I'm not a fan of his pissing around at the back, and slow build up simply recycling possession, but I think it'd be a greater risk to change manager now. Added to which, the usual question of who would come in and improve things ? Even if you offered me Cooper I'd take the view we'd be better off staying the course with RM. ('old man Steptoe' or 'Lego Head'... difficult one...)

What absolute load of bollocks. Takes “noddyness” to a new level.

Agree with you. I think Fisher went on to work as a rep for a Brewery after he retired. Often used to see him in the old East Stand at The Dell, probably buying his own match tickets. Selling the medals does emphasise the gulf in what players earnt then and now. Thought I read that the club had previously bought Peter Rodrigues medal.

Don’t be so disrespectful. “Daily Express 5-a-side Cup - you’ll never win that.. “

Can’t blame him for losing our most important player, Downes, due to injury. But the selections of Manning, and how he looks to replace Downes with the ineffective Smallbone is on Martin
-
Has anyone christened him Enzo-head, Pep-head or anything like that ?
-
Serious set backs though. But yes, things can change in a couple of games.
-
No we were too busily occupied in not reaching agreement with Swansea for Martin.
-
Saddest thing is that we’re unlikely to capitalise on it. Bristol City, Hull … great opportunity after a lot of hard work and we balls it up.
-
Most of the doubts were expressed when we were in the Premiership though as I recall. Thought he was quite impressive when they played us, but then again our performance that night probably isn’t a decent yardstick to use.
-
I remember him playing but I was too young to appreciate the finer points of his game you refer to.

Sounds perfect for us now. (Going over old ground I know, but I always though Dickson a good player at that level, and was disappointed for him it didn't work out as well as it might have done).
-
David Peach might be up for game as well. Could be handy to bring off the bench in the event of a penalty shoot-out in the playoffs. You know it makes sense. Meanwhile we'll trundle on with Manning.

Has unfinished business with this club.

That’s the spirit. Expect a blocked drain as well soon.
-
Difference being there isn’t an agent telling your house to sulk, and refuse to perform.
-
VAR panel decided there was an infringement just before that clip so play will have to be pulled back. Only problem being most of the players have since pegged it.

Bolton were a horrible club to play against in those days in Div 2. We tried to play good football under Lawrie but they seemed a team of cloggers. Not sure we beat them over the next few years, both clubs getting promoted in 1978. From the game you mention, they scored on the break against the run of play (something to get used to for the years ahead). Other recollection was the big plodding centre half just heading everything away or hoofing it upfield. Big twat with a moustache. One Sam Allardyce esq. ( never liked the prick after those second division tussles).

I think Jim McCalliog made his debut for us in that game. will check later

Several clubs finished above Swansea so you’d have thought one of them at least

Typical. Perhaps we should find a hard nosed Swiss-Italian businessman to deal with the Juventus DOF: ‘ it’s on our terms, or … it’s the horse’s head ..’

Was it last season he was the LB in the Championship team of the season ? How ?

In the early 70’s I remember George Best terrorising us a The Dell. This was featured on MOTD with all the arselicking commentary. Showed a clip of him holding has hand up after one of his goals, and that was enough. I hurled a sandwich at the screen yelling an obscenity. Parents not impressed. My Dad had a ‘word’ , and got to say never considered doing it again. Proper parenting in them days.

Surprised no one has mentioned Highbury 1984, and that midget runt Heath. Hated Everton ever since. ( if I didn’t before).

Not sure I rate Charles any higher tbh. He may have more potential but that’s not what we need now.
