    Covid

Everyone is ill (Fellows, Robinson, Jander). Rather than having caught the shits off of Downesy, perhaps there's a covid in the camp. Would explain the second half lethargy we keep seeing!
  4. Blackburn home form is played 6, won 0, drew 1, lost 5. Home win is a dead cert.
  5. Yep, decent shout, although I'd pick Quarshie ahead of THB at the moment, if fit. The key to that would be that Downes holds his position. He does like to get upfield, so he would need to curb that enthusiasm. What the club has been missing for years is a big African to shield the centre backs. Would also need Charles and Jander to link with the wingers so we aren't just pinging balls into the box for Armstrong, but I think they could do that. It also allows for sitting deeper at times and springing a counter attack with proper wide forwards.
  6. No, no, no! We need 3 CBs and wingers playing out of position and two "10"s. System is working!
  7. I'm still holding out hope for the Arigo Sacchi and Paul Hart dream team one day.

    Completely agree.
  9. Can I get a Reeecycle round the back line?
  10. In Europe? Not particularly. Just Vatican City.
  11. I'll summarise Hypo's plan. (Sorry, it's not Hypo's plan, it's just a plan). 1) remove human rights 2) more boats in the water (not sure what they do when they find a boat- sink it? Drag it to France? Call Rupert Lowe?) 3) some big camps. Sort of concentrate the people together. 4) Anyone who can be identified back home. 5) Anyone who can't be identified > off to Rwanda / the moon.
  12. I'm not saying we should! I'm not advocating!
  13. We could just gas them all. I'm not saying we should. I'm saying we could.

Agreed. Also a sign of our weird recruitment that we haven't signed a proper defensive CM. As you say, it's not Charles' natural game and I don't think it's Jander's or Downes' either. We need a big athletic bloke in there to protect the defence.

For some reason, this really cracks me up:

Come off it. Stephens and THB have been promoted from this league before. Wood is experienced and has done alright (yesterday excepted). Edwards was one of QPR's players of the season. Quarshie is a bit raw but is a beast. If we can't make a decent pairing that's on the coaches.

Yes. Jones was clearly wrong man, wrong place. Just an awful fit and probably never going to be successful at PL level. Was obvious after 2 matches. By the time he left we were done and Selles was never going to achieve much. Reset with Martin. Certainly wasn't a dud in terms of getting across his ideas and putting a mark on the team. And he got good enough results to get promoted. Clearly, our approach was suicidal in the Premier League, although how unbelievable is it, in hindsight, that our signings to gear us up for that campaign were Ben Brereton Diaz and Cameron Archer and we went into the season with the Macca/Bazz double act? Mental. Then we had Juric, although again we were as good as down by that point. I don't think he was a good fit and I'm not sure he really wanted the job but I'm sure it was a nice payday. I don't count temps like Rusk, who was never really the proper manager, just someone to kill time. So, yes, it's quite possible, in my view.

Are you serious? You think all the other successful teams in the division with a back 4 have materially better centre backs than we do? You're making excuses for poor coaching and organisation.
  19. Good post. Also, why did you steal Nic's log in?
  20. Should have gone for him in the summer but he went to Brondby last month.

And why didn't we let him bring his coaches? It's not like ours have been doing brilliantly.

It's the adaptation point that annoys me. Still has been unlucky with things out of his control in the last two games. Like you say, that second goal required two perfect deflections to fall to their forward, Archer missed a chance, Charles had a golden chance with a header... and we all know about the Swansea chances. But in both games, which are really starting to approach "must wins" if we're serious about getting into the top 2, the other teams made changes which helped them, and all our coaches and manager could do was swap the wing backs, or make like for like subs. Finishing last night with 3 CBs and one CM was retarded.

It's also on him. If he thinks our "old guard" have bad attitudes, play new signings. Play Roerslev, play Azaz, play Fellows. Scienza has been good. He obviously likes Welly. Armstrong is doing well and always busts a gut. Charles has been very good. Jander is new and has been good. So, who is he talking about.. ? Stephens, THB, Downes? Leave them out. Use new signings and U21s. At the end of the day, I simply don't believe we have a huge group of bad eggs, so he needs to earn his corn and manage anyone who is dragging us down. Edit: I should also add that, if this is a difficult bunch to manage, the appointment of Still obviously reflects badly on SR. If true, even more reason to go for an experienced manager with gravitas, not a nipper.

    Flynn Downes

Maybe he could slot in as a 4th CB?
