Sort of agree but have to remember it was Pardew who brought those players in. I actually wonder if we would of done so well had it been Adkins brought in to do the job Pardew had to do. Adkins is doing great. Deserves all the praise he get's. But i think a lot of it is also down to Pardew and for that also deserves praise. People seem to forget when he took over there was basically nothing in the club. No staff, no scouts, players wanting out and moving on. Even people like Davis were about to bail, as was Lallana. Pardew talked them around. He re-built the football side of the club. Sure he made mistakes but the foundations for the team were put down by Pardew. The way we play now was started back then. He was also the one who gave Alex his chance. I hate looking at it in a Pardew vs Adkins way as it shouldn't be like that. They both did very well for the club. I appreciate and respect what Pardew did. Will probably be the only time we get to Wembley in a long long time. And at the same-time i respect and appreciate what Adkins is doing. They are both two good era's to be a Saints fan. Compared to the things that happened before it i think it is nice to be able to say our last two managers actually did very well for this club rather then saying how **** they were for us!

But all those names are just names Matt. They are not 3d characters. They are not made to looklike the player. It isn't difficult to simply write in a name is it. I find it very difficult to believe a file that contains simply a text database would be higher then a file that contains not only player likness in 3d (all the way down to his boots) but also commentary and audio for the player. My point is that saying a game has xyz amount of leagues doesn't make the game better. Saying you have 3 billion players in it doesn't make it better. For example most of the leagues in FM will never even be used. Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, China, Belarus, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, etc etc. I bet very few people actually select these leagues. Most computers can only handle maybe 5-6 leagues. I have a 4600 mghz processor and i can only play around 10 leagues before it takes days to progress. Where as in fifa they are all selected and all playable from the start. The amount of active leagues in FM is player choice. If you chose to activate the 40 leagues that are in Fifa your pc would grind to a halt. As i said above the fifa guys said they could add any league they want, but what would be the point? Are people really going to want to go and play in China? Go and play in Indonesia? Of course not. They mostly stick to the main European leagues i.e England, Germany, Spain and Italy. Some might go off into places like France, Holland, Russia etc now and then but most of the time it is just the big leagues. Having them in the database is one thing. Having them active is something totally different. Fifa/Pro Evo etc could do that if they wanted but there would be no point. It is quality not quantity and in FM if you go for quantity your game will be very very slow.

Not quite true. Fifa 12 has 40+ leagues including all squads I.e first team and reserves, there is also youth teams. FM i imagine has around the same amount of leagues. The fifa guys have said they could use every league if they wanted but there would be no point as nobody would use some of them. No point having leagues from Mongolia etc As for the commentary i think it will never be perfect but this years one is as close as your get. Having 4 well known commentators adds to the realism. I think it is more of a case of si can't afford to do those kind of things. If FM 11 sold around 800k then that isn't that much cash really. In terms of sales it is low. Fifa for example sold 2m in just 2 days. That gives them a lot of cash to do things they do.

So far i think it is alright. Will take a bit of getting used to but that is always the way with new games. Having £5m/£8m is a nice amount to play around with too. Tried to buy Owen as he was listed but the bastard won't even talk to me. Think i will change his name to "Michael greedy ****er". Good job Matt!

I was kidding mate Maybe things like this should be in the same threads though. I mean you don't see fifa demo threads, modern warfare demo threads etc and they are far more popular games. Would clutter the forum if we did that. Best to keep them all together no? I mean what is next Football manager update thread? Surely it is all the samething? Those of us who love Footie manager would of known there would of been a demo released from reading the other thread. I don't think a new one really makes much difference. That is of course just my own opinion. Maybe others disagree. Anyhow at 60% downloaded now woot!

I used to have an Iphone. At the time i thought it was great. Was my first smartphone. At the pub however i got to have a look at the htc desire. After messing around with that i thought it was great, was faster, had better touch screen, better camera, but most of all was the apps. There were so many things on there that were not on the Apple Store. It annoyed me that i paid so much cash but also had a limited capability to what i could do. Not to mention i couldn't even watch flash things in the browser. My gf also had an iphone and moved to the Galaxy. Both our contracts are up soon and will deffinatly be staying with android. Pretty sure most people who go from Apple to Android prefer Android.

