  1. Spending 1.1m on last seasons top scorer, and doubling his wages? Signing the captain of a L1 club (for 400k) that will most likely be challenging for promotion (or would have been, i might add)?
  2. just behind Lambert, or if not - on the bench.
  3. Pekhart was the guy from Spurs, tall gangly striker who scored a goal on his debut v Ipswich - not a bad player, but for some reason we never played him. Pericard had trials at Cardiff and Barnsley this pre-season too, i bet he'll end up down in the lower leagues somewhere.
  4. just another note, off topic just on SSN - Colchester expect to announce their new manager tomorrow, possibly Boothroyd. As per usual, right in time for us. Great stuff. Im sure they do it on purpose. ffs
  5. I think we'll be looking better once Mills/Holmes is back though Holmes should be playing a reserve game this week.
  6. I wish we still had the threads from those days on the old S4E forums. Would be a good laugh to go back over them!
  7. he'd be a coup for us IMO. but Misfud would also offer us something we don't have at the moment....he's a quick/agile/nimble player....we haven't got anyone like that! perfect foil for lambert, would be happy with that.
  8. after he fell asleep in the airport - i remember that. although i think it was only 1 day late.
  9. well next season we HAVE to go all out and win it (although i would accept 2nd) with our resources, in L1, we should be able to be promoted automatically when starting on a level playing field IMO
  10. I know what you mean - i'm as frustrated as anyone, as i truly believe we have a good enough set of players to be doing much better than we are. but for alot of reasons that's not been possible - so playoffs is typically very unlikely now - mid-table comfortably would be acceptable for me now though, taking everything into account
  11. Jaidi at a guess. - as we cannot bring in any loans until monday now.
  12. I kind of agree, but i think we should use them and tide us over until January. Hopefully by then we'll have got ourselves together and with the help of a couple of loans put ourselves into a more progressive position...therefore slightly more attractive to decent players for fee's. that's my take on it anyway.
  13. If only it was, i think you'll find alot of moves (Especially on deadline day) work like this. Clubs don't want to lose without bringing in a replacement first etc.
  14. Not a bad signing for Charlton, don't think he was exactly what we needed though. Loan's are a decent option for us atm, just to tide us over to january. It'll become clearer which players are available now as clubs have finished their squads off.
  15. He'll go to a top half championship/lower half prem team - i think he's good enough to score goals regularly in the championship tbf. Depends where we are in January i guess, if players can see we're progressing, not in a relegation fight and have a chance of the playoffs (unlikely on the last point i know) then we may be more attractive than we are atm.
  16. I still think we're good enough to stay up confortably, even without further ''perm' signings. The loan window will be used by us in some kind of way i guess, hopefully to get some pace in...as that's all that's really lacking in this team. The thought of Jaidi and Trotman at the back though should sort us out in defense..nicely dominant. Mid-table comfortably - i still stand by that.
  17. The Gradel deal was apparently the one which stalled, as Saga was off to Leicester in some kind of swap - that would have prompted another signing to go through too (a striker - not sure who though tbf). It's weird how transfers can work like that - 1 move can cause a cascade effect. That could still resurrect it's self when the loan window opens though i guess. No idea on the Boro link that came up towards the end of the day. ..ignore all the stories about the beckford/jackson bids though, just normal transfer day stories. Also no official bids for Adam or Morgan. The only other one is common knowledge really - Jaidi, almost a done deal, pending work permit (should be ok now - still not 100% sure what the issue was with it in the first place tbf)
  18. I don't think an official bid was made, more so a phone call between clubs and agents, which stalled something which was going to happen (and subsequently stopped it happening at all) again, all that i've been told - not saying it's 100%, just thought i'd share.
  19. I don't think that's the case - i believe we're now focusing on loans, couple of things we were working on didn't come off. Mainly due to one of our players haggling about and Notts County popping their head round the door (hello saga) that's all i've heard in the past hour. also been told that loans cannot be made untill after next monday now. - still time for me to be proven wrong though (i hope i am tbf, as we are crying for pace....)
  20. I think he's still contracted to Spartak Moscow, which would rule us out now. As emergency loans can only be done between english clubs.
  21. If he scores for Burnley though, that's directly affecting them in the relegation zone. Weird move, more so that they haven't brought in a replacement.
  22. possibly wont be for another week too, as the loan window opens next monday. There is a shutdown for a week on all transfers atm.
  23. Merdian report that Marek looks set to leave on a loan deal, boro have been in contact.
  24. on FM he's an ''AMR/ST''
  25. Well im pretty confident to say ''when'' - he's been training for us for weeks (so i have been being told) and everything is agreed in personal and medical terms...and Pard's has today mentioned his name as a player we will sort out. ''“We’re also looking at finally securing the services of Radhi Jaidi.''
