I am pleased to report his hair is still as awesome as ever. His assistant for Qatar was an Arabic fella wearing a full head scarf and traditional outfit, meanwhile Bruno was just rocking a suit, casually unbuttoned shirt, and that epic barnet just flowing over the shoulders.

I saw Bruno Metsu doing his managerial thang last night when flicking through the sports channels. Got me to dreaming again. He would totally pwn as manager compared to King Kev.

Listening to Sean Lennon - Into the Sun, Sonic Youth "The Majestic" and L'il Wayne Drought mixtapes.

Simon - I am a writer myself albeit not a football writer - but that is an area I would love to get involved in. If you do get this up and running and would like contributions then fire me a PM dude.

Listening to a really annoying bird sat in a tree just outside my office window. Sounds like a nightmare hybrid of bird and cicada, ****ing constant, cheep cheep cheep - arrrggghhh been at it all morning with no let up. Can't actually see where it is either, so can't try and scare it away.

Watched 12 Rounds the other night. Switched my brain off and watched John Cena gurn his way through what was effectively a remake of Die Hard With A Vengeance. Aiden Gillen played what I resumed was an Ulster terrorist, and incredibly the Irish born actor, who talks with a pronounced Irish accent, had one of the worst N.Iriland lilts I have ever heard. That said I enjoyed it, it was big dumb fun, nice to see Tavon off of the Shield as his partner. Also watched Paul Blart - Mall Cop. Was an inoffensive family comedy really. Could have done with some more zing, but I couldn't bring myself to completely dislike it. Finally, last night I watched the special edition DVD of Arnie's Commando, for the first time. Having had to put up with a VHS copy as I never had the u**** version on DVD, I was in heaven. "Let of some steam, Bennett"

Sun claims a Thai cop told them Carradine had a cord tied around his neck and his genitals and that it was some sort of auto-erotic asphyxiation job. I can never understand why people bother doing stuff like that, but I suppose a man who has lived a life of high octane martial arts and movie thrills, and probably done rudies with more women in more exotic situations than I could probably ever dream of needs that little something extra, hence tying up his knackers with a curtain cord, in a wardrobe. RIP, my best wishes to his family at this difficult time.

Dineage once tried to push in front of me in the queue at Homebase in Hedge End. It was busy and I was carrying a very heavy tin of white primer, some bedding plants and a load of other bits. I turned around to look at something and the next thing I knew the shiny headed caaarnt had tried to manouvre his way in front of me. I gave him a soupcon of colourful abuse and he ended up having to go to the back of the queue. He didn't say it but his look basically screamed "do you know who I am?".

I know it was supposedly a shoulder injury, but the Haye/Klitschko fight being canned is bound to have a knock on effect. Plus part of me cannot help but think that the fight being cancelled may have something to do with money - not sure how much of the fight purse would be related to Setanta - perhaps the promoters saw what was going on and decided to pull the plug lest their boxers end up not being paid. I have cancelled my direct debit to Setanta having heard that - not sure when they will cutr me off - and will be ringing them to cancel. Unfortunately this will mean I will have to go to the pub and watch the England games, on a giant screen, with my mates and several pints of premium ale. >_ I do hope that this does not have an ITV Digital style effect on the Scottish clubs - there are enough financial problems north of the border as it is.

Regarding the current squad and academy lists - can anyone give me a bit of a breakdown as to the quality/attributes of the twenty or so lads in the first and second year of the academy? Have not been paying much attention and am very interested to hear what some of you guys think about our future.

What we really need is enought financial clout to tempt a world class coach to St Marys - I am talking someone in the Phillipe Troussier mould - we would **** League One then, no danger.

Interpol are awesome. I love "Not Even Jail" off "Antics" - turn it up really loud and the intro is freaking sweet. The whole of the first album is first class as well. Apparently the lead singer is about to "drop" his debut solo record, you heard it here first indie kids.

Santa Cruz in Tenerife is a favourite spot of mine. Some good nightlife, great restaurants and nice hotels. The Hotel Taburiente comes highly recommended, and is a short walk from all the cool bars and whatnot. Tenerife is ace. You can spend your daytime in the South, in the sunshine and then bus it back to the north in the evening where it is invariably cooler and where you aren't faced with tens of thousands of Brits.

Watched Last Exit To Brooklyn last night. Was so depressed afterwards I needed to watch something life affirming so I turned to Governor Schwarzenegger and Predator which I had miraculously Sky plussed whilst ****ed the other night. Massive, steroid filled men in the jungle - ahh yesss. Bill Duke has the best line - other than his rendition of "Long Tall Sally" you have the classic: "You're ghosting us, motherf***er! I don't care who you are back in the world, you give away our position one more time, I'll bleed ya, real quiet. Leave ya here. Got that?"

Ooops, forgot about Its A Wonderful Life!!! I have got that one as well, it just a'int on my music player thingamajig. Amazingly I picked it up in Crime Converters in Bitterne about six weeks ago, along with the second Willy Mason album. It is amazing what stolen CDs end up being fenced through pawn shops these days.

Listening to all three Sparklehorse albums today. When I have blitzed them I have some Nile, the Judgement Night soundtrack and a Hubert Selby Jr spoken word on the old MP3 player.

Listening to the debut Suicide album, which remains one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard, but I still keep going back to it time and again. Also rocking out with some Mastodon (a mix of tunes from Crack The Skye and Leviathan), and after my lunch will be listening to "Put It On The Line" by Ghostface & Trife, and the first DJ Muggs Soul Assassins record. Great times as I prepare to tuck into to a tin of Heinz Spaghetti Hoops.

LOL - he looks like a cross between Zoolander and Planet of The Apes.

I made a nice pasta sauce last night, which I will also share! Used a pack of organic plum tomatoes, some anchovies, a small onion, 4 cloves of garlic, a dash of Grace chili sauce, a couple of chopped black olives and a good old handful of pecorino cheese. Took me about 5 minutes to make, and tasted delish.

Presently I am listening to the new Horrors record, "Primary Colours". It is astonishing, sounds like the second coming of My Bloody Valentine as played by the Psychadelic Furs. Also rocking some Lil Wayne, the Drought and Dedication mixtapes, Pharrell Williams & DJ Drama "Out of My Mind" mix, and the OST to the Kids In The Hall "Brain Candy" movie.

Another West Indian themed one for you to try - oxtail and butterbean stew. A lovely dish that is also incredibly cheap to make - just make sure you have plenty of time to cook it. Ingredients: 1/2 kilo oxtail, seperate the meat from the bone and fat, leave a bit of fat on to aid cooking (butcher might do this if you ask them nicely) 1 can butterbeans 4 rashers bacon 6-8 shallots finely diced 4 carrots - 1 finely diced, the other three chopped normally stick celery finely diced half white onion roughly chopped 4 garlic cloves minced or finely chopped 6 allspice pimento seeds ground to powder sprig fresh thyme 2 pints good beef or chicken stock seasoned flour First, take your oxtail meat, roll pieces in seasoned flour and brown in a little oil. When brown take and remove to one side. In the pan fry bacon, onion, shallots, garlic, celery and fine chopped carrots. You should have enough fat from the meat, certainly from the bacon. Once they have all softened (do not burn or brown them!), add all of the other ingredients (including the set aside meat) EXCEPT FOR THE BUTTERBEANS - put those in about 15 mins before serving otherwise they will turn to mush. Cook on a low heat, covered, for 2-3 hours until oxtail meat falling apart. Goes well with some nice fresh greens, some sweet potato, and a little garlic mash. Good eating!!!!
