Yes, mentally weak, and fragile. Might also want to add the failure to appeal decisions at the right time...I can't imagine many clubs (especially Liverpool, Man Utd or trhe other 'big' clubs) meekly accepting the shirt pull on Tall Paul v Leicester, or yesterday's double leading up to the Wolves second. Damn sure they'd have got a VAR review even if they'd needed to carry the ref over to the monitor. Interestingly the MOTD team all thought there had been fouls in the build up (And that our goal should have stood). I didn't think RM made enough of that either in his interview.

And if we’re really reckless with our shooting the opposition get to start their possession halfway up the field in the centre circle. Far too close to our goal for comfort.

Just seen, May 1976. Wonder what was occupying my thoughts that month ? Certainly wasn’t the Wurzels.

Thanks, not sure how credible the site quoted is (which seems to emanate from the wonderfully named Nick Mashitter).

In other words, we can’t defend and are completely impotent up front. Don’t wrap it up in 21st Century Xfactor phrasing about “the guys”, just admit what we can all see week after week.

What stories re DoF ? As for Carsley, that would be another desperate uninspiring appointment. Almost Lego Head II , but without the hair, beard, (and charisma ???).
-
But that would deviate from the “philosophy”.

As bizarre as that signing may seem, he is now possibly the only striker to panic the opposition. How damning is that of recruitment since ?
-
Seems to have gone a bit quiet on talk of a contract renewal
-
I preferred it when he was reported to have said ‘stop the count, Southampton have already won the league’.

Another thing crossed my mind today. Selecting THB and Ramsdale isn’t so much having a look at them in the England squad, as Carsley’s early job application. He was apparently at Brentford at some point I believe. Personally my response to this is ‘fuck off’ . Rather stick with ‘Lego Head’ than bring ‘Billiard Ball Head’ here.

Reminds me of Adkins time in the EPL with us when we were facing another team at the bottom of the table (forgot opponent) whose manager was also under pressure. One of the tabloids labelled the match the 'El Sackicco' contest. This was put to Adklins in an interview and he responded with a hearty laugh. Imagine Alfie House or Blackmore putting this to RM and he'd probably go into one of his more prickly modes.

Can only help long term ....£££££ ....

Worrying that THB will miss over a week at Staplewood of Martin coaching him to pass sideways. Perhaps he'll be benched on his return to enable a phased rehabilitation into the squad again and get up to (or down to) speed with it.

Yes. Providing neither get injured.

Perhaps Rishi will get him a ticket and invite him to the final

They lost their Sporting Director/DoF or whatever his title was to LIverpool in the summer.

Talk about re-writing of history...

Can we shoehorn vape, or vaping into that somewhere? (Not that either are justified but thought 'shoehorn' and 'vaping' are good in vogue words* to throw into a post about a current or possibly future manager) *by mongboard rather than OED standards that is.

Or perhaps a club works there way down to him as 7th or 17th option on their list...

Interesting. I certainly don't recall the card system being suspended in the 1980's but they were some of my 'prime' years, and watched most games through a beer induced haze.
-
And wait for Tall Paul to propel us up the table to safety. Perhaps history will be kinder to Nathan on reflection

I thought it was swearing at the referee. Story at the time was that he called the ref a wanker. Rodney Marsh asked why Best at had been sent off and after the ref explained he responded “well you are”. Ref didn’t have the nerve to send Marsh off as well. Marsh had received relentless abuse from the crowd from the start as he always did at The Dell.

It was red cards waved at Branfoot. I didn't know that about 1970 (then again in my defence I was quite young watching it on Black and White tv. For an 'anorak point' today though, I'm pretty sure cards were first used in England in 1976. George Best getting a red card at The Dell in October on the first day they were in use .
