  1. I addition to comments abouy 09/10, looking at wiki I see that within a few weeks we sold McGoldrick for one million and signed Lambert for the same price. That has to be a great bit of business.
  2. Like I said, I have no problems apologising for the accidental insult that may be taken, but the question is pretty relevant.
  3. Lord Duckhunter, you've avoided this question three times now. Does that mean that it does come down to this? Or are all of the MPs now proper Tories?
  4. Tony Lynam and the Pinnacle consortium Paul Allen
  5. At first glance, you have a point, but then one remembers that Tommy Forecast was signed instead of keeping the sell on clause for Gareth Bale. I think this makes Tommy Forecast one of the most expensive signings we've ever made. Tommy Forecast.
  6. In: Pelle Mane Long Tadic Betrand Forster Alderweireld (loan) Out: Lambert Lallana Shaw Lovren Chambers Cork Do Prado Barnard Such a huge change, and as you say, led to our most succesful team of the era.
  7. In 2008-9 our transfers in nembered four: Tommy Forecast Antony Pulis Lee Molyneux Ryan Smith So the book is closed on "worst transfer season".
  8. Which year do you rate as Saints best for players coming in? Up to you if you factor in who left the same year and what we got for them. I brought this up because for some reason I found myself looking at 98-99 and seeing that we brought in: Beattie Pahars Marsden Kachloul who all had a major impact on an improved team over the next few years. as well as the slightly less successful Howells Hughes Ripley which at least showed ambition. At the same time we sold Kevin Davies for a, then, whopping 7.5m after only 25 appearances and even managed to get over a million for a clapped out Carlton Palmer. All this under the leadership of Dave Jones. What other seasons stand out for you? Probably a few during our rebirth from league one.
  9. *Duckhunter Damnit, now it's autocorrecting to the new word I seem to have taught it. Again, not deliberate
  10. *Dickhunter Apologies, that really was a genuine typo, not a cheap insult.
  11. Lord Dickhunter, I've asked a few times, but you seem to avoid answering. Rather than call them out after they leave the party, who are the libdems still in the Tory party now? Or is that all of them?
  12. It's very smooth flowing in my experience. I've never been stopped or checked crossing it. You just drive right through. There is, of course, a checkpoint and border security, but Norway is in Schengen, so passport checks are a rarity. The closest I've come to a check was when I arrived in Oslo by coach from Gothenburg. A customs officer approached me as I walked away from the coach. Obviously it was pretty pointless and ineffective, as he had no way of knowing where I had come from.
  13. Are you pro- no deal? How do you feel about an open unchecked border? Doesn't that mean the government is going back on the whole spirit of Brexit? Or with a hard border, how do you feel about re-igniting the Irish issue that took so many years and so much effort to pacify?
  14. Who are the other libdems in the Conservative party? If you only say they were libdems after they leave, it has that kind of "bitter, jilted boyfriend retort" sound. Who do they need to kick out who's still there?
  15. Can one of the people who want to leave on 31 October whatever the situation tell me about this? I'm not looking to argue, I teach Norwegian students who have to research and look into Brexit and other current affairs. I can explain to them what the objections to the backstop are, I can explain the problems of a hard border, but they all ask what the no deal supporters want to do and what will happen. When the answer seems to involve keeping a border open and unchecked for goods and people coming in, they find it utterly confusing and I have no answers. Are you happy with an unchecked border in the UK that people can just enter through with no immigration or other control? Am I missing something about where the controls will be? Is this what you would choose rather than more discussion and negotiation to work out a solution?
  16. I understand what you are saying. Who are the others still in the party that you think don't belong?
  17. That's a very odd thing to say. Who are some of the other Conservative MPs you think are actually Libdems in this conspiracy? Or is that all of them now?
  18. I still don't entirely get this. Boris wants to keep a completely open border with Europe? Is that what his supporters really want? Free movement of people and goods with no checks on the border? I'm not trying to be obtuse, I really can't get my head around how it fits with Brexit.
  19. Crouch did a great job, big stepdown after that...
  20. Who are the players who we still remember as being a big part of the team, but were actually only with us for about the length of a season? I feel like there have been a few. Off the top of my head: Bale Walcott Alderweireld Ekelund Oxlade Chamberlain Lovren (He WAS excellent for us) Berkovic Any others who came and gave us something to cheer about for about 45 games or fewer? Can we make a team of one season players?
  21. I can imagine no Mark Dennis, because you want to limit how far back we go, but weird to miss out Bale and Bridge. Anyway, using what we'vr been given, and basing it on a mixture of ability and what they gave the team: 1. Ryan Bertrand 2. Luke Shaw (Huge potential and got a great fee, but gave less to the team than Bertrand has since) 3. Dan Harding (He was a very reliable player and an ever present during an important time) 4. Francis Benali (Mainly through character and time) 5. Matt Targett (Thought he was a decent, competent player, but never really got to contribute much) 6. Gregory Vignal (He had some ability, where I felt Danny Fox actively made the team worse) 7. Patrick Colleter (Have to admit I remember little about seeing him play) 8. Danny Fox
  22. I have to agree with this. I'm interested in hearing more from both sides of the discussion, as I find it interesting to see how people perceive this step into unknown territory. However I just stop reading when I come to words like this and skip to the next. The same thing goes for someone describing others as rabid or clueless. It's just not how adults behave if they have anything genuine to contribute.
  23. Scanning this thread is utterly ruined by those people who can't discuss it with silly playground insults back and forth. If you have a valid point, discuss and argue it. Why do you need to call everyone who disagrees with you names? Your argument should surely be enough. People will always disagree with you or interpret the data differently. It doesn't make them wrong or stupid, it just means they experience things differently to you and may have different priorities. Live with it. There's an interesting discussion being had by those who stick to the issues. Accept that each side has its merits and challenges and that you've simply chosen the path that you perceive fits you best, not some non-existant "correct" answer. Well done to those managing to rise above it. Your points are coming across far more convincingly.
