  1. Isn't that what twitter is for? questions, asnwers, statment and some debate. It's Nixon's opinion that some of our targets are out of our reach, just his opinion nothing else, which is derogatory to the club IMO, MLG has as much right to question and contradict that statement with his opinion. As a journalist putting out such statements he should expect some comment and countering.
  2. Fair enough don't think Di Matteo really qualifies either though. Laudrup has done very well at Swansea in fact Swansea have done very well full stop. I thought they would stuggle after losing Rodgers, but they have kicked on and Laudrup is a big factor in that so you definitely have a point. Thing is not sure who we could appoint in that mould, Rafa will be free at the end of the season. We still got in Gaston though, I doubt he knew who Adkins is, doubt he even know's what he's going on about half the time but maybe just meeting Adkins will work for some players as he 'sells the project' very well and fits in with our ethos, which along with his positivity might make some players want to work for him. Anyway I don;t think with all the llinked targets and the money we are potentially spending that Adkins is going to be sacked any time soon, but if we spend in January and don't stay up then he'll be gone I reckon. 6 months at Chelsea doesn't make a manager, he has potential as a manager but his record at WBA who were in a similar position to us worries me. Gross is available I suppose, manager with European experience that's available and a bit of Swiss link with Cortese, similar to when Rafa was linked I reckon, manager with good european experience and was available. Essentially the media reckon if we are replacing Adkins then it will be with someone high profile (ish) from the continent rather than a young British manager.
  3. You can agree a transfer before the window opens, you just can't physically transfer the player's registration outside the window.
  4. Anything from it would be a bonus, most clubs won't get a result away at the Bridge and after the QPR slip up I doubt Chelsea will rest over half their first team again.
  5. Gross isn't a high profile manager though, he's pretty much failed outside of Switzerland and his record with Spurs makes him unsuitable for any English club IMO, doubt he will attract any more decent players than Adkins. Di Matteo I suppose has a higher profile but I wonder how long that will last, he's hardly been snapped up by other clubs.

One of my mate's who is a celtic fan specifically said 'mental'. That's nice don't really see the relevance to your crazy thoery, nothing you have said even remotely indicates that Boruc was forced out. He decided to leave in March, he was offered a new contract before that yet a Goalkeeper signed 5 months later was clearly going to replace him.
  7. Gross? eugh.

I think you are loosing it, again thise makes no sense. Fiorentina loose their best Keeper thus get a new keeper in on loan. Saints have two keepers who prove they aren't up to it and thus get another goalkeeper in. Both clubs needed a new keeper.
  9. Liverpool have a Carling cup, so have Birmingham in recent years and got relegated the same season. Bradford are in the league cup this year, commonly reffered to as the 'Mickey Mouse Cup'. One clubs spends £100 million and struggles to finish behind two clubs that have made a profit on transfers proves my point. Pretty sure Arsenal are one our two remaining representatives in the Champions league this year and have qualified the last three years. Liverpool haven't, big spending Chelsea and City are also both out of the Champions league this year as well. Did you also have a stroke half way through writing that - "where Saints are halfway through a season but you can use to try and give your argument some weight, fair this" makes no sense. Like I said I think you used to be a west ham fan, this guy seems to have about the same 'knowledge' as you -

Don't know many Celtic fans but the ones I have spoken said he was class but was also mental. They were sad to see him go though. And to answer your first question, because Gazza is crap.
  11. Would go for that. International keeper for that price is good, not hit if off for Roma but would be good for us.
  12. Probably just some scouts have been looking at him and the media have extrapolated it from there in line with other rumours and us singing Ramirez from Bologna.
  13. Same formation as against Arsenal. Clyne comes back in for Davis and Cork goes back in the middle. Jos replaces Fonte at the back and be in charge of Benteke. 4-4-1-1 We press and put them under pressure like we did against Arsenal, when Villa played Liverpool, Liverpool stood off too much and allowed Villa space to play.

