You’d certainly give her one up the Brexiter.
-
It’s a strange move for the player because once Cédric is fit he probably isn’t going to play much.
-
Correct. You can criticise aspects of his match but the goal was not his fault at all.
-
Unfortunately VAR was taking a dump when we had a pen appeal.
-
This ref is bad.

We should be better at it though. If JWP goes down midweek then Zaha has to walk. And god knows why we didn't go mad for that handball.
-
I think it hit his chest but seeing as VAR didn't bother reviewing it wasn't conclusive. Bizarre that there was no review

Great finish!

That's a clear handball! Where the duck is VAR?

Handball?

Palace 0-2 Saints. Wild celebration reaction thread.

I'm not sure we did that when we qualified for Europe, really. We bought in a couple of fillers like Martina but I don't think we bloated the squad, we just replaced the big players badly and for some reason we marginalised Fonte. Puel had to make do with KD in goal, Stephens and Yoshida at the back because we didn't replace VVD, cheapo Charlie up front because we didn't replace Pelle etc. As everyone knows, we wasted loads of money on signings that contributed naff all (Hoedt, Carillo, Elyonnousi, Lemina etc.). It wasn't a volume problem, just poor selection. -
Our level obviously dropped off in the second half at the weekend. Partly due to pressure but probably partly due to a bit of fatigue. I’d make a few changes. It’s a shame we don’t have any other options at full back but I’d go with: McCarthy Cedric Stephens Yoshida Bertrand Romeu JWP Armstrong Djenepo Obafemi Long When you’re playing Palace, there are two main things you need to do: 1) kick Zaha a few times early on and wind him up, get in his face before he gets to your box 2) show Townsend outside (wouldn’t actually be the worst idea in the world to play a right footed left back but obviously Valery isn’t around; if we wanted to rest Bertrand we could give Danso a go)

Healthiest president ever.

AIDS is a bit 80s / 90s. Maybe, "he's got gender dysmorphia but we don't celebrate his diversity" would be better.

Agreed. It was one of those matches where you play ok but somehow find yourselves two nil up without having really dominated or done anything special.

The problem wasn't so much that he dived in, it was that he didn't take Traore out when he could have. It looked like he pulled out of the challenge when he realised the ball was gone. Should have wiped him out for a yellow.
-
Yeah. And you can tell them their win is meaningless, buikt on tapping-up and VAR, with the rest of the chasing pack weak as they will ever be. Basically, a pointless, soon-to-be-forgotten season.

The clue is in the name, I guess.

Good summary.

That leaves us with three centre forwards in a team that plays with two. So we would need a CF. That leaves us with no left backs, so we would need two of those. That leaves us with two central midfielders, one of whom can't get in the team now so we would need two of those. One right back who has been poor this season. RB needed. Two centre backs, so we would need another two.... etc. There's no way we will sign the best part of ten good players in the summer.

That was at 2-2.

Whilst Stephens and Bednarek have been great lately they were always going to have a bad game at some point, and they did today. Credit to Bednarek for the excellent goal but when he committed to the challenge on Traore for the first he needed to make sure he brought him down. The penalty was Stephens not spotting the run quickly enough and then making a stupid tackle when Cedric could possibly have covered. Then the third was Stephens ball watching instead of stepping up. If he took one stride forwards Traore would probably have been offside but he wasn't aware. Still, no point hanging anyone out to dry after the recent run, where they've been great, but that was a really bad game to take no points from going into two tough PL matches now.

Yep. Shouod have tried to dig in for 15 minutes then put some fresh legs on up top.
