We played in the old Cup Winners Cup (1976/77) whilst in 2nd Division.

Agreed. But this strikes me as part of the problem that SR think they can be identify someone to become the next great thing, but end up with someone less than average.

Perhaps he’s taken the accolade given to Puncheon once, described as taking his game to “a new level of shit”

For the third year running. I was optimistic when Darren Mowbray came onboard as he’d uncovered some decent signings for Aberdeen. Wonder how involved he is in the signings ? Either he isn’t identifying the players, or Bitcon, Dyson and Martin aren’t listening.

Cornet is another ‘run around’ merchant (when he can be bothered) and no end product. He’s like Sulemana except for a purple patch once upon a time at Burnley. Ugo put in some decent performances for Chelsea. But a couple of months with us and Martin has managed to get him (up) to the standard of everyone else.

Certainly wouldn't risk Ramsdale tonight.
-
Perhaps Ten Hag has a point.
-
There may not be many in number moving, but I’d expect to see Ramsdale, Dibling and Fernandes eyeing the exit door. Guardian we’ll have plenty no one else wants and we can’t get rid of. Doesn’t seem the basis of assembling an exciting squad.

Mods, can we run a poll please ? “Who agrees with the cunts, and who agrees with the pricks?”
-
Only if he brings his Uncle ‘Arry as an older head to help him

As TP is the only one out of them who can actually make it onto the pitch at the moment there doesn’t seem to be much of a contest.
-
Just to massage RM’s ego a bit more, yesterday did seem to throw up a bit of a ‘love in’ for Lego. Not only Pep, but the MOTD luvvies seem generous in their praise of how we played. No mention of a solitary point from nine games though.

Careful, I hear Manji stirring in the background…

Perhaps he realised that very few managers of note are interested. On another thread Master Bates says Zsolt Low has rejected us. That goes with others claiming to know both Potter (no surprise) and Moyes have told us to piss off. This is only from the Saints Forum Intelligentsia, so no idea if true. But perhaps it’s more a case the owners have abandoned the search. Foolish if true.

Reading supporting friend is proof of this. 12 months ago was critical of his ‘bizarre substitutions’ and playing players out of position ( although did acknowledge contraints he was working under). They looked a good bet for relegation at one point. Having got out of that and at the end of season Selles had won them over. Latest comment was that Selles was considering an approach from Cardiff, and Rdg we’re hoping he’d stay but don’t blame him if he walks with their ownership and financial issues

Until we get the recruitment right any manager will struggle in this regard. I’m not looking to defend RM completely but having the Sheffield Utd ‘dream team’ attack of Archer/BBD at his disposal is a significant handicap. That said perhaps TP needs more game time, that decision does rest with Martin.

Aspects that will be conveniently overlooked. -
Even Augustin Delgado scored for us once.

Not wanting to play in Europe. I can't see Rasmus wanting to be associated with such lack of ambition.
-
I think I’d cope without us getting the credit listening to 5Live on the way home and on MOTD somehow.
-
Of course no fucker saw this coming on agreeing a new contract. Perhaps we should pray for a Burley moment. The SFA get rid of Clark and pay some compensation to take him.
-
Let’s hope we’re not on a slippery slope to three managers again this season. If anyone can appoint a downgrade, we can. When Rasmus unveils a 64 year old chain smoking Bulgarian manager with an average record in their Second Division you might be looking back to RM’s time as a golden era. (Agree though - he’s out of his depth)
-
Notice he’s dropped the obsession with ‘scar tissue’ this season. Wonder why.
-
When ? The home game v Stoke was at the end of the season when we were already in the play offs, and going through the motions. One of our more lacklustre performances. We beat his Plymouth team down there early season. I suspect he’ll go down in the record books of ‘was highly rated once’ but no one knows why now, along with the Cowley Brothers, Danny Wilson etc.

Hope he doesn’t encounter a problem trying to import the traffic cones he needs
