Gallas would be good, Huddlestone isn't anything better than we have, in fact he's far less mobile than either Morgan or Cork. If we are going to add in that area we need someone with pace, power and aerial ability IMO. On a side note I saw Bernard the other day on SSN, think he's a spokeperson for 'Show Racism the Red Card'.

Good post. We're still battling away and playing a bit of catch up from our start but we're competing. We seem to to have started getting a few results when not playing at our best and I think that most of all gives me hope. At the start of the season we were playing well but gifting the opposition points, now we are grinding them out. I'm interested to see how we do in the up coming games against Chelsea, Utd and Man City, compared to the start of the season. Chelsea might be too much with the injuries and the closeness to the Villa game but I'm hoping we will look a lot more solid against these sort of teams than we did based on our recent form and I think we have bonus win in us against one of the top 6. Puts into perspective the drivel that posted on the forum around October time. Most balanced posters were saying (like Adkins was) that the team was learning and improving through a tough start. The progress is plain to see.

Hmmmn, sounds a bit of a Imants Bleidelis to me.

I've looked at this several times and I'm still not sure, his reaction was odd as he claimed nothing but then I can't really see why he went down. I also agree a bit with Lambert, the challenge was awful and was stupid to do in the box. If you challenge like that you are asking for trouble. Thought the ref gave it for the challenge by the keeper on Puncheon though? Also it's swings and roundabouts for me, Lowton should have been sent off for his challenge on Ramirez but the ref didn't see it. We get a bit off the luck and they got a bit of luck. Still think we deserved the win as Villa didn't play until the last 15 minutes. If the same had happened to us I'd be annoyed but at the same time I'd be annoyed as to why we played so crap at home against another relegation team.

West Ham were woeful on Satruday against Sunderland, a team that isn't that great themselves. Probably a one off but their recent form hasn't been great and they have struggled to score goals. They most likely won't go down, they have QPR at home next and I can see them winning that fairly easily. However, they also have a tough March and April, so the assumptions they will be comfortably mid table by the media I think is a bit optimistic. I think they will finish 14th/15th. More importantly though they will play a big role in the relegation battle, they play us & villa away and still have home games against QPR, Wigan, Newcastle and Reading. To say that they are as unlikely as Man Utd to go down though is a plainly stupid comment. Just man up and admit it.

Has Adkins got anything right since the end of last season

lol, well at least you'll probably be right about the City and United games. I think we can pick up 6 more points from Everton at home and Wigan away. Wigan have just lost Ramis to injury and Kone will be still at the ACON so they will be short of numbers. Hopefully we will have some new players as well by Everton. Think we can get soemthing away to Newcastle, especially if they loose Colocinni. When I saw this thread I thought it was one dug up from October, not the 27th December. Hilarious -
Caught his catches, came for crosses, distrubution was good, commanded the area etc. All regulation which I would give him a 7/10 for, a good standard performance. However add in the two saves, which were top class he gets an 8 and MOTM for me.
-
Great performance, only one game but with a run in the team he could be the difference for us staying up.
-
play well and we can beat Everton at home, also think we will need to at least get a point at Wigan. Anything else from Chelsea, City or Utd is a complete bonus.
-
Bit of luck there, better team in the second half but a lot worse in the second. The result though is massive, reinforcements needed as it looks like Gaston and Shaw have picked up knocks. Another 3 players needed I reckon.
-
Very negative, but look a lot more solid defensively but then with 10 men behind the ball that's not too hard. Will be interesting to them against Norwich and what their approach will be.
-
Weird. Basically he's reckons Villa are so sh*t that they will become good by default. What the hell does this mean - So they are now not scred of losing? They are so poor the pressure is now off?

Funny reading that, quite up themselves based on the Champions league, the stuff about the SPL being 'underated' is funny especially with the loss of Rangers. I particularly like the quote about him (hooper) putting in a good showing against Juventus will be better for him than playing Premier Legaue football every week. One game against quality opposition and the rest of the time against championship level at best teams or pplaying lots of games against the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, etc. Hmmmn?

If Lambert is on his game he will dominate them, I fancy a goal from Jos as well as we are fairly good at set pieces and they are awful at defending them. I have a feeling that their weakness from balls out wide might be why Jay Rod might also get a look in. I have said this in other threads though everything is pointing to a Saints win for me but that in itself is worrying. Good to see Nige has acknowledged the 'wounded animal' thing so that should rule out any complacency from our players.

Colocinni leaving Newcastle - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20985928 Trouble for them and they might start looking for centre backs. They have just 2 wins from 17 game in all competitions since October.

I think what has happened is Puncheon has micheivously swapper Boruc's slimfast for Whisky (picture 1), Dean Wilkins has clearly caught him (picture 2) but alas it's too late (picture 3)

"Boss, Heinz have nicked your 'invisible ketchup bottle' bit for their ads"

Gerrard has a very high opinion of himself anyway probably just a clash of personalities and maybe a bit of an excuse for Gerrard. And as you say Reed is not in a coaching role.

Picture 9, "Can I have the ball Rickie" Picture 10, "Nah Boss, you'd only drop it"
-
Which picture?, quite a few odd ones in there and a lot of Jay Rod. Also 3/24, Boruc doesn't look that fat in that picture to me. Overall all though they look a happy bunch.

Only held some of the highest coaching positions in this Country. - FA development officer, - FA Regional Director of Coaching, - Director of Technical Development at the FA - England Coach at 3 world cups. - FA's Technical Director. His CV seems pretty suitable for the role he has at Saints - Head of Football Development and Support
-
He's side stepping, essentially a moving 'star jump' or 'jumping jack' as the yanks call it. Well that looks like what most of the other players are doing. There so no real twisting inolved in that but it will put pressure on the sides of the knee joint so it's positive. He's also got studs on which I doubt they would do unless his knee strength was good because they could catch and twist. Promising signs, certainly doesn't look like he's out or the season.
-
His involvement in the conference might hint that.
-
No win needed for me, to stay up we are going to need to beat some of the teams around us away so I think wins at Villa and Reading at the least.

(Suggestion) Gazza to get loan experience (CCC/SPL)
