  1. I've seen different, most Juve fans I've seen comment rate him but said he wasn't getting enough game time as they have a very talented midfield. Plus this is a player we have been tracking for 3 years so I'm going to trust the club on this one as they rarely get it wrong. You have to be pretty decent to get that many games at Juve, especially this current Juve team and get on the pitch in the Champions League final.
  2. The link above your post fits the bill - Vietto. Whilst that link is not a glowing reference, for sub 20 million euros he'd be worth the risk, 23, clearly very talented but not quite found his feet, good dribbler, quick etc. They seemed to say he had a terrible time on loan at Sevilla last year but scored 6 in 14 starts, with 3 assists in the league and got a hat trick in a cup game so that doesn't look that disastrous. He was a highly rated young prospect but doesn't seem to have quite made it, I'd imagine Pellegrino knows a fair bit about him. If we could off load Long for £10 million, and get Vietto for £15 million then that would be some good business I reckon .
  3. Wait...... There is one sensible Liverpool fan look, who is self aware - but most of the morons are disagreeing with him - LMAO finishing 7th, 6th and 8th is 'Challenging for the title now', guys we've had it all wrong, we have been challenging for the title all this time with our top 8 finishes. This comment is also a classic - LMAO. Pretty much all the Barca team would walk into the Liverpool one.
  4. Yeh basically they have made all that up. IIRC Pellegrino told him to train alone because he (VVD) wasn't in the right frame of mind or whatever to play and Pellegrino only wanted players that were 100% committed, I think the fine was for him walking out of a contracted media event. There are also reports he refused to play in the friendlies but not sure if that is correct. There is literally no evidence of us having any financial problems. We've only spent about £20 million on transfers this year between the two players and we sold jay Rod for £12 million so our net spend is only like £8 million which is probably the highest net spend we've had for like 3 years. Clasping at straws springs to mind, I think they must have thought the transfer request would change things but it hasn't and their club are no closer to signing him. Their board won't bid unless ours ok's it and that is very unlikely whatever VVD wants, and the board seem pretty firm on him not being sold full stop, I reckon only a very high bid from Chelsea or similar would persuade them. Would love it if Coutinho goes to Barca but VVD stays here.
  5. No not really, I'm sure if he buckled down, maybe apologised etc. most people would get behind him if he performed on the pitch. End of the day if he's here in October/November putting impressive performances most people will have forgotten all this drama, we are fans of the club and if VVD helps the club win games I don't really care. Plus we don't really need to strengthen that much, we'd obviously need to replace him but after that IMO we are going to be struggling to find players that improve the first team + want to come + we can afford their wages + don't cost us £50-60 million.
  6. We only need a replacement if he goes, I think that all basically depends on Chelsea meeting the club's valuation, I'd also reckon we'd probably only agree to the sale if we had time for a replacement. I still think if we could persuade them to part with Christensen it would be an excellent deal but I am seeing stories saying Conte really likes him so maybe they won't even go for VVD. The more days tick on, the less likely VVD is going IMO. Personally rate Forster just think he had a below par year last year, like I said in the other post we aren't going to get a better keeper without spending £30-40 million or finding a young one on the cheap (like the new Hart) or one comes through the youth ranks. We aren't going to spend £30-40 million on a keeper, look at Pickford for example, cost that much and currently no better Forster IMO, someone like Butland would cost the same if not more. But if Boufal comes good, Ward-Prowse improves again this year, Stephens continues his progress and Gabbi can recapture his early form then we are looking pretty good IMO.
  7. Presuming VVD stays and we get him to play, do we need anyone else? Are we going to get an upgrade on any of our first team players without spending £40-50 million? I'm presuming Stephens rise, coupled with Yoshidas consistency has eliminated the pressing need for Fontes replacement and we have Bednerak as more competition in that position. Lamina adds that physicality and pace in the middle that we lost when Wanyama and Morgan left. We have four strikers vying for one spot it looks like and I'm not sure a club of our stature is going to get much better a striker than Austin or Gabbi unless we unearth a young gem. And whilst I reckon we probably lack the goalscoring midfielder I presume they expect continued development from JWP and Redmond, plus a much better season from Boufal.
  8. Hopeful about this one, whilst he wasn't a starter for Juve, he still got plenty of game time and you have to be decent for that happen, especially in recent years. And as Les says, this is a guy who just played in the Champions League final. He might have more trophies won than our whole squad put together.
  9. Ah that's good, no one key, and makes sense considering the competition there and he's not likely to get any better whereas Hojberg has potential.
  10. I'd reckon Gibson is just paper talk to be honest. Very rare we buy from other English clubs these days, and certainly not for massive amounts of money. The loan with a view to buy could be Baker, those are more the sort of deals I reckon we do with other English clubs. Hope the centre-backs are better than Gibson and Sakho. Why did we send Harry Lewis on loan if need to get a GK in?
  11. I'd have Gibson but not at £30 million, plus I kind of feel he's basically Stephens, we have our own home grown 24 year old centre-back that plays in a similar way. Plus that article is correct, we need the aerial presence. I also reckon the Sun is basically just putting 2 + 2 and getting 5 with that Gibson link. Probably his agent stirring up some interest because no one has met Borough's valuation.
