  1. To be honest when we/if we get to the PL most of the squad will have to change if we are to stay there. I think we should be more concerned with getting there first. Then once we are there then we can think about how to stay there. Gorkss would be a player who would make our team better and thus making our promotion chances a bit better.
  2. Gamespot got to have a go at Gamescom and wrote up a great article http://gamescom.gamespot.com/story/6329549/battlefield-3-co-op-and-conquest-preview?tag=topslot;img;2 Some of the things which stood out (remember BF is a multi=player game at heart so this is about the mp). "When the match first started, we were lucky enough to spawn directly into one of the two jets situated at our team's base (the two sides, predictably, are the US and Russia). There's a fairly steep learning curve to the way you maneuver these jets. Taking off is a simple matter of hitting the W key and pulling back on the mouse, but once you get up into the sky, you've got to exercise some real patience for getting the hang of things. The biggest challenge when starting out is that it's really easy to just zip straight over the cluster of capture points on the ground, which forms a relatively small chunk of the map compared to the sprawling outskirts the game gives pilots to turn back around. More than a few players in our match clearly grew impatient with the jet and just started going full-on kamikaze in a self-inflicted blaze of glory, but we managed to keep at it and get a decent hang of things. There's quite an incentive to do so: the gameworld looks amazing from way up in the sky. You feel like you can see across the entirety of the Middle East from up there, and the way the game's engine renders the battle below--including one smoking and fire-covered hillside--is just terrific" "Given how much time we spent up in the sky, we didn't get a chance to try out all the new classes down on the ground, but we did take a few stabs at the long-ranged recon, or sniper, class. Why this class? Dominating the skyline of this map is a humongous radio tower looming like a red-and-white-striped beacon for all would-be snipers. We couldn't resist the temptation, so we spawned in as a recon and made a beeline for the thing. Inside was a ladder that took us a solid 30 to 45 seconds to scale, but at the top was a dream of a sniper perch that let us see almost the entire map. Trying to pick off enemies was a genuine challenge given the generous levels of weapon sway DICE has added to the sniper rifles and the fact that your scope now appears to glint and shimmer in the sunlight as a heads-up for enemy players. Still, we managed to get a few solid kills in before we were taken out by a skilled tank driver below. Like in previous Battlefield games, physics are a huge obstacle to sniping. You have to be quick on your toes to compensate for bullet drop while also making sure to lead any running enemies. But if you find that too much of a challenge, you can still spot enemies so that they appear marked with an orange icon on your teammates' screens" "Our time with Conquest was every bit as chaotic and messy as you'd expect from a 64-player match composed entirely of people getting their first hands-on with Battlefield 3 multiplayer. Even so, we can tell that the foundation is there for a truly exceptional multiplayer mode once you put in the time to learn the ins and outs of each vehicle and how best to navigate the gargantuan map" And for the console gamer "Before we finish, we should note one interesting bit of trivia straight from DICE's Karl-Magnus Troedsson: The PC version of Battlefield 3 won't be the only one with multiplayer server browsers; you'll even be able to browse for servers on consoles." About fecking time someone got round to doing that! Can finally find a server with like minded people and kick the annoying kids that plague cod.
  3. Thanks for the reply Steve. It makes things a bit clearer. However i think i need to point out those "odd questions" are not odd at all. As you mentioned you are "a limited company". I suggest you go read up on business regulations because there are various types of limited companies. Of which each has to follow a different set of rules as minty expanded on. As i said i always thought that the website was a members website where the subscribers run the website. Their payments are what fund the business. That is not a "club or society" that is a "Private company limited by guarantee" as i mentioned above. The "guarantors" are the members. And the members are paying subscribers. I am pretty sure when we started talking about creating a new forum it was sold on the fact the "members" would have a say in how it is run i.e on key decisions? But as you explained the site is actually owned by 2 people thus is a "Private company limited by shares". Which i also mentioned above. Sorry you found it odd.