LOL. Boruc left of his own accord and then Fiorentina got a replacement. If Fiorentina were already getting a supposedly better keeper why did they offer Boruc an improved contract? Why did they not try to sign Viviano permanently if he is so good? Why did they not try to buy him in 2011, when he instead went to Palermo? Maybe it was because they already had a very good keeper and didn't need another one until he left. It's hilarious that you think a player who decided to move in March thought he going to be replaced by a player that wasn't even signed until July. There are the facts and then there are some made up things in your head. You need to learn the difference. I think you used to be a West Ham fan -

Gazza is a technically inept goalkeeper, he has serious flaws that will take a while to correct. Whilst I agree Boruc isn't 100% fit, I wouldn't call him 'fat', he's alsways been big and I would prefer that over the ganguly presence of someone like say De Gea who looks like he might get blown over by a strong wind or one of Fergies rants. I will also re-iterate that our own manager said he has been working hard in training and has thus earned his chance on that basis. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2013/01/02/3643468/adkins-i-was-right-to-play-boruc-in-arsenal-draw
  17. Seriously it's not hard is it. 1. Manager Identifies target area, lets say centre-back. 2. Scouts go out to find centre-back or higlight ones they have already found. 3. List of players is assessed by transfer commitee. 4. A shortlist of 'targets' is drawn up. 5. The criteria for this will involve - A. the perceived ability of the player, B. the availability of the player, C the potential interest of the player joining Southampton FC, D the 'value' that the committee decide the player will be worth which will give a guide in negotiations. 6. An appropriate bid will be then made to the players's club. 7. NC will then handle further negotiates, along with discussions with the agent. Currently, the italian clubs (Serie A) will come up high in the criteria for 5, because their financial status means that you will get higher A, with more B and higher C due to wages. Essentially we are raiding financially sticken clubs for their best players. If the club's weren't in financial trouble then the player would either cost more or not be for sale and the player might not be interested in joining us. But the money troubles mean we can potentially sign a player that in usuall cricumstances would be above us and means we can move away from players like Scott Dann.
  18. Or maybe it has to do with the general state of finances if Italian football that make decent players available and potentially allows us as a small club to sign players traditonally out of reach. I've heard stories of financial troubles at Inter, AC Milan, Cagliari, Bologna. This article - http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2012/04/whats-the-trouble-with-serie-a/ would incidicate that it's many more. Those clubs listed though involve our transfer targets, so to me it is just taking advantage of opportunities. http://www.givemefootball.com/european-news/serie-a-on-the-slide-

So Boruc left because he knew he was going to loose his place to a player that Fiorentina hadn't even signed yet and didn't sign for another month after Boruc had already said he was going to leave and after Fiorentina had offered him a new contract. He must be able to see the future. A player that Fiorentina must have been so sure was better than Boruc (a fan favourite and had 14 clean sheets last year) that they only signed him on loan? obviously waiting until Boruc had gone, A player who last year had a serious cruciate injury that ruled him out for half of the season? You don't think, that maybe just maybe, Fiorentina's first choice keeper decides to leave on a free transfer and Fiorentina then a bit short of keepers decided to go get a new keeper and a loan signing would solve the problem pretty quickly. Of course we could go with your 'mystic artur' theory.
  20. Pretty sure all Chairmen do this, manager identifies problem areas and targets, Chairmen does the actual deals. Of course you could always make a...... out of a ...............
  21. double post again
  22. They still have Robinho, trying to sell him back to Brazil but the deal broke down.
  23. Currently they are 8th in the league, last year they finished 8th, year before they finished 6th. Over the same period they have a net spend of nearly £100 million. Everton, who finished above them last year and the year before have a net spend over the same period of MINUS £18 million. Arsenal, who have finished 3rd, 4th, and 3rd over the same period have a net spend of MINUS £10 million. Like I said, depends how you spend it not how much you spend.

    Artur Boruc

Sigh. Fiorentina wanted to keep him. He declared he wanted to move to the Premier League so didn't extend his contract, despite ing offered one. Your lack of knowledge pretty much negates the rest of your posts. And was bailed out by his defence, QPR came for a cross that he never could have got and let one of the smallest players on the pitch score a header which went straight down the middle. Fumbled a weak 25 yarder that was straight at him, some terrible keeping technique with weak hands, luckily QPR were terrible that day. Norwich let a poor freekick squirm underneath him by not getting his body behind the ball, 2pts lost. Swansea badly passed the ball straight to Dyer, 2pts lost. Newcastle miscontrolled a backpass and allowed Ba to close him down, was lucky the ball bounced kindly for him otherwise we would have been 1-0 early in the game. Gazza is a poor keeper, he can occasionally fling himself about but then League 2 keepers can look at Duke for Bradford but his overall technique is poor. Boruc is rusty and not match fit. Gazza and Davis are just sh*t. I concede Boruc might not ever re-discover his form, that happens, but at least he's been top class and played at the highest levels of the game for years, so at least deserves a run. Davis hasn't and will never be good enough and neither will Gazza, a few years he will be back down in league 2 IMO.
