  1. To stick up for the selection of Puncheon, who on earth else is there exactly? (Please don't mention SDR) He's actually not been bad this year either
  2. Clearly a thread made at the heat of the moment, based on a knee-jerk reaction than anything. It's a bizarre decision which I cannot make sense of, but let's not go hysterical about it.
  3. I have absolutely no idea what to expect if I'm honest with you.
  4. Starts up front through the middle today.
  5. Against a physical team like WHU, you need your physical centre forward out there, right? Ok then.
  6. What a weird 11. No idea. Can't make any sense of this one.
  7. No one is perfect in all of this Turkish, I just don't believe it looks great when you rant on twitter like he has. Just my opinion, I just don't think it's the way for professional people to go about. I'm sure there are other ways he can try and make contact with the club if he wanted to do so. I wish we could lock them both in a room for a day though, force them to sort it out, out of the public eye.
  8. I think you've got it spot on there. I've said it for years, but In my opinion as a club we have always lived in the past. ''Let's get Beattie back'' ''Is Oakley still available '' ''What about WGS as manager?". There's no reason to forget the history, absolutely not, but there also comes a time when you live in your history. Cortse wants to make his own history here, which is fair enough. As you said, you can't argue with his success. He's achieved everything he's set out to do so far, without the time frame he set out. I also personally don't believe the ex-players were ever banned, they just had their cushy little freebies removed - and this got their goats up, that's probably what kicked this all off at the start. But that goes back to what I was saying before, we can't live in our history.
  9. A lot is made of the price, and that's why people have made their judgement on him. If he cost £1m I doubt he'd have got as much critisim. I find it mad that people are jumping to conclusions on him when he's only been here 2 minutes, quite mad really. Such is the world of football these days.
  10. But what is he achieving? At the end of the day, neither are right in all this. I don't want to be called a CoC, or whatever it is, because Cortese isn't perfect and has played a big part in all this debacle. But I just don't feel that ranting to try and turn the fan base against the current chairman is exactly the right thing to do. Just my opinion. But it looks like we're heading into the direction of having a Lunatic Fringe, and Lowe Luvies again by the looks of it.
  11. Unfortunately, the reality is that MLT has made this public for his own reasons. Therefore he's made the situation worse than it was. It's sad that our greatest player cannot be part of this football club as it currently stands, but there comes a time when I think both heads need to be slammed together, unfortunately though MLT is just making it worse, and worse and worse is acting quite immature in all of this. There are ways to go about it, and ranting on twitter is probably the least professional and mature way of making a point. I doubt their issues will ever be resolved, but for the sake of the club he should really shut up.
  12. NI take the lead against Portugal, in Lisbon.
  13. Eh? David is a pretty good poster on this site, can't say he has any sort of WUM history. He's made a point, which is very wide of the mark, but he doesn't deserve to be called a WUM for it!
  14. This is the main part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT1DhcQg0Os
  15. that was awesome, the ease in which he landed at the end....just magic stuff. The BBC guys woffled a fair bit of rubbish, I think the fella was in control all the way down.
  16. Yep, fair point. We can't really afford to have injuries in the positions we did have on Sunday. Gaston, I'm sure, would have given us a little more calmness in the middle at times as well.
  17. In terms of a defensive shape, we looked better against Fulham, and to a degree for the most part of the Everton game. I think we are improving, we certainly weren't as open on Sunday anyway. I also think it'll be a case of the opposition not having the same level of players who could hurt us, we've been up against some of the best in the last 2 months so any weakness we have are exposed and hung out to dry in big red writing.
  18. It's a combation of both really. You can't expect to sign a CB and for all your problems to be resolved, you need to look at the entire setup. We could have had the best centre backs in the world against Arsenal a few weeks ago, but we'd have still be beaten very heavily because the midfield offered no protection. At the end of the day, worse defenders than Fonte and Jos have performed in the PL before - it's equally about what's in front of them, anyone will look exposed and poor if they've being run at all game.
  19. Are you basing this on 80 odd mins playing out of position? Where, understandably, he looked uncomfortable and uneasy When played at CB he's look pretty composed, wins most of his headers, very quick as well - so I'm not sure why you think he's slow. but again, we've not really seen a great deal of him to come to any massive conclusion either way. He captained Japan to a 1-0 win last night away in France as well btw.
  20. Yoshida captained Japan to an away win over France last night. They got a 1-0 win in the 88th min.
  21. Well apparently, we're a small team anyway. I find that comment quite funny coming from the chairman of a current SFL Div 3 team. “There will be a European league because big teams can’t keep subsidisng small teams like Southampton for the next 10 years because they will go stale. “Arsenal don’t want to play Southampton or Swansea, but ask them if they want to play Celtic or Rangers. It’s what the fans want to see. “Fans across the world want to see Manchester United play Southampton or Swansea, they want to see them play Rangers and Celtic"
  22. West Ham are what I would call a well drilled outfit, they know what they're doing and they know their jobs. They are packed with premiership experience and this shows, they have that grit and know how to get over the line in tight games in the PL. We don't, yet. We're learning, but learning slowly. I don't quite think WHU are this mega club which some of their fans are making them out to be, they're a middle of the road PL club - that's pretty much their levle unless they get serious investment. I'd like to think it's the sort of game we can make our mark on, but I just get a feeling that their tactics will slightly come out on top. He's only played for 1 game, but we will miss Gaston's calmness on the ball and his ability to hold onto it in tight situations. It would have been handy to have him as WHU like to keep it tight, make the pitch small and crowd the middle. I think we've got a chance, but wouldn't be at all surprised if they were just a little too shrewd than us at the moment.
  23. Christ, yeah, tell me about it. The days of being run by Lowe and Wilde are long gone, now that was when we were well run - I miss those days.. They knew what they were doing! Bloody Cortese hasn't got a clue............!!!!! We clearly need a fan on the board to sort all this out. (this is a sarcastic post incase it gets lost on the internet)
  24. Used to be pretty loyal to firefox, but it's recent additions have been abysmal. Constant crashing, flash errors, the works. Now on chrome. Doubt i'll be going back.
  25. But I don't think it's anything imminent. It makes sense for the club to explore the possibility of it, what the logistics are - what area's can and can't be upgraded. No harm in that, but it doesn't mean we're going to do that rather than buy defenders! We need to be an established PL team before we will even attempt to do this, and that's a few years away. (if we stay up this year that is).