  4. About the possesions thing the only way a debt collector can get balliffs to come around is if they get a warrent of execution order passed in the court. If someone turns up without one of them then tell them they are breaking the law and tell them to **** off. These letters you get are designed to scare people into paying the bills. If they use words like "courts", "charges", "debt collectors" and so on then it can be seen as harrasment which could get them in trouble if reported. When you guys moved in i assume you would of signed a tennancy agreement right? If you have a copy of that with the dates on it then you should send it to the companies as would proove you were not there when the electricity/gas was used. Debts cannot be transfered to people in that way. It is based on the individual not the property. The only way i can think that it would be is if yhe landlady has those things set up in her name which would be pretty stupid. Which if it is the case then she is liable to pay the fee. One of the tenancy rules is that when you rent out property the tennant has access to utilities such as electricity and gas, all disputes should be settled before a new tennant moves in. If you keep getting the letters just explain you were not there at the time and have just moved in etc.. send them the tenancy agreement. They won't take you to court for it seeing as it is not your debt. These companies can only go to court when there is a legal dispute. If someone has broken the law. I.e if someone signs a contract and backs out of it. Owing someone money is not actually breaking any laws. Seeing as you have no contract with these guys there is nothing that has broken the law. So i wouldn't worry about the letters and stuff like that, they won't take you to court. They will eventually just flog the debt on to a debt collector who will send more letters trying to scare you. If i was you i would speak to the landlady and say she needs to sort it out as it isn't your problem.
  5. If that is the case then i am pretty sure things need to be clarified. I was always under the assumption that this was a website run from amongst Saints fans for Saints fans and would not be a profit making site. All money generated would go into running the site? Was that not the reason why we all offered to pay the money to begin with when the old site went down? If it is a site where one or two guys are making money from the fans then i think that is pretty disgusting. Especially in the light that it does not actually work..... If that is the road these guys have gone down then seeing as it is a LTD company shouldn't they be showing its members the yearly numbers? If it is a Private company limited by guarantee then they are under law not allowed to distribute profits. Seeing as there are no shares it is not a Private company limited by shares or public limited company. That is not me saying someone is taking the money it is me saying we as "members" have a right to know how the funds are spent. By keeping it quiet raises suspicion.
  6. I was wondering if the guys who run the site could give us a lowdown on what happens to the money that you make here? Does it all go back into the site or does someone take some in way of payment for their efforts etc?
  7. I will link it on the site so you don't need to go to youtube, Have to say that looks soooo amazing. Probably the best video i have ever seen. What makes it even better is that it is all in game footage from the multi-player! Finally get to see the planes/copters being flown and it looks epic! I can imagine flying the fighter jets will be just as hard as in bf2 but boy does it look fun! My pc might actually explode playing this....
  8. Thats great. I always wanted them to add that to it! Does it also mean you can add more leagues to the selected nations once you started? Like say in England you start with the football league, can you then add the non leagues later?
  9. Not sure i understand what that means. Is it the ability to add/remove leagues while the game has started? Like say for example you start with England,Spain,France,Italy leagues and later on think it would be nice to add US league. You can do that without having to re-start the game? If it means that then it would be awesome.
  10. I was at the game and to be honest when i saw it i thought that both went for the ball and then their guy just fell over. At the time thought it was really harsh. However now seeing it on tv i didn't know he did the follow through kick/stamp. I don't think he meant any real intention to hurt the guy but it was pretty nasty and could of done some serious damage if there was more power behind it. It was a straight red and was a stupid challenge really. I don't think anyone can blame the ref on that one. If someone had done the same to say Lallana and he was then injured for a long time people would be wanting blood.
  11. That is Nintendo for you! I never had a handheld console before but now i have to commute to London a bit more i thought would be something good to pass the time with. So i got one for £115 on amazon. Seems a fair price as you know they will put that back up to around £150 towards xmas as that is when the big games come out for it i.e Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart 3D, Star Fox 3D, Assasins Creed: Lost legacy, Kingdom Hearts 3D (that is gonna sell by the truck load), Kid Icarus uprising, Resident Evil revelations, Metal Gear Solid Snakeater 3D and so on. There are quite a lot of potential decent games in the next few months. I know what you mean though about the novelty factor wearing off. But the 3DS does have a bit of potential for other things. Like for example Sky and Nintendo are working on getting Sky 3D/tv on there. That would be pretty cool. Same goes for films. I think Netflix are already on there and eventually will activate 3d films. Again that is pretty cool. Reason i was never really interested in the old handhelds was because they were just consoles pretty much. Didn't do much else. The 3ds on the other hand does seem like it can do at least a few other things too i.e web browsing. No doubt it will sit there un-used for a bit, but if that happens can just flog it on ebay at xmas!