It is difficult to get to grips with to begin with. We are so used to the un-realistic way of defending from before where a guy has the ball, we choose a player and run after the guy, press the old foot grab button and zoom off with the ball. That is how it used to be. Some might prefer that but it isn't realistic. If you watch football tackling is a timing thing. Most teams let them have the ball and don't chase them down until they are getting towards their penalty area. They move around in formation trying to contain the attacker, trying to cut down his angles. When that is done correctly he cannot shoot, he cannot run at the defence, he has no option but to pass. This is the way you need to think about it with Fifa now. Have to wait for the right momments to try and make that tackle. Here is a good video where some German explains it in a far better way then i could. It should help with getting some tips from it. As i said have to remember it is now about being a team rather then just one guy. If one guy is out of position the AI will exploit it just as how it is in real life. Some people can't get to grips with it and blame it on the game when really it is their own faults making it harder for themselves. In previous Fifa games and PES games the game was more about attacking. Defending was a side thing that not much thought went into. You didn't have to pay it much attention. You just grabbed the ball off them and went up the pitch. Personally i think it is a big improvement and one that was needed. Football isn't just about attacking, it is about defending too.

What ****es me off about Apple is that they change a part in one of their devices and they call it something new. Change of processor = conference and launch something new. You rarely see Sony or Microsoft don't do that as much. You don't see them changing a part in say the 360 or PS3 and then call it a PS3G or a 360X! And then charge you what it cost when the origional came out.... Normally when a company replaces a part they do so because it makes the item cheaper to make. Somehow when Apple does it the items price goes up.... I don't want to sound like an Apple basher but i simply don't get how someone thinks they are worth the money. Samsung will announce their new Nexus Prime next tuesday. I gurantee you that will be miles better while also being a lot cheaper.

Every sports game does that. It is processing the results/news which is very hardware dependent. Maybe one day in the future when consoles are faster they might not need to do it. Annoying yes but no different from every other game really.

What a load of crap that was. Hopefully now the whole hype around Apple will die as it isn't deserved. I had an Iphone and replaced it with a desire. The desire kills it in nearly every way and was just a fraction of the price. Apple is just the "cool" brand for kids, in the same way all the 12 year olds have to have Hollister. There is only so many times you can release the same thing and say it is something different. Their stocks are taking a hammering and rightly so.

Am a Dolphins fan (just because the gf and family are from there so visit a few times a year) but they are gash. Seen a few games in the sun life stadium but to be honest i prefer to go watch Lebron James and Wade at the basketball! I dunno maybe if Dolphins won some games when i am there it would be more exciting but can't see that happening. They are lucky they can't get relegated. Saying that though i did get to see Barca play for the first time at Dolphins stadium this year against Guadalajara who won 4-1! Was quality. Like 70k people there. That match was more exciting then the nfl games i seen! I look out for their results though and try to sound interested when the old man in law talks about them. Maybe one of the good teams will move there

Just read that Fifa 12 had the third biggest UK opening in history (sales wise) as just beat GTA4 figures. That is pretty amazing considering i don't think there were any great opening day deals like last year. The only 2 to beat it are MW2 and Black ops. Another 2 week break..... Against Montenegro..... who are ranked 22nd in the Fifa list. (they were 16th in June) How the feck does a team that was formed in 2007 (ranked 199) get to be ranked 16th-22nd in just 4 years? They failed to qualify for the world cup.... Sure they are doing ok in the current euro campaign (drawing with us) but how are they ahead of teams who did well in the last world cup i.e Ghana? Or does Blatter have a "friend" from there?

Really difficult isn't it! The difference from pro to world class is quite a leap i think. On pro i can handle it no problem. But step up a level and they run rings around me. Obviously it is more realistic now as before it was just a case of running alongside the guy and pressing the x button so it goes to your foot. Just got to remember to press them. If you keep your finger on x when near them it will follow them automatically and try and jockey them away from goal. Takes a bit of getting used to! I think the main thing i am happy about is they have removed some of those horrible cut scenes like when they would pan to the stadium view when someone is subbed. That and Andy "touch it" Gray has gone. I think the two commentary combos work really well. Having the choice between either Tyldsley/Townsend and Tyler/Smith is a good touch.

Well that isn't how i meant it to sound. Both are wrong and both should get the same amount of criticism for it. Doesn't matter which one is right or wrong or who has done what for the club etc. They should be keeping it to themselves no matter what they say. Making it public just seems like they want people to try and take sides. I myself as a fan who goes to most games don't want to take sides, i want us all on the same side. To do that one of them has to stand up and say "you know what, this is childish and petty, i can't be bothered with it anymore". If one doesn't talk about it then neither will the other. By saying stuff like Matt has even though it is not much just keeps the feud bubbling as i said before.

