Demba Ba is a poor example, release clause so Newcastle had no choice, clearly would leave for Chelsea who throw money in wages at players. What the likes of Chelsea, Man City and PSG do for transfers doesn't apply to most clubs. Also kind of odd as we are announcing Forren today. 13 days to get a wide player, and considering the links to Coutinho and Zarate and the like we are underway.

Hopefully games for us will go our way:- West Ham v QPR Man City v Fulham West Brom v Villa Liverpool v Norwich Hopefully all home wins. Newcastle v Reading Wigan v Sunderland Both draws please.

Teddy Sheringham? To be fair he was 27, but only made 5 caps before he was 30 and didn't really break through until Euro 96. He went on to earn 45 England caps between the ages of 30 and 36. Went to the 2002 World Cup at the age of 35.

Chelsea 2 Saints 2 - Post Match Celebrations & MotM

QPR parked the bus, we had a little more ambition than that and looked to retain the ball as much as possible and hit on the counter without overcomitting. You only have to look at some of the comments by the Chelsea fans, a lot more complimentary than they were about QPR. QPR did the same against Spurs at home as well. Just parked the bus. -

great result, only seen the goals but some quality ones for us and were we maybe a tad unlucky for theirs? Especially the first double deflection. -
Hence the price I suppose but the sort of defensive midfielder we need I reckon tall and strong.

http://metro.co.uk/2013/01/15/aston-villa-target-moussa-sissoko-to-fill-stiliyan-petrov-gap-3353320/ Think he would be a good signing for us and at £3 million as well.

I remember my Brum supporting mate raving about him at the time and how they were going to sign for them but they went down. I don't remember seeing him much but do remember him being pretty quick. He cost quite a sum of money when Lazio eventually signed him. Played for Inter last year in the champions league so can't be too bad. From the youtube vids he looks like he's quick, is quite direct, like to cut in from the left and take shots. Maybe a different option after the Coutinho deal going nowhere.

Remy has only made 2 starts for Marseille this season and has had quie a few injury problems in 2012, so he might not add much to them either. Centre back and full backs are where they really need strengthening

Most Portmsouth fans bang on about their history and FA cups and such. it's usually the line used by fans of clubs who aren't quite what they were. Liverpool being very much a 'comfortably mid table' club in recent years whereas their fans think they should be competing for titles and signing top european players.
-
At least he's been linked with several clubs so he must be fairly well rated. It's better than this sort of signing - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21021336

Seems we are outbidding clubs in transfer fees for players and QPR are outbidding clubs in wages for players. Not sure which route is best.
-
I wonder if this will see Fox leave to Forrest - We get a new centre back option who can also cover for Shaw, thus making Fox not needed and the bid was turned down because we haven't signed Forren yet.

Footballer wanting to play football not sit on the bench shock! unless we have done a QPR and thrown more money at him I suppose if we are showing we want him more than Liverpool by offering rather than just a trial.
-
I'm not sure we want the norweigan David Luiz, however the amount of clubs linked suggests he has some talent and at 24 he'll still be improving. Still think it's odd he's on trial at Liverpool, unusual for contracted players to go train with another club.
-
It's absurd but then the point they make about Newcastle being better off is probably true. Just another highly paid mercanery for the QPR sinking ship. Doubt he's going to be up for much of a dog fight. I also see he's not played much in the league for them or scored.
-
Sort of, I think he went to ground instinctively to ensure what he thought was going to be a foul and at the same time reduce the risk of getting hurt but misjudged where the defender's leg was.
-
I'm not sure he conciously decided either, I think he did it instinctively because he wasn't going to get the ball, I think he sees the potential challenge coming and goes down expecting some contact, however he msijudges it and ends up going over with no contact. If he had got it right he would have fallen over the leg and there would have been some debate about him going down too easily rather than diving. I'm going round in circles a bit here but in summary - I don't think he cheated or set out to con the ref, I think he thought he was going to be fouled in the box and wanted to ensure he got the penalty but misjudged it slightly.
-
For me he's got to do better when he gets to the byeline though, at least twice he used his pace well and broke in behind, got to the byleine but his cutback/pass was weak and he seems off balance. He did the same against Arsenal. His touch/composure in the box needs to improve and he'll be a very good striker, we've seen he can finish when he's in the right body position, he's got pace and decent presence/strength but time and time again he struggles to sort his feet out when a telling pass or shot is needed. He's a bit headless chicken at the moment, the air of someone who's a bit too big for their body and they are struggling to control their limbs.
-
Because he's a footballer and in theory will have been tackled thousands of times, thus would know a dangled leg wasn't going to injure him. Also top level athletes makes decisions in miliseconds based on tiny movements, he knew the tackle was coming and at some level decided he would go down regardless of any contact. He dived.
-
Agree, can't see how it's not a dive. I can see the argument that he's not cheat (and he has no previous for this sort of behiavour either) but for a split second their at some level he's gone to ground on purpose. Although I don't play football at the highest level, I have been playing for close to 20 years and never in my experience have I been in situation where something like that would happen to me. I've had situations like Gareth Bale had against Sunderland where your running at full pelt concentrating on the ball and you get a slight knock, you loose balance and go down in stages, which whilst it looks bad, isn't a dive but some fans will reckon it is because they all think unless it's a booming two footed challenge anyone going down is going down too easily (usualy the kind of fans who have never run full plet at anything and are unlikely to have ever played the game at any competitive level). But never have a I sprinted for a ball, controlled it and then folded sideways onto the ground to 'avoid' a challenge, you either hurdle it or you get tripped.
-
Yeh I think this, hadn't they agreed a 14.5 million Euro sale to a Russian club in the summer? I think they think they can get this is they get a few lcubs involved.
-
Doubt he's much of an improvement on Davis IMO, and he's just not very defensively minded. He's a worse version of Carrick and is more in the playmaker mould than the defensive midfielder we need. He would also probably cost a lot and have high wages for a position that's not a priority.
-
Thing is though wtf is doing if he isn't diving? The challenge wasn't in the slightest bit dangerous to him and if he'd just continued his run he'd either have got a stonewall pen or he might have got a shot at goal. Instead he just looked a bit of an idiot, I give hime some credit for not rolling aorund or claiming anything so I don't think he set out to cheat, but he difficult to call it anything but a dive. A huge slice of luck for us.