  12. I read somewhere that Nintendo are doing a "sorry" package for those who bought it early, think you get 20 free games if you register before tonight? Not sure if those games are worth the £100 or so you would be out of pocket. Better then nothing though right? I saw Eurogamer now have up a price watch article, looks like a big price war about to start tomorrow http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-11-uk-3ds-price-cut-roundup
  13. I noticed earlier that the bookies now have us third/fourth for promotion. I think iff we do go on to add a quality CB (Gorkks) and a quality striker (Maynard) then the bare minimum you would expect would be playoffs. That would be about £1m on Cork, £1.8m on Fox, £500k for De Ridder, that is £3m+ before we even got to the CB and Striker. If we get those i'd imagine our summer spending would be near to the £10m mark. WHich is a feck load of money spent, possibly the most a manager will have spent in a summer here? Let's hope those deals go through as would make a good team great imo.
  14. So any of you guy's got one? Was thinking of maybe picking one up as should be about £115 from midnight tonight (at least in Tesco it will be). Reading the remarks about the Zelda games i guess this would be the game to pick up?
  15. Also just to nail the coffin shut a bit more about him being gash. He was selected in the football league team of the year in 09
  16. Reading their comments on there i feel a bit sorry for them really. They all seem to rate him, i couldn't find that negative comment that was mentioned above. They see him as one of their best players and is another big loss for them. The sad thing is we have been in that situation ourselves where you sell anything of value and replace them with youngsters or nobody at all. That said he is obviously a signing with an eye on the PL. He has played in the PL and SPL with Celtic. Has played in the champions league etc. I feel sorry for Harding as he will obviously be replaced (you don't spend £1.8m on a sub in the championship) and means Dickson will probably be moved on now along with Mills. But we strengthen a position and that is what progression is all about. I just hope Adkins brings in the CB we really need. So welcome to the club Fox!
  17. Pap there are a lot of things i could say to counter what you said but there is no point as we both see things in a different light. We can go around in circles all day. But i think one point needs to be made clear is that these kids are from every back ground. They are not just from you poor London estates. They come from all over. If you read a lot of the comments or the watch the news they make it clear these people are from the rich parts as'well as the poorer parts. If you are looking for reasons or excuses then should maybe at least start knowing that it isn't about an economic divide. This is not a case of the poor rising up against the rich.
  18. I have not bleat on about being a council estate kid who made good. I have never used where i came from as an excuse for my behaviour. You obviously have. I was brought up to respect other people, to respect other peoples property, to not go around causing pointless trouble, to know that if i want something that maybe other families have that i have to work hard and save up for those things. Make some sacrifices. Most people who come from a council estate are decent people. Around 99% will be law abiding people who understand the realities of where they are and know that to change that they have to work hard as it won't be given to you. Those things are not taught to you, they are things you know from being a decent human being. If you go away from that and decide your better off being out there commiting crimes then as i said before you should accept the consequences of your actions.
