  1. I look forward to some right-wing come back on this but... Obviously, they are both very worthy causes, but a thought occured to me today that sooner or later the poppy appeal will be consumed by the seemingly more 'popular' help for heroes campaign. Do people think that the two can co-exist? My reasons behind thinking this is that I always have and always will associate the poppy with the rememberance of those who died during the two World Wars, yet it seems from my point of view that if you were to ask someone 'What charity supports soldiers after their service?' the majority would say 'Help for Heroes' rather than 'The Royal British Legion'. Can people see where I'm coming from? The image of the poppy seems to me to be ingrained in the national psyche as part of the remeberance of naive civilian volunteers/pals battalions/trenches etc, the fight to liberate Europe from Nazism and to some extent the Falklands conflict. With no longer any WW1 vets left, minimal numbers of WW2 vets left and now the Falklands vets getting old, is their much hope left for the Poppy Appeal? Or do people think it will always continue as a sign of 'unquestioning' sacrifice for our country? (By 'unquestioning' I mean a conscripted army who didn't know any better as opposed to a professional army that understands the risks etc.)
  2. Tempted to buy a ticket in block 1 and give my ST to the old man.
  3. How much did Cameron bung them from the public purse I wonder?
  4. You're mental. It can't be lack of sleep doing it seeing as you could opt to stay in bed all day.
  5. You're a lunatic.
  6. ****! Not a typo?!!? String me up!
  7. An American bashing the idea of free universal health care?! Thats a new one!
  8. What a lovely yet useless peice of conjecture. Care to venture any evidence?
  9. Behave. It wouldn't surprise me if the coaches leave at 9am and depart Fratton at 6pm.
  10. Has anyone else noticed that under the question "What legislation are you doing this under" (or words to that affect), they don't actually answer the question by quoting an appropriate act. Makes my blood boil the amount of 'weazelness' involved in policing football matches in this country. For the last 30 years football fans in this country have been treated like scum.
  11. ...yes, because you let them out at the same time you ****tards! What a load of ********. Clueless.
  12. My nan has one of those and she is knocking on 85!
  13. Please don't bring Richardson into your rant. The man is brilliant.
  14. This. They are (unfortunately) giving the majority of the people what they want.
  15. Lovely to know I've got something to look forward too this week. It always makes me laugh, but knowing that there is a nice chunk on Saints is very welcome. I'm only 10 mins in so far.
  16. This will be their cup final and they will be well up for it. Just keep playing the quick beautiful football Saints and we'll (as I believe the new popular phrase is) 'tear them a new one'! Saints 3-1 (after we go 1 down on 10 mins.)
  17. Oh you mean the one kid who swore at me? Well considering I've been rated as 'Outstanding' by OFSTED, been made a department second at the age of 25 and added on the 'School Improvement Group' I would say I'm doing alright. How is life on the dole? I would feel sorry for you as I know it is tough out there, but you voted for the Tories so you only have yourself to blame. Anyway, when you resort to this sort of thing we all know you've lost, so I'll leave you to have your milkybar before bed time. Make sure you clean your teeth though...actually, you'll get some sort of discount though won't you on jobseekers?
  18. Oh dear. Isn't it time for your milkybar yet? How is that HND (or whatever micky mouse academic qualification you have) working out for you these days?
  19. He decarled UDI on November 11th at 11am, what a guy. The Government's policy of "no independence before majority rule" was a sensible one. Smith's government as a 'European' party was in the minority and opposed the policy: He is the one responsible for the catatroshpic breakdown in UK/'Rhodesian' relations. It is no surprise you are thick when you read and believe an autobiography of someone so deluded and self-centred.
  20. Calm down dear, I don't have time to watch this documentary this evening: maybe I will on my strike day? I know it is a Wiki artcile, but what you gonna do? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhodesia#Independence "Bishop Muzorewa's government did not receive international recognition. The Bush War continued unabated and sanctions were not lifted. The international community refused to accept the validity of any agreement which did not incorporate the main nationalist parties. The British Government (then led by the recently elected Margaret Thatcher) issued invitations to all parties to attend a peace conference at Lancaster House. These negotiations took place in London in late 1979. The three-month-long conference almost failed to reach conclusion, due to disagreements on land reform, but resulted in the Lancaster House Agreement. UDI ended, and Rhodesia reverted to the status of a British colony ('The British Dependency of Southern Rhodesia'). The outcome was an internationally supervised general election in early 1980" Smith declared Zimbabwe independent in 1965 which was under Wilson, but it was under Thatcher's government that they became 'Zimbabwe'...are you sure you're not getting confused? The problem is dunce, you read too much biased literature on the subject and you will never take my Masters degree away from me and I will sleep soundly in the knowledge that I know more than you.
  21. There doesn't seem to be a programme listed as "Rhodesia's forgotten children"? I think you're partly right though as didn't Zimbabwe gain official independence in 1980? I think it was that well known Liberal Thatcher who was PM then so once again, your historical knowledge/research knows no bounds. Let us not forget the Liberal Smith also that partly oversaw the transition of power between 1979-1980. Sterling work dunce, serling work.
  22. This. Don't they have ideas above their station at the moment?!
  23. I hope you've gone with Orange. I changed to 3 and then o2 but in hindsight everything about Orange is/was better.
  24. Catch 22 situation isn't it? I'm much of the opinion as you.
  25. I believed right from the off. The night before Leeds I watched Hull vs Blackpool on Sky and thought to myself "We have nothing to worry about in this league".
