Thankyou Dubai Phil and Co It is the media I am getting at , repeat after repeat etc. I want to hear more form tehe japanese folk themselves how they are responding to this disaster. Not the media and so called experts that the main news channels have access to 24/7. I have a japanese news site on sky . its interesting as you have an english speaking japanese translator on behalf of the japanase speaking government giving information. which is what I want to here but even this footage has a western media commentator over riding her voice so that you cannot actually hear her. Asfor save the Children campaign , yes I am aware of this mandate but given the scale of what has happened in my thoughts are that all charities providing help should unite and provide a cohesive strategy programme for all as an assistance to the Japanese government. Not a piecemeal process

AsAs Tokyo saint says some of the nicest folk in the world. IO jut wish the media and mainly the british media would stop trying to create the news. Their glammed up news readers/ reporter trying to spin the disaster to even worse proportions than it already is. It gets my goat when I see these reporters given their reports in the glare of loads of lights being on in the back ground while reporting Japan is in total darkness. Can some one advise do the media have an exclusive priority to posh hotels . airports so they can come and go as they please irrepective of the carnage around them. Save the children are running a fund to provide for the children of japan but what about all the other folk in japan that have suffered do they not matter ? Oh and dont get me started on the army of supposed experts who are able to comment on every aspect of the disaster wiht out ever visiting these countries. have they already forgotten about the NZ disaster? As for the comment is it only britain that provides resuers. no it isnt but again the british media would have you think so. China and japan are some of the biggest providers of help n these diasters around the world. the numbers they send far out way the small token the UK provide. Bloody BBC/ITV and Sky News

saintinsouthsea The point i am trying to make and not conveying very well is that the reporters on the BBC and Sky were putting their own spin on what was happening as this story was unfolding They were making stupid comments about people not having electricity etc at the same time as aftershocks were occurring. I may have been wrong with my left wing comment and apologise it wasnt meant to be political. But the bbc are pretty left wing and many reporters appear to come across as fluffy social workers in my opinion. Thats the way reprter work apparently. Some I suspect were educated in the college of drop the dead donkey. They seem to have so many supposed experts on hand to comment on this massive earth quake yet do not mention any thing re Hawai and other areas who are also affected by the quake , after shocks in the pacific rim area. So please delete my comments about left wing. It was early whenI made that reference. I stand by the other comments the reporters made though

saint in south sea Im not a loon, but I do have gripe about our reporters pooring more misery on a terrible situation that was unfolding on tv this morning at 7 am our time. I have not seen any further footage since 830. but will look in again at mid day. I just hope that not many lives have been lost . as I said earlier the Japanese are well equipped for dealing with these events. My thought are with those who have lost their lives and are suffering from the carnage that has occured so far

watched some of the footage, amazing films big boats/buses being swept away like a twig gives you a true feeling of the power of the wave. Sky news/BBC take a negative stance as usual. How the japanese do not have power etc as the Japanese have shut down power stations /nuclear plants etc. Thejapanese government and the people no this is part of the safety strategy to prevent more catastrophe occuring so why do our left wing touchy feeling reporters always spin this to make out the people suffering are even more pitiful The japanes folk are very resilient and prepare for every eventuality. Still a tragic event for them to endure

The real Tragedy is the Like of Dean Richards et al. And this borken leg thing needs to be put into context. A broken leg is just that, at least he still has a leg and his life. look at all those servicemen who have lost varying amount of limbs during their service in afghan and iraq and other conflicts. Now that is a tragedy. I would rather have a broken leg that lose my arms and legs like serviceman and worse still my life to the brain disease that sadly took Deans life as well as our great saviour
-
No other fans would give a toss if any of our players broke their legs or were out for several months so why should we. lok at our long term injuries and who can recall danny rodrigues break a few years ago his foot was at right angles Yes I wish their player well but I am not a huddersfield fan so it does not concern me similar I could give a toss about the arsenal player that broke his leg was it fabregus

I do not think it was an NC but I have an inkling it was alpine making a rare appearence at SMS He features in the new wheres wally at football grounds book
-
I see Matt Dawson was there as well. near the top on the left. maybe they were doing a question of sport after the match. Talking of Saints and TV. I watched a special edition of Time team last week . looking at archaeology etc through the ages. SMS was used to demonstrate the passing of time from ice age through neaolithic -roman etc. Its was done before start of last season as the seats still promoted Flybe. So we have featured on academic programmes now. how many clubs can claim that status. ok the blue few they are a bunch of relics with world war two collatral damage ruins

Now the government has announced thatTobacco products will have to be kept under the counter in larger stores from April 2012 and in all shops by April 2015. This was a lobour government policy by the way. I suspect that alcohol will be removed from shop shelves in the next few years in a locked concealed room . you will only be able to buy it through a we hatch much like the metadone users in chemists.