  19. But that is the problem, they are not left to rot in "ghettos" while we live in blissful ignorance. That is a total false misconception. Everybody has a choice in this country. I grew up in a council estate and decided rather then be a nobody doing nothing i would go to school and actually try and make something for myself. All these kids have exactly the same option. But they give up because they think it is too hard. They would rather do nothing then go and learn an education. Then when they have failed to get an education they then blame socety for not helping them. So then the community try and help out by giving some of these people work placements/apprenticeships, i am sure a lot of you will have had some of them. They have the choice to then learn that job and work hard, maybe be given a permanent job afterwards. Back in the day when i worked at Marwell as a waiter to fund college they took a few of these people on full-time. The point is that there are opportunitites like that everywhere but they would rather society handed it to them on a plate rather then actually do any work in finding and sorting it out themself. These kids have it easy. Look at their clothes in those photos/videos. Does that strike you as some kid struggling to survive? As i said before there comes a time when people who do wrong have to take responsibility for their own actions and face the consequences for those actions. By looking at it from the point of view where we need to look the other way and look for the route cause has been done for the last 10 years or more. Did that help? You can only help those who wish to be helped. If people would rather look for the easy routes and want things on a plate without having to work hard for it or make sacrifices then what can you do to help them? Give them some job simply because they will stop rioting? What about the guy who came from a council estate, worked his way out of there, got his education, went and worked for a company, that company died and he lost his job and also needs a job now. Do you give it to the guy who has worked hard or the guy who expects it to be given to him? There are many options for these kids. As eluded to in that letter above about the kid who changed his life around. He decided he wanted to change. He felt he was now apart of the community. He made a choice to go to those classes/groups and that turned his life around. These people have the exact same options as he did but as i said before they look for the easy way out. They have no interest in it. Because afterall going out looting and destroying the decent peoples livelyhoods is "fun" right? Our society needs to change from thinking the kid has it hard when it is the family who have to deal with those kids actions that have it hard. As i said before to you if it was your house that was burnt down, your shop that was robbed, your gran that was attacked for her money, your car that was set alight i doubt you would be so forgiving as much as you try and claim you would be.
  20. Thank god i am not working in London this week as looks a total nightmare! That BBC video above sums it up for me. The problem with our current society is that we look for way's to try and give people the benefit of the doubt. If they kill someone it must be because they had a **** up-bringing. They burn down a shop it must be because they come from a poor background, they rob someone it must be racial, they break into an 85 year old womens house and steal her life savings it must be because they have limited opportunities to find a job, they go and throw rocks at the police it must be because they feel they have no respect and have no way of earning it etc etc Society needs to stop making excuses for these people. Comes a time when they need to take responsibility of their own lives rather then trying to blame it on everyone else.
  21. Personally i would change the laws where if you are out breaking into shops then you do so at your own risk. In other countries people know if they loot they risk being shot. Why should we be any different? Sure that sounds heavy handed but if they were not in the shop they would not be shot right? The laws need to change to stop protecting the person who commits the crime. To mention what some guy said on the news what would of happened if say these guy's went off to one of the museums? They just let them walk in and take away the priceless objects? So we spend billions on security to stop thieves breaking in but when it is a mob we just ignore it? You can try and defend them and call them what you want but these are just opportunist kids who went out trying to steal from shops and burn down buildings putting lives at risk. If you lived there and it was your house burnt down i doubt you would be so understanding. Even less so when you find out they caught the kid who did it and let him go with a slap on the wrist.
  22. Because there is no deterrent. They know they can get away with what they want. On the news they had a reporter who gave her opinion of what was going on. She said it was just a bunch of kids out trying to steal stuff from the shops. There was no political reason. They saw on tv what they could get away with. The more this is put on tv the more others see what they can do. That is possibly the reason why it is maybe starting in other areas. These kids know nothing will happen to them and that is why they do it. If the law was more stronger then they would think twice about it. These kids will one-day be the main generation of the country. Can you imagine what that will be like?
  23. Normally i would agree but i think the harsh reality is this is just an excuse now. These kids are not from the third world. They live in a society where if they don't want to work they will be looked after. Sure they won't get much cash on the dole but they don't care as they have no aspirations to be anything. If these people think what they are doing is ok then sorry they need to be taught it isn't. That is the problem. Society has got to the point where we make excuses for these people and try and look the other way. Everywhere you go you see them. For example in my village they hang out at the bus stop. I'm sure they do at most places. Every morning the local cleaner has to go and clean up their mess. Broken glass on the floor, burnt plastic, grafiti etc.. loads of rubbish all over the place. The sad thing is there is a bin right next to it.....these people would rather throw the trash on the floor then actually walk 1 meter and put it in the bin. Are you saying where these people come from determines if they have the brain understanding to know if rubbish goes in the bin or not? These kids come from rich families here. To me it always seems people try and find some excuse to say why it is not their fault when it is their fault. They make these decisions. The problem in my view is society has been too easy on them. Maybe that has something to do with EU laws who knows. But these thugs need to realise that if you act like this where you can break into shops/houses and loot or set something on fire you will have consequences for your actions.
