I think he'll be included in squads this season though, not every week, but i can see him involved in cup games etc.

Why are some people thinking we need more new players, we're so short etc etc. gk - Maarten, Davis, Gazzaniga, Forster, Britt df -Cedric, Cuco, Gardos, Yoshida, Fonte, Bertrand, Targett, Stephens, McCarthy, +one other mf - Morgan, Wanyama, Davis, Reed, JWP, Slattery. Obviously question mark over Morgan, he will be replaced with either 1 or 2 new MF additions when we get to that stage. att - Juanmi, Rodriguez, Pelle, Long, Mane, Isgrove, Hesketh, Tadic, Gallagher, Mayuka, Gaston As it stands, from last seasons team, we have lost Elia (big deal), Djuricic (big deal) and Clyne (will be missed), Toby (still qustion marks), and Forster (not sure for how long). Question marks still Over morgan. We have gained...Slattery, Juanmi, Rodriguez, Gaston (for how long, who knows), Cuco, Maarten, Soures so we are actually bigger squad wise than last season. The quality replacements will come when we need to make them.

THE MARCH: Saints launch monthly documentary series
S-Clarke replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It was in a Jeremy Wilson article (i think) and also on the echo. I don't think they're expecting to get big bucks, but just to get him off the wage bill. Clear he isn't suited to England. -
Yeah, I know that's the point you're trying to make, but it's not really a point to make at the moment. Once it's confirmed we lose Morgan and Toby for sure, then we will replace. Until that point, you cannot say we aren't replacing to the same standard.

He will go, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment if you believe he will stay. In a way, I think the club want it done ASAP so we can use the money.

A year of starting on the bench, you mean. He'll be gone. Club have actively said they're looking for buyers for him. -
Umm, it doesn't really make any sense what you're saying. 1) We don't know what will happen with Toby, so we haven't replaced him yet. 2) We haven't sold Morgan, so can't replace him yet I have no idea what the point you are trying to make is? There will be no more additions until the futures of Toby/Morgan are clear, that I thought was pretty clear from Koeman's interview. There is no way we can outlay a replacement for a £27m midfielder before the said midfielder has gone.

The good thing is, when Alpine comes out with all his crap, more often than not the opposite actually happens.
-
What on earth are you on about? Shaw - £32m, Lallana, 25m, Lovren £20m. The money right there was used to invest. Clyne went for a £8m fee, we replaced with Soares. Toby is not our player, no fee for him, and Morgan hasn't gone yet - so how can we reinvest? Seriously, some of the posts on this forum and thread are ridiculous. A bunch of spoiled brats supporting this club.

Do you have the source for the Osvaldo claims? No one knows how that pay off occurred, no one knows how it was structured. The fact is that it would be monumentally DUMB to throw another £5-6m at a player who we feel we have a legal right to sign for 6.9m. It would go against everything this club has put out there. We're not a city, or a chelsea. We can't just toss 5m down the drain as we feel. If we want to be self sustaining, then we can't go throwing money just to get stuff done. If we feel we have a genuine case here, then the common-sense way of addressing it is to look into the legalities - not just spend the money anyway. I don't believe it's a case of us not wanting to match the fee, it's more a case of us getting what we feel is correct out of the deal.

I think this has been mooted as the reason Levy was out there, although if I'm honest I don't truly believe it would have even been him who went out there - a delegation maybe, but not just him. As soon as Madrid got Toby back, they have seemingly tried to use him as a bargaining chip for their own deals (Luis being one). My general feeling is that Madrid are playing silly buggers, they are trying to force Toby onto Spurs. Spurs are interested, as you would be, but it's not as cut and dry as many people may think. He's certainly not shaken on it and agreed terms, in my opinion. The leak of the 'legal action' was an interesting and slightly surprising twist, as it seems we may have become aware of Madrid's attempts to palm Toby off on Spurs without adhering to our contractual agreement. In one way it seems like a bit of a last resort, but on the other hand we have just been playing it by the book - so why aren't they. I genuinely believe Toby would sign here, from what I understood from the pre-fee thing, a draft contract is sorted out at the same time - so if/when the deal does become permanent, the deal just kicks in and you're not stuck in weeks of contract wrangles. So in my opinion, Toby knows we want him. He knows what we're going to offer him, he's seemingly happy with that, but until Madrid stop playing silly buggers than we won't have a deal. The Spurs stuff is not as cut and dried as it may seem in the media. I feel he will sign for us, this is nothing other than a bit of dirty tricks by Madrid to try and get more money. Once they realise how messy it could become, an agreement will be made. People are saying that it's up to Toby, but I think Madrid are even playing him. I don't think what he says will make any difference to what they do. We've just got to let them finish their silly game.

I also got the impression from Koeman that he was so delighted the club managed to secure Cedric, I think he rates him very, very highly. And to be fair, it seems as if we wizzed into action as soon as Clyne said cheerio. -
If you're reading the same Spurs forum as me (glory glory) then there are a few ITK bits in there, they have a special ITK thread (bit sad). Interestingly, one of the ITK guys is pretty clear that they're not signing Toby and has been from the start. Will have to wait and see, but all the ******** of him being set to sign for Spurs were never reality. The whole Spurs stuff has never sat right with me, something isn't as it seems.

Southampton betaalt 1,5 miljoen euro aan FC Twente voor Martina bit.ly/1JJHll6 pic.twitter.com/MZXskfFGyk 6:47pm - 6 Jul 15 So, what's that? Under £1m. Only a 2 year contract apparently, so very little risk involved what so ever.
-
People are seemingly forgetting Jay, or not expecting him to be a PL player after his injury. The fact of the matter is that pre-injury he was scouted by some of the biggest clubs, capped for England, and rated v v v highly. We've basically just acquired ourselves a £20m striker for this season. I never understood the clamor for another.

Erwin.

I wouldn't have thought so. He'll just add depth to the full back positions. Would imagine it will be Targett at LB, and Cedric at RB.
-
Koeman used that to justify the signing. Maybe he can play left back as well, I've never seen him play.
-
I imagine he wanted to manage the finances in the Champions League. I think there's a special theme you can get for Excel 2013 if you are a CL club. That was what did it.
-
Which was used to justify the need to sign this backup defender from Twente.

Well, not a great deal of information advised from Koeman. His understands was that Madrid tried to pay us back the agreement, but it was too late. He spoke with the player and believes him when he says he wants to continue here, he believes he will be a Southampton player. That was from Koeman. As we were then. I've never personally believe the ''Spurs are close'' stuff.
