  1. This - I would not live there, irrespective of how much cash they flung at me
  2. So, who forgot to plug the toaster in, eh?
  3. Francis Maude has been given the political equivalent of a clip round the ear by downing street for making dumb ass comments on the fuel (non) crisis
  4. imfromthesouthWednesday, March 28, 2012 at 09:10 AM Could we do what Barcalona do, pay to attend training sessions? We could open Fratton Park over the summer and show training matches. It works two ways, we get to see all of what is coming through the academy and early judgement on new players. In return pompey take a little money. I reckon with the right backing we could take a devout 5,000 fans each week. If they make it affordable maybe more than that. It wouldn't need much policing because there wouldn't be any away fans. Also, In the summer all the kids are off school so Kids for £3 adults for £6. Supporters Trust. Funniest thing I think I have ever read
  5. Wade - have you drunk too much coffee today
  6. Hell hath no fury like a media baron scorned. Party funding is an interesting one. I am not sure how it can be done. You can't split a central pot of money three ways, because it is unfair on the smaller parties and the libs are much smaller than the cons and labs so shouldn't receive the same. You also can't do it on seats held because that favours the big two. It certainly cannot stay the way it is, as it is wide open to abuse, although this is not just restricted to the rich donors. For instance, I wonder what Ed Milliband has promised to do for the Unions in return for their backing in the leadership contest. Also the unions have used their contributions (the threat of withdrawal) as a negotiating tool when trying to get the previous government onto their agenda.
  7. Verbal, are you actually saying Cameron is corrupt? Better watch our for those libel lawyers.
  8. Well our £3.5bn Carriers will now cost £6bn. What I cannot understand is how the costs of these projects can spriral so quickly. The contract negotiators for the MOD must be cretins of the highest order.
  9. I wonder if the drinks industry may be better winding their neck in a bit, just in case they get landed with something much worse instead. I do wonder if this is really going to work, kids in town centre have generally spent more that 40p unit in the pubs and clubs, and is an extra £2 quid on a 2l bottle of super strength own brand cidre really deter someone, I doubt it. Perhaps we should do what they do in Iceland and British Colombia where the liquor stores are government owned and run. Then the price can by properly regulated and the profit can help the taxpayer who has to pay for the aftermath of the binge drinking.
  10. This is becoming more viable by the budget. http://www.williamswarn.com/The-WilliamsWarn
  11. How many "failing" businesses losing £800k pa are worth £4 m?
  12. It's where they bury their image rights. I'm talking about oil and gas workers, engineers, it workers who can save between £5000 and £10,000 per year using ltd companies. The hmrc have had a couple of nibbles at this but were as successful at stoping this as they were knobbling Harry and milan
  13. The truth about limited company contractors...... Firstly, in the main hell will freeze over before they accept a perm job, they earn far more than perm employees. Secondly, they were avoiding tax when the rate was 40%. 90 % of the people working like this are not legitimate ly self employed, dispite what they or their contracts say. These are some of the worst tax avoiders in the country. Unfortunately the hmrc are abject at sorting them out.
  14. We are off to Andalusia this year. A couple of days in Seville, a couple in Jerez and then roast on the beach in Conil. You could do this on any budget.
  15. I cannot for the life of me imagine what a submariner was doing at night in the "Four Floors of Whores"
  16. How far does the increase in pension offset the reduction in age allowances ? I thought the increases in stamp duty were good, it will certainly stop the offshore companies wheeze the rich use. The 50p tax band reduction was always going to be a hot potato. Irrespective of whether is was right or wrong, it gave labour an open goal for the headlines.
  17. Can we get promoted at the same time as Pompey get relegated at SMS?
  18. Epic, simply epic. I love saints, and the boros
  19. Epic simply epic
  20. Middlesbrough , two really close chances to win it
  21. Stunning goal by Middlesbrough
  22. How about Pompey beat all the odds and stay up, but then promptly get liquidated - that will do me
