  1. Thought he was a bit sluggish at times yesterday by his own standards. But he’s been tremendous for us since signing and above all just got to acknowledge his attitude and application in getting on with the job, in some style at times, despite all the shit that’s gone on around him at the club over last couple of seasons. Remarkable thing is for me is that he was probably our third choice for RB at the time , IF reports were accurate, of trying first to sign Maehle (from Genk was it?), then the publicised attempt to sign De Fuik (or similar) in the summer who then chose to go to Berlin. Maehle later impressed for Denmark, but De Fuik seemed to fall out of the picture (eventually being on loan at Blackburn).
  2. Agree. We’ve been crying out for a CF for two or three seasons. Despite the fact we seem to be fairly free scoring December onwards, still don’t think we convert enough of the chances we create. Just hope this doesn’t haunt us at the end of the season.
  3. What a twat Worse than the infamous mars bar.
  4. Anyone else recognise the piper on the bridge with the bagpipes before the match ? He was also at Huddersfield. Rotherham fan said he attends all home matches there playing for charity collection. He seems to spot a Saints fan from 100yards changing from Flower of Scotland/Scotland the brave to OWTS in an instant.
  5. First half excellent. Second half we were a bit sloppy at times. But three points, onwards and upwards. Good day out - barring a hold up n the M1 out of Rotherham. Locals very friendly bunch.
  6. Definitely. Not sure he’d only be back up if he joined us though.
  7. Evening Les, enjoying the retirement ?
  8. Ditto
  9. Revised draw for FA Cup 5th Round: Liverhampton v Southampton & Boscombe Athletic
  10. If it provides a few gems along the way then perhaps only fair we can overlook the nepotism.
  11. I had missed this but credit to RM for this. We reached a bit of a peak under WGS with our fitness so good to see this approach. Less tired in last 10 minutes helped not only chasing a game but seeing it out, with less mistakes.
  12. Disappointing news that Alcaras is off on loan, but can’t begrudge him an opportunity like this ( and it’s a lot more palatable than him going to Liverpool, or staying in the UK with another club). Despite his poor showing on Sunday (not alone there though) I always had hope of him doing something when on the ball. Enjoyed watching him, he always seemed to play as if he meant it, not just going through the motions. I expect Brooks can offer some flair going forward so might not miss him this season. Of our own players CA was one of only a few I thought would make the step up in the EPL next year.

Yes. Summer 2018, we miss out on Maddison, don't go for Brooks, but sign Ely.
  14. Potentially an excellent bit of business. Now lets get Miovski in just to cement it, and have someone who take take advantage of the chances that will come their way. Either that or some miraculous surgery and recuperation for Ross Stewart. And keep KWP and Alcaraz locked up for the next 28 hours or so.
  15. Now that might not go down too well among the blue rinses in Dorset.
  16. I’ve not seen him and some of his nearby cronies since about 2020 at St Mary’s or away matches.

Saw his name linked with Ipswich the other week
  18. I wasn’t aware of the history and had forgotten some of those games. The match that sticks in my mind is 1983 League Cup tie at their place. Shilton was injured or ill so we started with Ally Sperring in goal. After about 5 minutes he came for a cross and clobbered our CB Mark Wright breaking his nose. Lost 2-1. Don’t think Sperring played for us again. So losing the match, and one of our best players the same match. I know that was their old ground but seems Rotherham is jinxed for us. Perhaps we should take the White Witch with the team on Saturday.

Hope the DEF will be out in force at Rotherham with that one
  20. Just need some fucker in the middle to take advantage of it then,... but I agree with you.
  21. Think this has already been raised... ... although not with complete approval or agreement
  22. Agree. Great shame Dave Jones wasn’t able to play him and Lee Todd in the same back four.
  23. Thought he was the ‘Worst CB Debut Award’ , until Bennett ( on loan from Reading). Marshall might shade it on OG’s if taken over three games though. Holgate at Sunderland worthy of honourable mention here ( although not sure if playing CB or RB, in truth he played as neither).
  24. Absolutely. This is beginning to rival Gaston Ramirez for ‘ Never to be forgotten, but yet to be matched first game award’.
  25. I have fond memories of going to the visitor centre seeing it under construction with my son who was about 5, and an elderly relative (sadly no longer with us) seeing the stadium under construction. Structural steels protruding skywards, and cranes loading pre-cast concrete sections into place. Lasting memory my son pointing out a dumper truck moving along one length of the ground. Couldn’t help but comment that it was a lot quicker than we were used to seeing Benali go down that side of the pitch.
