  1. I don't think you can criticise people for staying away for what was essentially a pre season friendly, albeit against some well respected opposition. I've been to some of these pre season friendly games before and however they label it (Markus' Memorial or Ted Bates Trophy) the games are essentially meaningless. It would make more sense to honour Markus' contribution to our club's history by having a memorial day on a home match instead. Let us also not forget that since NC has become chairman, the club has become far more aloof and businesslike in its treatment of the fans. Without Sky TV money from the Premier League, the fans are a large source of revenue for the club that seems to be exploited at every turn. That will turn people away
  2. Top post full of great ideas. We could all shove cotton wool into our cheeks and pretend we're all Marlon Brando whilst singing , or double slap each other in the faces shouting "capiche", or even better, go to away games armed with mock M16 assault rifles chanting "Say hello to my little friend". From what I'm told, Nicola has a great sense of humour and would really appreciate the racial stereotyping.

  4. I've seen this posted on Twitter as well. To be honest, I couldn't give a monkeys. If this firm does it cheaper than Cedar, then it's more profit for the club to invest in players and infrastructure. It's a non story for me. Local rivalry is one thing and I do understand it, being from Southampton and living in Cardiff, but I wouldn't avoid going to the Gower because I have to go through Swansea to get there.
  5. Absolutely. Torquay is a very small club and will never have the resources to be a bigger club than it is. Bristol Rovers are developing a new ground and can at the very least aim for the Championship.
  6. Thanks for this. I'll send him this link
  7. I do use Saintsplayer, but this is a one off. How do you use a UK proxy?
  8. Can anyone, particularly Saints fans in the USA show me a site which they would use to watch the highlights of Wallsall? I sent the BBC link to a mate in the US and he says he can't watch it because it's UK only content. I've searched Youtube and there's nothing there (so far) of decent enough quality to show the goals
  9. If we can stay injury free and keep our creative players fit, then if you look at the table we are in a very strong position. However, there will be a lot of twists and turns along the way. Brighton have proved to be a very strong and consistent team throughout the season and we won't catch them. The play offs are a lottery and teams bigger than us have gone in as strong favourites and not even got to the final. Therefore NA must keep the boys focused and not allow complacency to set in. I do think "ours to lose" is a bit arrogant. "Ours to win" is more appropriate imo
  10. It was actually moved forward to 1230 because they thought Argyle might go about of business between 1230 and 3pm. I have a feeling though that Wales are playing England on the same day. I think it's a 3pm kick off
  11. Well you aren't supposed to lose the next game until after you've won Manager of the Month. Unforgiveable for Adkins to take it for granted he was going to win by losing against Wallsall.
  12. I do think some people need a reality check. Mainly the players that is, but we do not have a divine right to beat every team we come up against. Clubs bigger than us, and as big as us have been stuck at this level and it's taken them years to get back out again. Yes, on paper, a club with the fans we have should be expected to beat the likes of Wallsall every time, but consistency has been a problem for this club for years and I think complacency certainly plays a large part Adkins knows what it takes to get out of this division with less resources than he has available at Southampton and most of the team he has were not his own signings. I wasn't overly impressed by the track record of N'Guessan when he signed on loan and I'd never heard of Forte, so when the sub gets subbed (Ali Dia?) you have to wonder wtf is going on. I have no particular desire to see Saints back in the Premier League if when we get there, ticket prices get hiked again and we suffer seasons of struggle because we cannot compete with the likes of Manchester United or Arsenal. I don't see us getting an automatic spot this season because Brighton are consistent and so are Bournemouth
  13. Just seen on the BBC website that hard rock and blues legend Gary Moore has died aged 58 whilst on holiday in Spain. I saw him a couple of times in the past few years and he was a truly great guitar player He will be missed
  14. Absolutely. I can't speak too much on the Matty ticket issue as I don't know much about it, but Franny was asked what he's doing now and he said football wise, he coaches his son's team in Romsey. Soccer AM asked him about his property development side of things and asked him about renting his house out to the club and Franny responded with the proviso that he can't say too much as it's now a legal issue. Hardly slagging the club off, just responding, imo diplomatically, to a question that was asked of him. I don't think it's any great secret that NC has no time for MLT after the Pinnacle issue, and he was quick to go public, so I don't see too much of an issue if Matty airs his own sour grapes in public. As it was, Matt's family could have bought tickets themselves right up to kick off. Happy days
  15. This is so true. Lawrie must realise what Sky and Champions League money have done to the game. The days when 2nd Division clubs could beat Premier League clubs in a major cup final are long gone. The only chance Saints have realistically of winning next week is if Sir Alex plays his reserve team. Having said that LM is a huge part of our history and the guy that led us during our most successful era. Would it hurt the club to give him an honorary season ticket?
