By the end of this round of games we will dispense with our current manager and will embark on the latest saga of this whole sorry affair.. but with an even more annonymous person at the helm. Players will continue to be loaned out and other prepared for the Jan transfer window until all we have left is the academy left overs. I remember many of us thinking our academy players could walk this league when we were relegated. Now we get to watch this happen but safe in the knowledge that we already mknow the sorry answer. Oh by the way... the rest of the CCC will have broken away from the bottom 3 or 4 leaving us to wait for the inevitable.. meanwhile we all wait here hoping that a takeover emerges... anyone read "Waiting for Godot"????

winning the 4 team mini league relegation lottery
gjphilsaint replied to gjphilsaint's topic in The Saints
It is keeping tabs on those teams that may be relegated and is proving the point that from day 1 we were in a relegation fight... if you do not like this thread (it has over 1000 hits) then look somewhere else. Perhaps try starting a "Saints for Europe" thread... The facts are we are in a relegation fight.. always have been this season... there are a number of teams likely to be in it with us, I am keeping tabs on them and whilst the early contenders numbered approx 9 it is clearly fleshing out into 4 or 5 clubs for the drop... US included. Each set of games is therefore analysed against the fortunes of our real rivals. Does that make things clearer? -
i assume you are talking about how many Reading will put past us?

winning the 4 team mini league relegation lottery
gjphilsaint replied to gjphilsaint's topic in The Saints
Swansea 3 Southampton 0 Norwich gain 3 pts Barnsley gain 1 pts No points gain for Donny & Forest but we lose further -2 goal difference on them Highest we can expect next round of games, realistically (because of such poor goal diff) is 20th but cant go lower than we are now. Having loaned a proven goal scorer because we cant afford to play him whilst being unable to score goals ourselves: 1 goal scored and 10 conceded in last few games is a very worrying trend. Although still plenty of time left in the season it appears to me that our mini league is beginning to take its predicted shape. Positives... well we do have players to come back to play, but most of them are long term injuries or just plain crocked. negatives: to many to mention all JP says: "We need to turn the boys into men and that is all about confidence." Zero confidence and turning men into boys as he says takes a life time. Is there any life left in this club?? Overall: very poor round of games mini league contestants are shaping up and soon, all we can hope for is 21st place..the "mini league relegation lottery". Just how bad are Doncaster/Forest & Barnsley? Are we any better? Almost ready to discount Norwich & watford (the latter proven that they can thrash us at least, the former with a striker like Lita would fill his boots with us!!!) Charlton... sound like us a few years back.. but likely to score hatfuls against our defence... which leaves just 3 teams... Thread factor : 1% -
Quote on BBC "We need to change boys into men.." well we all know how long that takes!!!!!!!
-
Not entirely sure about that IMO
-
look out for my weekly "4 team mini relegation league lottery" thread update.. it appears to be exactly how things will pan out...
-
sorry wont be conference because the club wont be here.. this isnt a club with just a few miliion in the red we are talking about. The ground will be sold to clear the debts and the club will die. The nearest pyramid club then will be EASTLEIGH!!!!
-
What odds James getting a red before end of game?
-
Cast iron we wil go down... but what happens after that will send shivers down the spine of all average clubs in England.... and it aint a Saints revival!!!!

Would this current Saints side survive in league 1?

OK so I modify my original thread title and say would Saints look out of place in league 1? -
The question is : "Is JP a tinkerman?"

winning the 4 team mini league relegation lottery
gjphilsaint replied to gjphilsaint's topic in The Saints
OK first off... lose ground to barnsley their gain (2pts) gain ground on charlton their loss (1pt) Lose ground on Norwich their gain (2pts) no change on forest gain ground on Doncaster their loss (1pt) Saints slip to 21st.... could go bottom 3 next game could go as high as 18th max gap continues to close between low position and highest BUT a good away point (so many saying would have taken that at the start) a clean sheet (always an encouraging sign) JP picks a more "experienced" side suggesting that more able/established players are now prepared or being allowed to play in vital positions. Overall: current climate suggests a good set of games, as long as we also pick up a few "freak" results against strong teams a la Norwich/Wolves (not that we have a Lita in our ranks!!) Thread factor : 7% (clean sheet cause for optimism??) -
who thinks it's gonna be another last day relegation fight?

dramatic but I feel true but...... unless someone puts a halt to our constant managerial changes and current financial situation....... this club is dying...... administration.....then gone! -

Would this current Saints side survive in league 1?
gjphilsaint replied to gjphilsaint's topic in The Saints
Like an earlier posting said this smacks of when we came down from the Prem. Give me some good reasons why we would survive, and if they happen to be, solid defence, forget it, if it happens to be "we will play teams off the park" forget that because they arent working here. perhaps you could play the "Joker" being... "FFS we ARE Southampton and we spent umpteen years in the Prem.." all of which would not wash.... -
Having looked at and contributed to the "Would you swap with Leicester" thread, how well do you think our current squad/management team fare in League 1? My opinion... no better with results, still outmuscled and out fought.. and with less bums on seats at SMS to boot. Seems like if things dont change soon we may get to find out.. well for half a season at least until we go buuuuuust!!!
-
no no no whichever division we are in our current set up would still not survive. Out muscled and outfought... the same would apply to games at leeds, millwall, scunny, southend, colchester, oldham, Peterboro (gulp), Bristol Rovers (gulp again), Carlisle, Tranmere and even Hereford (and they are bottom!!!)
