At Fratton? What time did you have to arrive at St Mary’s ?

I’m not sure the amber and black kit goes back that far. I’ve seen photos of us wearing plain white shirts as a change strip from early 20th century. I think the amber and black was a post war introduction, possibly late 40’s/early 50’s. We kept this until about 1973 when we followed the fashion of the time for a yellow and blue kit, it seems like every other club at that point. Agree about an amber and black away kit coming back though.

Have often wondered why we haven’t gone for quarters or r/w halves. Be quite happy with that ( but no plain back ffs). But I suspect the manufacturers and club are concerned how this detracts from the sponsor logo etc.

I don’t see the fascination for the navy blue, but not totally against it. As for the shirts - has to be stripes both sides for me. If not then I’d give up on stripes altogether. Annual plea for the Keegan era shirt to return from me as well.

Really hope not, one of our worst ever. That kit, and the red abominations under Cortese should be confined to the anal(l)s of history and never be seen again.

Apart from the history of appointments. They’ve had two opportunities to appoint a ‘proper manager’ in the last twelve months and both times have appointed young coaches to a position beyond their experience. Looks fairly good circumstantial evidence or track record to show the sort of ‘head coach’ they want.

He may not be putting the cones out at Staplewood or doing anything on a daily basis, but his influence seems to be all over the football side, with the data driven approach etc. Unless of course you know otherwise (from another reliable source you can share perhaps?)

Rightly or wrongly you have been noticed as defending SR and ,perhaps if only trying to add some balance, Rasmus. It isn’t speculation to see how we’ve done or where we might be heading with the current set up. Our downward trajectory over the time SR have been here will attract negative posts, and the prominent people in this process such as Rasmus will be the focus of fans anger. It does seem they have a reverse ‘Midas effect’, and most things they touch (manager appointments, player recruitment) turn to shit. Can you defend their record, or see them turning it round ? Interested in your last comment. Personally, I’m not bothered by SR ownership, but - from what we see from the outside - they need to bin the current stats approach and ‘head coach’ bollocks. Agree about the good save. Second goal though I thought was poor. You describe it quite well, he came off his line then hesitated leaving him stranded. The main positive about seeing Downes in the current kit is that from a distance a bloke with blond hair is reminiscent of David Peach. As for the contributions Flynn makes now, there’s not much of a case to make.