  16. I've been using Eset Smart Security for the last 10 months on 2 of my machines, yet last week, suddenly the virus signature updater stopped working. I didn't really bother much at first, then I noticed that after 6 days it still hadn't updated. I tried to scan the machine. The scanner crashed the computer. I downloaded AVG and disabled Eset and tried to boot up into safe mode. It wouldn't boot up or was so bloody slow that I gave up. Every time I tried to run a scanner, the scanner wouldn't go. I did find 2 suspicious files linked to a run32dll file in the start up list, Googling both got no hits at all, so I was convinced that somehow a virus had got through the Eset security. In the end I reinstalled a new version of Windows 7 wiping the old system (I didn't bleeding well think of a system restore which might have cured the problem) Up until now I've been very happy with Eset as it's fast and doesn't slow my machine down. I think Kaspersky uses the same engine that AVG uses. So as my licence expires in March I'm wondering what people have been using as a suite that includes anti virus, firewall, malware protection etc. I've used both Norton and McAfee in the past and both are resource hungry beasts that slow my machine down.
  17. Thanks for the link mate. Just downloaded it and will run it tomorrow.
  18. Odd one this. I have just bought a new laptop and wanted to recover/reformat the info on my old one before disposal, but for some reason, the CD/DVD drive does not show up on my computer at all, and it isn't in the hardware list in Device Manager. It won't open without my putting a pin into a small hole next to the button that normally opens the drive. At a guess I would say that the drive was dead. I can't enable/disable it in the BIOS. I've tried the add hardware option but it didn't detect the drive Does anyone have any ideas how I can reformat the hard drive. The machine does have USB capabilities but no floppy so I can't use an old Dos disk. I don't particularly want to pay for a repair on a machine that I'm not going to use
  19. I for one am very disappointed that David has left the club. He always had time to speak about various fans issues over the years and was always approachable and charming. Even when the end result wasn't what I had hoped for I always understood his reasons. He had the chance to move on to bigger and better things during his time at Saints, and for whatever reasons, he ended up staying and I wish him all the very best for the future. He could never satisfy the needs of everyone, but I think he did his best, and bear in mind too, that some of the policies he implemented were not his decisions
  20. It could be worse, look at Plymouth! Bloody Ridsdale in talks.
  21. I've got over 150 gigs of free space on the hard drive, so I don't think that's it
  22. I already have both of those options ticked and it still happens. I tried Google Chrome for a few days but didn't like it. I might go back and try Safari again
  23. I'm trying this for info
  24. I use IE8. I just can't remember if it used to do it before when I had Vista installed. I can look at my home page one minute and then if I navigate away, then back I'm logged out of all of the sites I have to log in to. I know it's not a huge problem to log back in, but it's a bloody nuisance Cookies are enabled, sometimes I can go for days and it won't happen, then in the past 2 days, it's happened 3 times. Very odd
  25. This is a weird but annoying problem that doesn't appear to be uncommon, yet I haven't managed to find a solution as yet. I keep getting logged out of my websites where I am supposed to stay logged in, that includes this site and all the other forums that I visit, Gmail, hotmail etc and they all get logged out at the same time. I'm using Windows 7 and can't now remember if I had the same problem with Vista, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has suffered with this
