Stockport vs Saints - 1st Half updates/discussion

Sounds like a close game so far, stockport have had the better opening so far...but our midfield sounds much more competitive. -
where did you hear that? i'd be chuffed with that tbh
-
I doubt our ability to bring in any perm. signings now, but we'll still be out there for loan deals and free's (Jaidi) and for JohnB - the window closes at 5pm on Tuesday.

http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=436471 Sunderland fans views. Although tbf they did say the same about Davis.

If you look at Rasiak's time here, i think you'll find that we actually recouped almost the entire £2m for him His loan fee to Bolton was at a fee of 250k, with 600k if they stayed up (they did - but he came back anyway) Then he went to Watford for a season, that would have included a loan fee i'm sure, probably not any higher than 100k though. So, we've recouped about 1.45m from the £2m. Not bad if you look at it that way. Also we only paid 1.5m up front for Greg....500k was paid as part of the loan fee to have him for the 2nd half of the season.

Seems like he's got a bit more mobility that Rasiak tbf
-
He hasn't paid off their debts, he's ''absorbed'' them himself, which is why it's so cheap. So in reality, they're still in debt. - just structured and taken on in a different way.

Where's the link to the article you've pasted?

Right back (possibly - depdning on murty's injury, which actually may not be too bad according to solent - scans have come back positive.) CB Winger Striker. but i wouldn't be surprised to see us go for a Pacy striker who can also operate down the wings...
-
They're building for the championship. It's obvious. Smith did ''ok'' for Watford when they were in the prem, but that's it...he didn't keep them up tbf and you cannot expect him to score more than 5 in the prem. Poor watford though, they look doomed. Priskin, Smith, Raisak rejects them, now Williamson.

I can see the POV of the French coach if im honest. He's not going to develop ''properly'' at this level because he's not the right type of player for hit and rush aggressive football. - Leave that for the likes of Hammond etc. He would not look out of the place in the prem imo and anyone saying ''he's ****e'' really need to take a look at him closely. I can't see us selling for under £2m and i can actually see a club paying top dollar for him, inc. apps/bonuses etc - because of his undoubted potential and future sell on.

The one memory that stands out is his last min goal against Derby in the PF Semi. His record for us was something like 30 in 79? which isn't too shabby tbh. That's not including the times he was inexplicably dropped for no reason and consequently stopped scoring. He was treated abysmally by us last season, so were all of the experienced players tbf - so it's no surprise he wants to go. If you add up all we have received for him in loan fee's and this fee, im sure it comes close to the £2m outlay we paid in the first place. - so we haven't done too badly. Now for a pacy forward...
-
Seconded. He was great last night, he found it hard to stay neutral when Paul Jewell was next to him saying it looks like Southampton who will win it..... ....2mins later, brum equalized....
-
it's priceless...you couldn't make it up.

I loved that quote.... “He spoke to one club and didn’t like them, so maybe he’ll like the next one.” Maybe you'll start to realise Greg, there aren't many clubs at the level you'll be at, with the setup he's been used to here...! FWIW that was my take on it too - gradel coming as part of a deal. Pard's said something along those lines, ''when we get 1 or 2 out, the agenda will become clear as it will enable us to bring 1 or 2 back in'' (P.S - Fix the thread title!!)
-
Spot on. It's been a nagging part of our decline in many ways. Players like Micheal Kightly as well at Wolves - they bought him for 170k..!!!! whilst we bought our ''equivalent'' player, Rudi Skacel, for 1.8m. Madness. I'm so reassured by the fact that Pard's is spotting all our weaknesses (club-wide) and fixing them - no messing, just fixing them. Long may it continue.
-
The skates aren't happy there is already a ''DR OUT'' thread on their forums, and it's not a joke thread either. All quite funny from our point of view. They've gone from one mess to another by the sounds of it. the Dr doesn't have the club at heart, otherwise he wouldn't have dragged this deal around the block 3 times, before screwing the current chairman.

True story. They did watch the oppo's highlights in the week before the game for about 5mins in the staplewood canteen - but that was it The training was focused on one touch passing and technique, nothing really ever geared towards coping with the oppo as we had the brilliant view that ''if we played our football'' we will beat anyone without having to ''prepare for each opposition'.. Excellent job lowe.
-
That's great news tbh...with how serious it sounded. Feared we were looking months and months.
-
Maybe we've been working hard on the work permit behind the scenes? TBF pard's never said ''it was completely off' - all he said ''it's getting away from us a bit now...'' - then it went silent. Keeping it nice and quiet as not to alert other clubs...
-
Very interesting...