I am practicing what i preach. Go read what i said. I said neither guys should be saying anything at all about each other as it serves no purpose at all. It is very selfish on both their parts. Saints fans do not want to read that kinda stuff. I am not taking sides i said Cortese was stupid for giving an interview and MLT is stupid for getting Jeff to have a pop and for taking a tiny dig on his twitter. Firmly in the middle where all fans should be imo. Cortese's "dig" on saturday if you read it might not have been a dig. It was an interview with a paper. If you take that quote out of the interview he says something like "yes there is an issue with Matt and Lawrie". Confirming it in my eyes is not an insult. Just like if i asked you is your name Um Pahars and you said "yes my name is Um pahars". An acknowledgement of something is not necessary an insult. Where as with his twitter there is no interview, his own words posted on his own account. As i said before it is very petty. If Cortese comes out tommorow on his twitter if he has one and said something like "Heard Matt wanted free drinks at the golf event, surprise surprise" then i would say the same-thing. Both guys should not be talking about the other at all. No snide digs no nothing. Keep it to yourself or friendship circle. Putting it in the public domain is wrong. At somepoint one of them has to be the bigger man and rise up and ignore it. Isn't that what you tell your kids when they call each other names and things? It is childish and should stop.

What a load of ********. It isn't about being a legend or discarding him at a drop of a hat....It takes two to tango and Matt clearly wants to Tango with Cortese. Neither should be saying anything at all about the other. Matt has spoken to the media countless times over the past year or so about Cortese. Has Cortese come out and actually insulted MLT in that time? I don't think so. What he said to the media the other day was not even an insult he simply said that there was a falling out. We all know that. Matt took it as an insult, Jeff had his rant and that should of been it. Snide remarks on social networking/media are not going to fix things, they are going to make it worse. My point is that no matter how much of a legend Le Tiss is he must be extremely thick in the head if he thinks slagging off the chairman of the club in the media is going to suddenly mean he gets free tickets. I Matt seems to be taking every chance he get's to take digs. He sounds very bitter. Just because he scored 3 billion goals for us doesn't give him the right to basically throw a strop if he doesn't get what he wants then try and talk to the media/social networks. It doesn't matter who started it it should only matter who ends it. After what Jeff said Cortese has not replied. Matt is continuing it. As i said above what purpose does that serve? What good can come from it?

Sorry but i totally disagree. Le Tiss was a legend footballer. But being a legend does not give you the right to spout off to the media every 5 minutes and expect people to agree with you simply because you played football. How is it that only MLT is the vocal legend? What about all the other ones i.e 76 team? Don't hear them taking pops everytime they speak to the media do you? What i meant by going away is that he should realise things have changed now, the club has moved on. It sucks that he can't get a free ticket but is it really worth the fallout? I am pretty sure most sane people would much rather we had a club then give 1 guy a free ticket no matter what he did in the past. MLT needs to shut up now and stop taking pot shots. It just seems he can't let it go, the question you have to ask is why? If he cares so much about it then he would go about it the right way. The way he is doing it is not the right way at all.

For those who don't know MLT said "Wally downes in 11th hour out of court settlement with Nicola cortese, surprise surprise" Wonder if those people who bashed Cortese the other day will now say the same about Matt? Yeah didn't think so.... My personal opinion is that with every remark like this the more i think MLT just needs to go away now. It doesn't do anyone any good having a public feud. It is petty and stupid. Stop using the media/social networking to snipe. Great player but needs to grow up.

Got my copy today. Awesome game, deserves the review scores it has got. The thing i am liking the most so far is "Ultimate team". Never tried it before as thought you had to pay for it in the old games. It is free this time around. Is really addictive and you get two free packs to start off with. So make sure you get them as i think it is time restrictive i.e will be gone soon. In my 2nd pack i got Chaplow! Word of advice though with your first game don't go into the ultimate trophy tournament thing.....went in there with my team of players around 65 overall and had to play Barca on World Class in the first round in for 6 minutes.....it took the word "raped" to a whole new level (lost 0-8 had 1 shot on goal, think the keeper could of gone home). The good thing is the more you play the more coins you get which you use to buy new packs of players. If you don't want players you can trade/sell them to other players in the auction house thingy. In my 2 packs i got Yaya Toure so was quite chuffed as he is pretty good. You can also get stadiums/managers and stuff like that. So far so good have to say. If you not tried Ultimate Team before give it ago. I can imagine the Footie manager fans could get addicted to it badly!

Also just noticed Saints are currently 4th in the pl in the support your club thing! That means some of you cheeky buggers must of got it early Pompey sit 23rd in the championship. Best fans in the world! Guess pirated copies don't work online?

So anyone got any interesting videos from the demo/game yet when they been playing? Was playing as Arsenal and thought it couldn't get any worse for them....until this happened to the keeper...if that happened in real life Wenger would top himself probably!
