I disagree it was Terry Paines goal at Leyton Orient 1n 1966 to make the score 1 -1 and virtually ensure that we would be in the First Division the following year Although Bobby Stokes did score an important goal ten years later getting to the First Division I think was more important overall for the club than winning the FA Cup

I would like to be in the Championship next season instead of being uncompetitive in the PL

Very true but managers of stature do not seem to want to come here As a matter of interest do you know any suitable managers who have not been employed

Perhaps other strikers were not interested in coming to Southampton Apart from an injured Ings we have not signed a decent striker when we have been in the PL for over twenty years except when Koemann was the manager We are unlikely to recriut a manager of his standing in the foreseeable future and as a club which is on the downit is not a place where top class players want to play except for youngsters who are not certain to develop into PL players The club have been in a decline since Puel was sacked not helped by the lack of investment by our Chinese owner.who could not release any money

The club is in the position it is because it has players like Armstrong and Bazunu who are not PL standard and a large proportion of the the fanbase are demanding for the Club to be in the PL It is not going to happen for sometime we are just an average Championship club as our League position shows with no outstanding players I have seen over the years promotions where the teams had international players like Paine Chivers Melia Forsyth Ball Williams Boyer MacDougal Lambert Fonte Llanana plus very good other players I just cannot see how we are going to get to the PL and stay there with what we have now
