Possibly, although that’s a matter for them to decide, if they want to or not. Multiple considerations, family, schools etc. Turning this round though, does he need to be based here, or in the UK at all ? Better if he is in my view but he can oversee recruitment etc from his laptop from anywhere with a connection, attend SFC once or twice a month.

What, and why ??? Is this subject to any time limits, before and after window closes for example?
-
Or perhaps they could arrange them in MIami, Seattle, Tokyo....

Most managers (or head coaches as often now termed) tend to bring an assistant and possibly backroom team with them. Lego had about three or four. Ralph seemed an exception, not replacing Rohl after he left. Agree with the point though that we seem a bit light in terms of the coaching staff around Still.

Glad he’s been ‘christened’ . I wondered how long it would take, and what it would be.

Can’t blame him for losing interest and the will to continue pumping money in if it continually flounders. I put the following on the Still thread, but might also be worth asking it here as well: Anyone know who from our hierarchy was in Hull yesterday to see how well our the team are performing? I recall seeing Kat at the skates game, but is Dragan a regular at home matches or does he rely on feedback from Spors ?

I think it was his wayward pass that led to their second goal.

I'm eagerly awaiting the fanfare and announcement of Bazunu's extended three year contract. You just know its around the corner don't you?
-
It’s very commendable to want to give him a sporting chance, and give him longer for the reasons you give. But I’ve not seen anything in our performances to suggest he will take advantage of the better players. And there is no track record in this league or country to back him up.* * await the Ligue 1 comparisons. Which is fine. Perhaps he’d be better off managing there.

People calling for the next three games, .. if he hasn’t done it by Derby, next international break etc .. It reminds me we went through the same with Lego last season when it was obvious to all but the imbeciles at SR that he was hopelessly out of his depth and wouldn’t turn things round as long as he had a hole in his arse.

These may be reasons to have some sympathy for the position Still is in, but what does it say about the recruitment in the first place, and the dickhead who appointed him. It also underlines the simple fact; the poor fucker is completely out of his depth.

Has Spoors been taken in by another fraud of a manager ?
Badger replied to Andrew Watson's topic in The Saints
Both points are true, but for what we’ve received in transfer fees, and spent we should be doing better. That in itself is on Spors (for recruitment) and Still (for selections and tactics). Spors has had since when, February?, knowing that relegation was a certainty. He hasn’t just arrived in July (as Koeman did). And Still has had a full summer to prepare the bulk of the squad, and identify weaknesses ( GK, and CF primarily) bringing them to Spors attention. -
Blackmore’s quiet on this front since yesterday. Possibly working to the principle of if you’ve haven’t got anything good to say, say nothing.
-
In six games we’ve gone from ambition of automatic promotion with the likelihood of an expensively assembled to squad to just mounting a challenge to get into the play-offs. That’s quite an achievement in a short space of time
-
Yes, he needs more time. But probably about five years to build up credibility in the English game. Poor appointment at the time, remains a poor option now. But as several have said, little confidence in SR getting it right.

Why is this ? The internet enables fans to communicate and organise a lot easier than in the day of SISA arranging Monday night meetings in pubs. Is it too easy just to vent the anger on social media and think it’s job done ? Note: Chelt Town sack manager tonight.

Can picture the woman on the end of the phone at Anfield saying “ sorry luv, did you say you’re not putting out a team cos they’ve all got the shits, or they are shit … , it’s a bad line “

In answer to the question from the title, you’d have expected an experienced DoF (or whatever the title) to be able to separate the wheat from the chaff in the selection process. That’s the purpose of his position and why Dragan pays him ( and his team that he spent a couple of months putting together). Has Spors been taken in, well he certainly saw something in Still that very few others did. Or he just wanted to make an appointment, any appointment, then having ticked that box move on to player recruitment. Next line to this: has Dragan been taken in by another charlatan whose CV lists several high profile clubs to impress (but doesn’t stay very long - food for thought ?- at any )and talks a good game. Worried ? More pissed off with the inevitability of it.- 29 replies

I was looking forward to Edwards this season after his time at QPR. Agree he struggled a bit v Moore in the Wrexham game, but that’s what having an experienced striker at this level brings you. My only concern witn Edwards is who he’s paired with and how he copes having to compensate for their deficiencies. Neither Jack or THB are real leaders at CB. Think there is still mileage with Edwards but he needs the opportunity. Anfield perhaps?
-
When you think of how much we spend on players, specifically gambling on Quarshie and Downes it seems like extremely false economy not paying for a manager (whether that be Rohl or anyone else). Bizarrely though we did have to pay compensation for Jones.
-
Nick Leeson. Wasn’t he recruited by Rupert Lowe ? Probably the most damaging he ever made if so. At least he didn’t leave his worst appointments until he came tonSaints. Or perhaps he did.
-
Think we should play Bazunu for this one. Just in case he picks up an injury.
-
Do they give them access to £million deals and make financial decisions?
-
The recruitment is one area where you can defend Still on, in that players are recruited by others and he has to work with what he’s given. Same for Ralph, and to a lesser degree Lego although he obviously had an input witn signing his chums. Having said that, Still should be getting a lot more from the amount we’ve spent, and players at his disposal.
