Good - put the fear back into them. they've had it too ****ing easy for the past 3 years - that's why we're where we are. time to get some fitness and urgency back into this team.
-
it's not that bad. just count your lucky stars it's not like this one:
-
I'm sure it's not just down to him, Andy Oldknow will play a part and i'm sure the manager hunt is also why they've consulted MLT. I'm confident in them anyway.
-
Something isn't right. I reckon it still boils down to the price and if the they cannot get the price down...they'll walk IMO. If i was a pompey fan, regargless of the statement released tonight, i'd be very nervous. - they look set to have a disastrous pre-season.

He's another one of those ''great former players'' that doesn't actually make a good manager. but because of his reputation, clubs always seem to appoint him. He kept WBA up that year by fluke imo, he's generally just rubbish. Kevin Blackwell beat him hands up at Sheff U with the same squad...
-
spot on. Nicola Cortese is one of the best in the business. we didnt' get any leaks during the takeover and we won't get any leaks during the manager hunt either. really impressive imo.

Football Manager 2009 - Southampton Save Game Thread
S-Clarke replied to Matthew Le God's topic in Computer Games
A few years ago (on FM05 i think) i somehow managed to take Southampton up as championship winners, and then managed to win the premiership in our first year back up  (i didn't cheat either...just bought very well, loans mainly) the best bit was....Higgy was the premiership winning captain, alongside Chris Baird. never been able to do that again. -
i think you'll find the people saying we'll go down again (or will struggle) are those who didn't' believe we'd ever get taken over. I think we'll be fine too - we need a few new players, but honestly, not this whole-sale squad replace that some are saying. Luton went further down because they didn't have any money and had to sell their entire squad (almost) - we'll just be adding to it from now on. exciting times!
-
John is on trial at palace i think, warnock is apparently very keen. I'm not even sure Euell is at the club anymore? I'm sure he's been released, and is now looking for a new club.
-
He doesn't manage anymore, so sad tbh. Saw a recent article in one of the papers, he's unrecognizable these days, confined to a wheel chair now i believe -but he still came across as the bobby we all loved! Newcastle's decline started when they sacked him.
-
interesting.... going to be another exciting week i think.
-
I guess he means he's been interviewed, as he's not been in any polls....
-
I'd be happy with that - good 'young' manager, who has the ability to grow with a club if given the backing and support. I can see him being the type of manager to work within a DoF structure too. I guess we'll see tomorrow (i hope...)

Poll: Would you be happy for Pearson to be our manager?
S-Clarke replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
I'd be happy - but i don't believe that he'll drop league after only just taking Leicester back. All this talk about a fall out of Milan is the press stirring IMO. -

Why is Saga not playing? Is this something to do with ''insurance''? if so...why is greg also not sitting out? Maybe he has actually agreed to stay? No matter how **** he has been in pre-season, if he is on form and confident he could easily hit 30 goals in league 1 IMO.
-
Agreed, you can't judge this season on our friendly results. A couple of years ago, BWP got 6 goals in pre-season...but only managed 10 in the full league. And last year we romped to a 12 or 14-0 win over some side - didn't do us much good tbf. Sometimes I think limping through pre-season games like this is better than winning 14-0, as you can have a clear look at the areas which need improving - rather than it being masked over by a fluke result.
-
2-1 to Bournemouth. muck up by bart - sliced his kick straight to the on-rushing Bournemouth striker. nice one.
-
As an alternative to WGS, i cannot say I'd be disappointed with this! Proven in the lower leagues and has a track record of success. (his win ratio over the last 3/4 years years must be stunning)
-
Maybe they're tapping into his manager knowledge, as he spoke to a fair few people during the pinnacle debacle about becoming our manager. Then they'll offer him a DoF position? It's the sensible move really, when you've got someone as high profile as MLT available - use him.
-
i'd love him...and i reckon he's thinking about it over the next 48 hours. (not much to think about WGS - just do it!!)
-
oh im sure we will..my point was that for the last few years, we've not even been able to make certain loans because of the fee involved.
-
Good post apline. i agree. They're not stupid, esp. not AO, I'm sure he's already aware of what we think!
-
I like the budget statement. Sounds like we'll have some 'sensible' clout at last. Gone are the days where we can't make a loan singing because of the fee...