  12. No we aren't that is nonsense, we are a football club, a good one in the premier league, that offer good wages. Players like Mane, VVD, etc. were never going to straight to Liverpool or Man Utd, other players of their caliber are not in the future but will still want higher wages and to play in the premier league. We buy players to improve the team, that is our 'MO' nothing else, if players think we are a stepping stone club that is there own perception, the club is never sold like that and we don't buy players for that intention. he next Mane or VVD will sign for us because it's a good deal for them, they nor the club have no idea whether in 2-3 years they will be good enough to move to a bigger club. Where else are they going to go? Stoke, West Ham, Crystal Palace, far less stable clubs than us. We have positioned ourselves as the 'best of the rest' outside the big 5-6 clubs and that is why, coupled with the draw of the premier league and the higher wages that allows us to offer, players want to come here.
  13. They have £200 million in the bank so can afford it. Plus Countinho is not the most robust player, seems to pick up a fair few injuries.
  14. Changes nothing except he's waved his loyalty fee. We won't to the Scousers and won't sell to anyone else unless they meet our exceptional valuation.
  15. Everton aren't top 6 anyway, but yeh he's not a starter for City, Utd, etc. He wasn't a starter for Everton really, and apparently he decided not to sign the contract because they have brought in Rooney and Klassen, who both potentially play in that similar position so he could even be further down the pecking order. There is definitely talent there but he doesn't seem to have improved much since we was 18/19 and seems very inconsistent, but who knows, maybe consistent games and a manager who believes in him would get the best of him, but yeh can see him ending up West ham or the like and not doing much.
  16. That is not the worst of it, look what else he said - LMAO. Hilarious, Liverpool are going to concede so many this year, with the extra pressures of Champions League (presuming they beat Hoffenheim) they'll have to rotate more and will get more injuries and they only scraped 4th last year without any european football. And they will be doing all this whilst not improving the main areas they were weak last year, centre-back, left back and goalkeeper. Plus Coutinho might go to Barcelona and IIRC Lallana is out for the first few months of the season. Potential melt down me thinks for their fans. Title challenge? I reckon it's more likely they will struggle for top 6.
  17. Can't see VVD to Everton, that is a massive step down from Liverpool and especially Chelsea. Plus IIRC Ross Barkley turned down £100k a week (some reports also say £120k a week) from Everton we aren't going to pay that, maybe £80-90k a week at a stretch, plus the asking price is £35 million, which to be honest is absurd for a guy that was not a bang on starter for a mid table club last year and has a year on his contract left. Koeman has said he basically has no future but they have no bids, papers are speculating that Spurs are waiting them out to buy him at a lower price. The only way I could every see possibility of him coming here is if this bit is true - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/07/26/ross-barkleys-everton-career-says-ronald-koeman-100-wants/ So if that is actually true and he does want a new challenge and wants to be played in his prefered position then maybe that is something we could offer him, but I still reckon he;s just after more money. Spurs will probably buy him on deadline day for £20 million and he'll sit on the bench behind Erikkson and Ali. Personally don't rate him but he would fit into our team as a No.10 - Forster Cedric (hopefully VVD) Yoshida/Stephens Bertrand Romeu Lemina Redmond/Tadic Barkley/JWP Boufal Gabbiadini
  18. Jake Livermore is not quick, or strong, or good in the air nor can he dribble. This guy sounds like a Morgan to me, probably trading some technique for more physicality, like a box to box wanyama
  19. Well his manager said he's leaving, so he's going to someone. I'd guess if other parties are involved we don't want to jeopardise it before it's completely done.
  20. Very good post, whilst I'm sure most people on here won't like Spurs, they should recognise that they are basically being run in a similar way to us and in reality have just been a bit luckier with their youth (a player like Kane is once in a generation) and finding Ali, plus have greater resources than us to add to this and keep their players. They also have our old manager who IIRC was brought to us because of his ability to bring through young players, which Spurs are tapping into. But no real signings from Spurs this summer and it looks like they have concentrated on retaining their best players much like us. No one seems to be criticising Spurs.
  21. Harry likes a deal so it makes sense, plus there are clubs there that he'll obviously have a bias over like West Ham and Bournemouth, he probably thinks West Ham's scatter gun approach to signings will pay off. I'm doubtful, there is more to a football team than just buying loads of players, even Football Manager knows that.
  22. Clyne and Wanyama were in the last years of their deal so the fees were about right, Mane was a little undervalued, I think we could have got more for him, but then I'd reckon Chambers, Morgan, Lovren and Shaw we got more for them than they were worthat the time as they have subsequently shown. If you take into account the market inflation, Utd already made a loss on Morgan, not sure they'd get £30 million for Shaw, Arsenal are about the sell Chambers for £4 million more then they bought him (and hopefully we have a sell on clause there) which is not much considering the prices this summer and I don;t think anyone is paying £20 million for Lovren either.
  23. Lazio sound like us, everyone trying to poach their players, isn't that both their centre-backs now linked with moves and we were linked with their striker who apparently wants to go to Juve.
  24. 29 in all competitions, though granted half as sub.
  25. Looks like a faster Schneiderlin to me, not bad though signing a player from Juve, even if he isn't a first teamer he still played like 29 times for them in all competitions last season. Two times double winner I think.
