  1. Kevin Keegan must be due an emotional return there again soon
  2. Yes, think he ran half the length of the field to join a scrap in the penalty area.
  3. If Newcastle go for EH I suspect he’ll be charged with keeping them up and they’ll part with him at the end of the season to bring in a ‘name’ . Agree Farke and Smith are the ones on thin ice at the moment
  4. As well as going for managers with Chelsea connections, Spurs have also put aside any local pride and recruited managers with Arsenal connections in the past. In the 70’s there were a few raised eyebrows when they went for Terry Neill (former Arsenal captain who was then managing Hull). Highly amusing when he left after a year or so to go to manage Arsenal. More recently George Graham. Helps confirm Spurs position as fairly well down the evolutionary chain in London football, regularly taking cast-offs from their rivals.
  5. And Steve Mills
  6. Pre dates the 1980's. Think back to the 1960's, Davies, Paine and Sydenham, although I think Paine and Sydenham's success was as much about skill and guile rather than just pace. And they could cross a ball, rather than most modern "wingers"/widemen whose idea of a cross is get to the byline by their pace and then thunder the ball into the box in hope.
  7. Plus : Baker (Steve) and Baker (Graham).
  8. Davis (K), Davis (S) as you’ve already got, plus for a bit of variation: Davies (R).
  9. Think a few crossed wires here. Seen kerb crawling near Clifton Suspension Bridge. Apparently. Good source: taxi driver from Temple Meads Station in Bristol today.
  10. for other reasons, Manny Andruszweski and Forbes Phillipson-Masters are probably good squad players to have on the bench.
  11. FFS - what a waste of everybody's time, especially the rozzers.
  12. Nuno for Villa or Newcastle perhaps ?
  13. Think Bruce managed Villa previously.
  14. Except other's are now saying he isn't. Hopefully that isn't a game changer.
  15. Way of finding some extra £ I suppose
  16. Where is that reported ?
  17. It's the loose 50:50 balls in midfield that wouldn't be for the faint hearted, picture Jones, or Dennis Wise going in for it with Brian O'Neill (socks rolled down, no shinpads) for a shuddering tackle. Followed by Vinnie, Fash the Bash & Co clashing with McGrath, Gabriel, Walker, Hollywood ... whilst the ref and lnesman try to keep it under control.
  18. According to BBC article it was a two year deal, which in itself wasn't an overwhelming vote of confidence showing commitment or good intention. Surprised Nuno went for such a deal especially as he was clearly well down their list of options after several others were meant to have turned it down, or had offers withdrawn. Feel sorry for Nuno in some ways as he came across well at Wolves I thought, but anyone accepting pieces of silver from levy shouldn't expect it to be plain sailing at Spurs, with or without the Kane saga in the background.
  19. Agree, need a far more impressive CV than that: -miss crucial penalty as a player -average to poor playing a part in Middlesbrough's relegation c 10 years ago -good experience at pizza commercials -could double up as model for M&S 3-piece suits if required.
  20. Yes, noticed the following: And this one: North London Yobbery at it's finest. Pass the port please Rupert.
  21. Are we giving away teams more tickets this season ? Looked to me that Man U/Leeds for instance had an extra block compared to what it used to be (two years ago !!), but it might be age and memory.
  22. How often have we seen depleted and makeshift sides come and frustrate us, even pulling off a win against the odds ? Would expect us to win given the confidence in respective camps but certainly can't take it for granted that Villa will be as poor against us as they have been the last couple of games.
  23. He probably needs to do 'an Eddie' in getting them up and keeping them there for a couple of seasons before he's in contention for a 'big club' (as spurs would regard themselves). Wonder if EH regrets not moving a season or so sooner whilst his stock was high. With a relegation and absence on his cv it might be some time before he's mentioned re 'big clubs' as the once 'up and coming manager'. If we don't offer him the lifeline, and can't see it after our last three games - if it was even on the cards before - then I can only see him in the EPL as a stand in until end of season somewhere.
  24. Wonder if Eddie's putting his best interview/press conference suit back in the wardrobe tonight.
