Would have liked it if the shoe were on the other foot, so fair enough. Surprised if the players involved okayed it though, would they have to?

I predict Long will turn out to be a more successful signing than Pelle, Tadic or Taider, but that may not be saying much. Calum Chambers will be called up for England this season. Lallana will be widely seen as an expensive flop for Liverpool.

Assuming no one else leaves. Boruc Clyne Fonte Gardos Bertrand Wanyama Cork Schneiderlin Davis Long Ramirez bench: Forster, pelle, Tadic, Yoshida, JWP, Targett, Reed I know Forster won't have signed to go on the bench, but just think it's Boruc's place until he loses it. I don't want too many new faces in key positions from the start, so let them come in as they prove they can fit the team.

I just use an HDMI cable. I can get it on the PS3, Wii, Apple TV and Ipad too, but it's still a lot more fuss to change regions with those. Definitely worth searching around a bit if you've seen the best of your local stuff. Canada, Netherlands, Brazil, US and Norway are all alternative selections to the UK list, there may be others. I'm sure Netflix don't mind people doing it as they would just want everyone to keep paying, the differences are surely just license issues. I heard Ricky Gervais saying the other day that his next output will be for Netflix as they are the only ones who will just let him make his own stuff without interfering.

You can choose any country in the world if you use Hola, free too. Every country has completely different content. For example, the fairly crappy Norwegian list still has Star Trek as a main film, whereas Canada have had Into Darkness for ages. I just saw the Netherlands already have Frozen , which was still playing in cinemas well into this year, they've got Thor 2 as well. Some countries have far more seasons of major TV series too.

Just wondered which regions people usually use for Netflix, or what gems people have found in other regions. There used to be a lot of focus on how to get US Netflix, but for me that seems to be the weakest one these days, whereas as far as I can tell, Canada has a lot of the newest and best stuff, certainly the only region to have Community. I have also taken a peek at the Netherlands and see they have the whole season of Fargo, so I may check that out too.

fed up/injured? Lol. I don't think you can really post those two like they're the same thing. I don't remember him ever leaving the pitch because he was "fed up". Even Alpine hasn't tried to claim he did that. If he left the pitch because he was injured, that's a different thing altogether, isn't it?

Worth mentioning again that in the 2012-13 season when they both played regularly, Ramirez had a bet rate of goals and assists than JRod. If JRod was worth bearing with, why not Ramirez? He wasn't particualrly bad last season, MP just didn't play him. There's only so much he could ever do when he's not given a role in the team. I thought he was a good professional last season, just getting on with it despite being relegated to the bench. I don't remember any real posturing or whining.

Callum Chambers to play right midfeild this season?
norwaysaint replied to peacey's topic in The Saints
We've been trying for years to replace Paul Telfer, looks like Chambers is our man. -
Those are ridiculous comments. We dropped 30 points from winning positions because we weren't good enough to win those matches. Teams that finish in the CL places don't drop that many points from winning positions, that's why they're good enough and we're not. We slumped when certain players were injured because we didn't have a good enough squad. The CL teams get just as many injuries to their top players. You make it sound like we would've come close if we weren't so unlucky, but we were no more unlucky than anyone else. If all of our best players never got injured and no teams were good enough to beat or draw with us when we scored first, then I agree we would've come close, but hadn't we better put those conditions on every other club, which would leave us back in the same place?
-
But the teams that qualify for the CL waste 30m in transfer fees on a regular basis, they have the same hit and miss rate on transfers as we do. If you suggest we would do better if all of our transfers were as good as we'd hoped, you have to do the same for every club, which would still leave the top clubs with far better squads than us. We weren't especially unlucky in the transfer market, we just discovered that the higher the transfer fees you're working with, the higher the chance that the player turns out to be over-priced. Think how many united and Liverpool players over the years have turned out to not be worth the fee they commanded.

We'd be very poor with Clyne at LB, a few people have got a bit carried away with his ability there. No matter how ready he is, Targett would be a better bet. I'd also like to see Chambers used in another position if not at RB, I think he could do a job at CD or in midfield. Interesting that even with losses, many people still wouldn't play JWP.

Why is Saints Academy so good at producing players?
norwaysaint replied to blair3's topic in The Saints
I think we get a bit carried away with the hype of the academy. It's certainly produced some top class players that we've made good money, but it's no conveyor belt. There have been very few strikers come through, very few top class central defenders, few top class central midfielders and no goalies I can think of. We have done exceptionally well with full backs though. Most players that come through the academy end up going nowhere, most that get a career end up in league one or the championship. It's a better record than most, but we've come nowhere near building a team from it. recent hype has made quite a few people believe that Targett will step up to replace Shaw, Reed is the new Scholes, when he's probably the new Simon Gillett, JWP is the new Beckham and Gallagher will replace Lambert. I haven't really seen enough to convince me that any of those will have a long career in the PL. Like everyone I hope they do, but so far only Chambers has proven he can hold his own in the PL for me, once Shaw and AL are gone. -
I only remember Clyne having one decent half game at LB and a couple of slightly dodgy stints there after that. I think his ability to switch to the left has been hugely over-rated and don't see him as anything more than an emergency sub at that position. He'll be found out very quickly there if it becomes a regular thing.
-
In his first year outperformed JRod on goals and assists per game, in his second season, never given a run of matches to produce any kind of form, but wasn't bad on the few occasions he played. a lot of people seem to judge his ability mostly on his time out of the first team, which it don't entirely get. It's a bit speculative. If you didn't rate him on his first season, then do you think JRod should've been shipped out too?

Can't read too much into any result or performance as Costa Rica have already qualified and will likely rest some of their better players and take a look at some on the fringe too.
-
Haven't seen anything about it on here, but I see that our favourite former saints manager Harry Redknapp has been in the news claiming that while he was at spurs he would often have two or three players trying to get his help to avoid England duty. So who would that have been then? Or is it just publicity seeking nonsense? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/27966260

I would expect Hodgson to play it safe in a game like this.
-
Well, it's not easy being a group committed to being on the far right in a left hand drive country.
-
Great Liverpool team up for the Suarez goal. Bet they've been working on that one in training.
-
Johnson may not be great, but he's been better than Baines in both matches.
-
I'm really wondering why Baines is rated so highly at the moment, he's been one of the weakest players on the pitch both matches so far. Gerrard's hardly shone either has he?