Watched the video . they are preaching and spouting so much vile hatred I thought it Ironis that one of his supporters is wearing a british army Combat 95 smock! how ironic is that if he wants to see british soldiers die in hell The guy Im referring to is stood in front and to the left of the guy with the mega phone. I would have pointed out to them that he was a british soldier and see if they set fire to him

Choudhury is part of a small group of nasty individuals. he seems to have forgotten that many of his kinfolk also laid down their lives as did sikhs , Hindus etc in various conflicts for Graet Britain. Its scum tlike him who give all the other law abiding ethnic communnities a bad name. sadly the decision by the courts have now given him celebrity status. Jeremy Vine and co you have a lot to answer for. he should have been made an example off and even his side kick was found not guilty of the same offence. Knowing my luck I will get done for doing 32 miles an hour in a 30 miles zone in the next few days .

Kalid Mahmood is dead right on this and I entirely respect his views on this case . The legal system here is such a mess. As for Mr Choudhury. While I can see where you are coming from Benji but I have to disagree. He was inciting hatred full stop burning poppies and calling for our soldiers to be burnt in hell. and you intimate he has done nothing wrong. There were other instances of war memorials be daubed with paint by some more extreme muslims supporting Bin Laden were cleared of any offence once they were charged What sentence did the guy get for painting a poppy on the Jumii mosque in skatesville
-
I am incensed that Mr Choudhury only got fined £50 for burning replica poppies during the 2 minutes of silence on Armistice day last year. You get fined more for a car park fine It must have cost the police and courts an absolute fortune to hear the case yet they only fine him £50 it was a dispicable act and he was also shouting obscenties like British soldiers burn in hell And now he is apparently stating he does not regret his actions and is considering doing it again this year. So mush for the deterrent. The guy who ****ed on a war memorial got a massive fine yet this anti brit protestor all but gets away with a similar offence. The law is an ass . The moment we harp on about anti islamic feeling we are jumped upon

Saintandy The turks may have done that but they were a lot closer and used ferry's to get them off libya The indias I think have 11k indian nationals in libya. have they got the ability to rehouse them back in india?

Damned if he does something damned if he doesnt. Nothing is ever straight forward in getting people repatriated from a situation like that. I remember back in the eighties evacuating brits back from lebanon. its was an absolute logistical night mare. its one thing evacuating them but it is the process the other end that is paramount. Do we have somewhere to but refugees, then there health care oh and not to forget counsellors. Im sure the russians just went in took them out and dumped them somewhere. Remember the UK is the really touchy feeely fluffy nation and we need to have everything in place. What is not being announced on the news that there are thousands of brits staying put.

I am not following this thread to the eigth degree. but if we are trying to unpick every morsel of what may have gone on re fb and Nc for me Im not interested. the club is stable we are on the up but some of you just seem hell bent on destroying this club. I witnessed it via sias during the lowe and askam days. be careful for what you wish for , you might get your wish a club in administration or a club into oblivion As monty pyhon would say what are you going to do next (ok its what are we going to do next.) Gm welcome back but you should have just kept quiet instead of opening up old wounds

Just been reading an article about Pollywogs and shellbacks re the equator crossing interesting stuff I guess Pollywogs was a version of gollywogs . Is it a word that is now banned. It seems I was a pollywog in the past but now Im a shellback as I still have my certificate from when I was a young child King Neptune, son of Saturn and Obs, is the Roman God of water and the seas. This ritual started in the 18th century, with seafarers paying homage to the King for a safe passage. Often they would give sacrifices at the line such as horses, alcohol and other treasured items. The ceremony was used to ensure that new sea goers were able to withstand prolonged and rough times at sea. All those who are crossing the equator for the first time at sea must pay homage to King Neptune- officers, crew and scientists alike! Shellbacks are those sailors who have already crossed the equator and Pollywogs are the new seafarers. One the line has been crossed, the Pollywogs are tried before King Neptune in court for crimes committed whilst travelling in his realm. King Neptune and his dignitaries are represented by the highest ranking seamen. There is then interrogation, consisting of a variety of embarrassing ordeals such as head shaving, walking through rotten food, silly challenges, wearing clothing back to front, dressing in drag… all for the entertainment of the Shellbacks. After completion of the ceremony, Pollywogs receive a certificate of their new status. But this ceremony has not always been about some silly fun. In fact it was a brutal event during the 19th century and earlier. Pollywogs were beaten with rope and hoses, dragged in the wake behind the ship, and sometimes thrown overboard! This was still the case during World War II, when Pollywogs received ‘Devils Tongue’ treatment; electrified pieces of metal were poked into their sides. The medical logs after crossing the line ceremonies indicated many injuries. It was not until the 1980’s that a curtailment on Crossing the Line ceremonies was imposed by many national authorities.

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
Viking Warrior replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
One things for sure is that NI has more support than puncheon. forte, Guly et al Maybe some fans always support the poor victim than their own players
