  1. We had about 3/4 bids rejected by Exeter for seaborne, before we finally agreed a fee. If pard's really wants him, he'll be in a saints shirt before feb 1st.
  2. Sounds like those 2 articles are rehashed versions of what AP said after the game. He mentioned valuations, he likes the player and that the 2 clubs have ''differing valuations''
  3. ''He's a player i like alot, he would be a fantastic addition for us. But at the moment our valuation does not meet doncasters valuation''
  4. There is no way Fonte or Lambert will leave this window, or the next window. If we come to next jan and we're not near the promotion picture, then i'd expect them to get restless (and we'd probably say goodbye to AP too) - but they've signed up here for a project, not for a 6 month stint. they signed knowing that promotion this year would be a bonus, and not something that is 100% possible - so they won't sulk and demand a move if we don't go up.
  5. Good thread, totally agree. anything achieved this season would have always been a bonus, why people are getting het up saying it's a failure if we don't get promoted this year is bizarre. It's great having ambition, i have no problem with that - but you have to be realistic with it.
  6. you're exaggerating it to make a point. we have spent just under £2m, (add on's permitting etc) and without the -10 i would fully expect us to be promoted. why are people ignoring the -10 issue and our season preprations, thinking it's some sort of ''excuse''? it's a valid point and it's why we're 10 points off the flaming playoffs.
  7. There's being ambitious, and then there's being realsitc. i'd like to think the majority of our fans are being realstic and looking at the situation with prespectiive, based on the start we had and our current distance from the playoffs. (which i think has given us a little too much to do)
  8. i'd have expected them to be demanding upwards of £1m, which IMO, is fair. i guess we're arguing that Gillett will be part of the deal, so that will bring the price down.....but then again, wern't we prepared to let him go for 50k or something silly? tbf i expect this to go to the wire, if pard's really wants him, he'll get him.
  9. tbf i don't think he's a ''defensive'' midfielder as such, he takes alot of long range shots at goal and drives forward - but from reading donny fans views he's primarily the sort of player to get a team passing. (sort of player i think we're crying out for imo)
  10. don't think he's particularly quick - more of a ''get it, give it'' type player, gets teams passing - one of the reasons teams like WBA were looking at him.
  11. nope, we're still on. we're on Sky sports 3, liverpool game is on 1.
  12. Great play by sky if true, seeing as they've already plugged the live coverage of our game.
  13. they also want Gillett, and i doubt we'll let them have him without him being included in the stock deal.
  14. yep - sky sports 3, 7pm K.O.
  15. Achilles injury, so fortnight at least.
  16. I'm sure i read somewhere that players signed mid-season from the championship and above, cannot be included in the JPT squad...can anyone confirm that? Prob a load of rubbish, but im sure i saw it somewhere.
  17. only confirmed his interest in Stock, but the problem is that Doncasters valuation doesn't meet ours....at the moment.
  18. He's not the greatest of players, but i don't think he's been that bad this season? he's done a job when he's been asked to do one, and although he's clearly limited you cannot question his commitment. Still, he needs to be replaced if we're going to move forwards and i'm sure we'll do that this month.
  19. I don't think we'll sign another ''top'' striker - probably just one more to add depth, although 4-5-1 can be seen as negative, with the right players it's actually a really offensive formation. Lallana hasn't been bad IMO, one of our better players - but our problem with Lallana at times is our bloody urge to hoof it, players like Lallana cannot play if you just hoof, they're completely isolated from the game. I've seen him try and win headers...and although he tries and works his socks off (you cannot deny that) - it's just not his game. Get someone to pass the ball to him instead of hoofing it and he'll be even more influential.
  20. We can be, and we've shown that earlier in the season. Southend away for example, both players were excellent. what was the difference in that game for e.g....? Wotton in a 4-5-1. I'm not saying we need to play wotton etc - but we need another midfielder to give a bit more security to morgan and even lallana to a lesser extent.
  21. lol how many did we have turn up for our ''Lowe, Wotte-Notta-Gotta-Clue'' march?
  22. they're not that bad tbh. what they also have is a settled team, they've kept it the same for pretty much 2 seasons (colchester lost hammond, granted - but they did a good job replacing him with O'Toole).
  23. yep, spot on. our team is better than the bottom half teams in the leauge, hence the wins we get against them - but it's not quite good enough against the leeds/norwich/colchester/millwall's etc...
  24. i think it's the way in which certain people put their views across.
