  1. Most people don't know what's the front of a UK coin and what's the back anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obverse_and_reverse

  3. Sawn-off shotgunage. You used to hear about sawn-off shotguns everyday back in the 70's, but hardly ever now.

  5. Yeah. Chitty chitty bang bang, Harry Potter....
  6. Harsh. Did the bike lock come with insurance?
  7. I've just seen three unmarked police cars fly past our office going towards Portswood High Street, but they weren't the usual Skoda VRS traffic units so wonder if they were armed response and there's another robbery going on? :smt067

Why'd you get them because dogs are rubbish at catching mice?
  9. "Buy it now" isn't so much an auction; more an immediate sale. The "reserve price" is the minimum you're prepared to let it go for in an auction, but obviously if it attracts bids for more, then all is good. I think it costs you more in listing fees to put a reserve price in. +2 feedback is not much to go on and won't prove much to potential bidders. You need to be looking in at least the region of +10 and 100% to satisfy most buyers of your trustworthiness.
  10. The most important thing to do to get the best price for your item is prove your trustworthiness. That normally means building up your positive feedback by buying stuff beforehand. Use good quality photos and get your username in them to prove you actually have the item rather than just using stock images. Describe the item in detail and use an accurate description with plenty of appropriate keywords in the title and this is how prospective buyers will find it in the first place. Choose your start time carefully as this will dictate the finish time and items will often rocket in price as people sit and wait to snipe an auction in the final minutes or even seconds. You're best bet is to time it so it finishes in the evening or at the weekend. For example, start a 10 day auction at 8pm on Thursday and it will end at 8pm on the Sunday the following week. You are constantly reminded you are entering into a legal contract when you buy or sell on eBay but has anyone ever been prosecuted for not completing a transaction? Bidding on your own item is known as shill bidding and obviously banned, but is prolific on eBay.

Our cats brought in a rat at 0730 on Saturday morning. I get woken up by the clatter of the catflap followed by a "Squeek, squeek, squeek..." and this rat runs into the bedroom closely pursued by our two cats. It then does a u-turn running back out in to the hallway and finds itself trapped in the corner, so I swiftly dispatch it with a belt from a shoe before chucking it in the bin and back to bed.

  15. You were probably on the next bank around then after the three ambulances because that's the whole of that one.

  18. Here then? You may have a bit of trouble picking yourself out.
  19. Were you in the Club grandstands? I probably have a shot of you from mine in Vale.
  20. I doubt the light is reflected from the Earth, so if there is any light at all, it is coming from the Sun without being dulled by an atmosphere. Imagine the brightest ever day on earth. This is brighter. You will not need a long exposure.
  21. I can't see how you fit 7 in that.
  22. I saw Gaz from Supergrass just off St Mary Street last night.
  23. I have a VW Touran 2.0TDi which is the same sort of size as the Zafira and don't use the back two seats except if I absolutely have to. They offer about the same volume of leg room as an ice cream tub and certainly wouldn't be the easiest to get out of in an accident. With them up, you're left with enough luggage space to take one extremely narrow suitcase, but that's what happens when you try and squeeze seven seats into a Golf or Astra chassis. With two of the middle row of seats out, I was able to collect my nephew and his girlfriend from university as well as all his worldly possessions collected over the last three years. I regularly take twenty+ boxes of Cat5 cable to site along with tools. The performance isn't too bad offering 0-60 under 10 seconds or returning about 40mpg (but normally not both at the same time). A single word conclusion; Versatile.
