I believe this topic deserves a poll of whether we should accept such an offer for Shaw.

I've often thought the same as jampot about where Shaw would have stood had we signed Buttner. It might have been a whole different story. Certainly we should cash in on Shaw due to him being prone to injury/sickness. 30 million shouldn't be scoffed at, but perhaps we should go for a Chelsea like deal with Ryan Thomas in exchange. Then again, we don't need a replacement as we have Chambers and Clyne, both capable of switching from right to left. That would leave the 30 million for strengthening other positions.

The competition for places will really heat up with his return. Yet I guess fresh injuries will necessitate chances for others. JWP seems to have become a spare part who doesn't quite fit in anymore. Hope it doesn't effect his development and confidence.

I thought today's match only papered over the cracks. Appalling game from our point of view. Pochettino just doesn't have an alternative game plan. A better team would have walked all over us and needed Boruc to save the day as he did today. Ramirez performs for 10 minutes and then fades. Poor Sam, just what must he do to get on and replace Ricky and JayRod. They were pretty poor and the lad could have easily played better and made a name for himself. Chambers was badly missed and once again we are wide open on the right of defense.

I'd like to agree but seeing how Theo and Ox have fared I think we'd do well to cash in on fragile Shaw before he gets crippled permanently and no longer worth anything. Compare the young Wayne Bridge in the Premiership and Shaw today in the Premier League. Bridge was never injured.

If I was Lambert now I'd be recalling to treatment loyal former Saints have been given under Cortese and his way of writing off players. 10 years ago Sam took a fading Saints striker , motivated him and gave him 10 good years playing for Bolton in the Premier League and earning an England cap. If that kind of money is really being offered, Ricky should go for it and put sentiment and previous thoughts of ending his career with Saints aside. Sam prefers having two big strikers up front so Ricky and Carroll could and would both being playing.
