  1. Doubt we’re on his list though. Might have been a possibility if we were in the EPL, but a bloke with his experience etc will probably want a team with prospects of Europa League as a minimum
  2. Never ceases to amaze me how the TV companies bring in failed and sacked managers to provide exper analysis and pass judgement/comment on the game. GON, Lego, Rooney ... to talk about tactics of Pep, Slot whoever. Yet the saps lap it up.
  3. One day perhaps, but he's got a bit of work to do, and get experience under his belt before he does. And to offset the car crash time he spent with us on his CV
  4. Fucking hell, we can't have that, Rasmus will be jealous and probably name himself in the team next time out. Probably in a back 6,safety in numbers and all that.
  5. Well if Pilchards has seen Brendan at Staplewood from up his tree, then that’s good enough for me. (Plus he broke the story of the Nathan Jones link well ahead of it happening)
  6. “Yeh, providing its got todays colour sticker on it mate, that’s alright. Not bovvered about the hand granade or semtex in it …”
  7. Perhaps they’ll sack Mousinho, and take GON back to his spiritual home.
  8. I know what you mean about Eckert but I still feel it is too early in his career for this job. He also needs to ‘find his feet’ by himself, and not be steamrollered into a style or selections to suit Rasmus. For the above reason I can’t see Brendan Rodgers being brought in as he wouldn’t conform to suit skinny jeans fucking hipsters and their spreadsheet game. Say what you want about Rodgers - and he comes across as a smug twat - but he probably does know his way round the football world.
  9. Middlesbrough would be a better option for him. (Although hoping they go for GON).
  10. Good review of Carrick’s time there. As you say, had a feeling of familiarity to it. From the outside I always thought their selling of their striker in January contributed to his undoing but seems a few other factors at play.
  11. Thought the Man City home shirt this season looked familiar.
  12. If Spors has Eckert’s best interest in mind then he won’t be burdened with the job. It’s early in his career and could destroy his confidence and career if it goes wrong.
  13. Credit to Spors and Lederer for scouting and bringing him in. We give them flak for some of the crap so only fair to acknowledge their part in signing Scienza ( and Fellows in time)
  14. Really sad news, and very sorry to read it. I had a message from him a few months ago following some posts on here. We were of a similar ‘vintage’ and shared some memories of better days at SFC. He started a few thought provoking threads on here. Seemed a really nice bloke. Sorry for your loss.
  15. I think the skate connection can be overcome but there will be a fair bit of resentment towards him. There have been some fairly dramatic switches of allegiance that have been overcome in the past ( although times and attitudes were different): Sir Matt Busby played for Liverpool and Man City before managing Man Utd. Bob Stokoe played over 200games for Newcastle and later managed Sunderland. Toshak born and bred in Cardiff, managed Swansea Steve Bruce ?? Putting his skate links aside, it isn’t an appointment to get excited about.
  16. John Mortimore, former Assistant Manager to Ted Bates managed them for a couple of years I think. Returned years later to work with Lawrie. Many would have liked him to take over when Lawrie left but he was already committed to joining Benfica.
  17. Paul Gilchrist. Ron Davies.
  18. I'd be happier with that as a short term option than lumbering us with some twat for 3 years.
  19. The likes of Carrick, Lampard, and Gerrard will command a premium over unproven managers after one season in the EPL at this stage of their career.
  20. Apart from Russell Martin.
  21. Salary expectation. A twat who played for skates isn't going to be seeking the same as a former ManUtd , England international, who is currently well respected (and has a beard). Only flaw is that Carrick might want to stay up north. GON though might want to locate his former caravan away from a PO postcode.
  22. To be honest, I’d overlook his previous Pompey connections, but don’t particularly want him as he seems crap, and by reputation so is his style of play.
  23. If that is spread on the internet as it probably will be then you’d expect Spors and co to pull the plug. Shame for the media team who’ve been working overtime to produce something to pleasantly ease him in. They’ll have to rework it now. I suggest a title of ‘GON with the wind’, (subtitled - fuck off you dirty skate bastard)
  24. Of those available, Carrick seems the most credible option. And I’m not convinced he’s the answer. Just hope Spors uncovers the right one whilst conducting his search in Germany.
  25. Pretty damning for many people
