Okay, maybe not laughable. £9m close to being done. Losing the will to live.
-
This is pie in the sky stuff, there's nothing in it. Zilch, zero, nothing.
-
Obviously nothing much to shout about, as SSN have gone straight to the boxing. Will be one of those ''coming up shortly....in the next 10 hours'' sort of things.
-
Cannot see it being Garcia. It's agent waffle, trying to big himself up. He failed to do what he came to do at Brighton - which was promotion. Not too many of their fans are bothered. It simply won't happen because it would make RK look an utter helmet given his comments y/day ''so many high profile managers'' etc.
-
''We will not end the summer without any transactions, but I want to let everyone know that these will be on our terms''. Not sure if anyone picked that up.
-
That was a good interview and it does help us, as fans, see where they want to take the club. BUT....it's still talk at this stage, I'm still waiting to see some proper actions! I think we are a great pick for any manager, it's such an attractive job for someone - so let's hope they get the right one, and based on what he said in terms of the high profile nature of the candidates....I think most of us would be disappointed if it's now a Poyet/Lennon level manager. Let's just see now - time for some action!
-
It was clearly a target, no matter how far fetched it seemed. Obviously the finance stopped it from happening, but the ambition was there - and everyone latched onto it within the club, and as they say....reach for the stars....if you don't quite make it, then it's not too bad a result either. but if you just stay as you are, you will probably start slipping down.

I think we need to keep hold of Lallana, the rest will kind of link together then. Hell, I said the same about MP and he went. Who knows. The club don't, that's for sure.
-
He wants to manage in the CL, but he'll have to go via the Europa league first - Spurs is a good fit to get him there if we're honest. More of a chance than he'd have here.
-
GO TEAM SAINTS! #teamsaints He knows how to use the roster system quite well, so that's an advantage.
-
And so was the bit where Gareth Rogers openly admitted that he had to get RK to change the ''Southampton Saints'' part of his speech.
-
lol ffs.
-
They'll only go to the current top 4, they wouldn't leave for Europa league - for that I'm sure.
-
You're right. He's been put in that position because he says all the right things, and plenty of supporters will lap it up because it sounds all fluffy and magical - but at the end of the day it's just waffle. Big words, impressive words, but anyone with an ounce of intelligence will realise they mean sod all. In terms of the role he's actually here to do, he doesn't have a flaming clue what to do.
-
So we're warming up their next manager for them, then.
-
Sounds like Yakin wants it. Would be a good fit to be honest, good calibre. If we go and appoint someone like Mckay or Poyet instead then it does indicate we really don't know what we're doing.
-
It's been obvious that this is going to happen since, probably, early April. I can assure everyone that MP loved it here, so did his staff....and if the club demonstrated the willingness to carry on the good work and the ambition...then he'd have stayed. But he wants to manage in Europe, he's good enough to do so - if we continued the same ambition that could have happened here, as we were onto a good thing. I just get the feeling that the board have been wandering around with their fingers in their ears going ''lalalalalalalla'' for the last few months, and they'll probably continue the same way.
-
They've been calm about the MP situation for months, saying all will be sorted in the summer and that they're always talking etc etc. So they haven't had a clue, it does seem to me that MP has strung them a long a bit - but they've been stupid and naive enough to allow it to happen. They won't have any plans in place, IMO. - Not yet anyway.
-
Doesn't really show anything. There's simply nothing to be announced. As I've said before, I'd rather they left the announcements until there is something 100% to confirm. Until that point, it's just PR rubbish. I mean, what are they supposed to say? ''Southampton football club can confirm that our manager is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur. He may get the job, and he may not. We work behind the scenes and are committed to the future. We are calm''
-
Rio will be a QPR player next season then, probably Joe Cole as well.
-
Hit and miss, but in the main our style worked brilliantly as we had our best ever PL season - so it was a major success. He wasn't going to win every week, but one of the toughest, gritty, up and at it places to go in the league - Crystal Palace - was a game he managed superbly and we dug in and got our best away result of the season, IMO.
-
Reed always seems to be the scapegoat for when things don't go well, but people seem to forget that he's been here through it all. A lot of you are desperate for NC back, you need to remember that Les was often NC's football advisor on every single matter - so it's safe to say that a lot of the tough, yet good decisions over the last few years have come from his contribution. Let's see if he has another MP up his sleeve, as I think he's earnt our trust at least. As for the other rabble in the board room, the jury is well and truly out on that lot.
-
That worked well, as I'm sure he signed Joe Allen from them within a few weeks! To be honest those agreements are more than often just gentleman's agreements, shook on and left at that.
-
A lot is made of plan b's, plan c's, etc etc. - but what actually is it? Plan B is just to hit it hard and long and hope for the best? is plan c when you get even more desperate and throw your GK up there? or do you continue to be patient and work with your overall plan? At the end of the day, a lot of the lack of 'plan b' came down to a lack of squad. If the first 11 wasn't working, that was it. Nothing he could do. We had Guly and Jos on the bench, and I can't say either of those are game changers. So whilst people say when it doesn't go well, he didn't change it, but he didn't really have the options to change it. That was something he was probably hoping to address this summer, but never mind.
