  1. Having followed the Saints since 1960 I know what a decent CF is In 1966 for instance we got promoted with Martin Chivers in Ted McDougall and Phil Boyer in helped us back into Div 1 1978 and of course Rickie Lambert in 2011 You may not have been around in those days but I can assure they were far better than the ones you mention
  2. Do not feel very confident regarding the coming season as like previous windows have not recrited a decent CF Our creative future seems to be in the hands of a teenager who is bound to turn into a genius but does not want to sign a Saints contract and could not get in to one of the worst PL teams ever and a relatively even to Chez unknown Armenian who plays in Russia and wants a decent pay day anywhere but not necessarily Southampton

Personally I too don’t think an offer of £35m + £8m + some sort of sell-on is buttons for him given that he has only 2 PL gpals and 2 U21 Caps
  4. Pretty dreadful transfer window so far for creative incoming players
  5. The team still lacks creative players I hope we get some decent loanees in

I just cannot see anyone paying £40 m plus for him at the moment - he went to Chelsea they did not apparently play him Man U and Liverpool have spent loads this summer Man City and Arsenal do not seem to be interested so where else would he go Abroad possilbly at least with Lavia and Livvramento they performed consistently in the PL like Fernandes who I think is better bet for PL clubs but as he is on a longer contract there is no rush for the Club to sell Dibling has a much shorter contract which I am not sure what length of time is left so the club will want to get a decent fee although all the pissing about has not helped in integrating him into the current team and what is the point if we perform well in the first few league games.
  7. Do you still have the samr opinion of him as I think he could make it on the Ashes tour this summer Captain Phil Salt compared 22-year-old fast bowler Sonny Baker to England great James Anderson after he shone in Manchester Originals' 10-run win over London Spirit at Old Trafford. Baker began Spirit's chase of 164 with five dots and conceded only four runs when asked to bowl the first 10 deliveries. He troubled two international greats in David Warner and Kane Williamson, who have a combined 38,000 international runs to their name, with swing and lively pace. That helped limit the Spirit's scoring and, despite Australian Warner hitting 71, the hosts, who left out Anderson after defeats in their opening two games, were always in control. Warner was caught down the leg side off England seamer Josh Tongue with 38 needed from 15 and Baker returned to dismiss Australia international Ashton Turner for 13 - a deserved reward for a fine spell that cost only 22 runs. "He was outstanding," Salt told Sky Sports. "Jimmy had a rest today but that is the closest to what he did, if not better. It will be hard to pick seamers for the next match." Anderson also praised the highly-rated Baker, who was awarded an England development contract earlier this year despite having never played a County Championship match at that stage. "I have seen a lot of footage of Baker but not seen a lot of him live," Anderson told Sky Sports. "I have been so impressed. "Tonight he bowled outstandingly well. He has got pace, skill, swings the ball both ways. He has a lot going for him."

Yes I fully understand that but if you continually sell off your better players you are not going achieve success on the field and keep the fans happy

I am not really sure that SR want real success on the field but want real success on the balance sheet

I totally agree but I do not think it is easy to currently persuade decent players to come to St Mary's as even our youngsters wish to defect and our decent players hardly ever wish to extend their contracts
  11. So you did noy like what was said about Jack seemed to answer the question really well

The point I am making is that in the 60s when there was the maximum wage until the formation of the PL was that wages were really not that high compared with today when nobody of real talent wants to play for the Saints I was very lucky to see top class players like Ron Davies Peter Osgood Charlie Geopge FranK Worthing Peter Shilton and Alan Ball in Division2 play for us and we had loads of young players who played in the top division those days are of course over Our youngsters seem to move very early and reasonable players do not want to extend their contracts. It is difficult for clubs of our size to recruit players while many on here think the club is incompetent and abuse those in charge By the way Terry Paine played in the 1966 World Cup before he had played a Div 1 game

And Terry Paine Stevie Williams and Martin Chivers but those days are over because we could pay top wages but not now

£50 m for Dibling who has done little in the PL is pretty ridiculous

That only happened in a couple of years I do not recall many going there prior to 2010 and since a few went to Spurs Shearer went to Blackburn one Wallace went to Leeds I think but these days we do not seem to be able to keep anybody really good to a second contract When you got married in the 80s things were so different but the PL has not been good to SFC becuse we are are small club with a small fanbase I live in Berkshire up the M3 with an easy trip by car to St Mary's but once every couple of years I see kids wearing Saints shirts
  18. They probably want a better job with potentially better prospects which is not difficult to understand
  19. It is likely that Broja was born there as Wiki states Broja was born in Slough, England to Albanian parents
  20. Yes that would be my pick too but I think he may keep a couple back and use them later in the game like he did yesterday. it is becoming a squad game these days rather than a team one
  21. Seems have started OK to me just chill and see what happens
  22. So what you cannot do anything about it as there is no fucking guarantee that the team you support has to be successful
  23. What do you mean get rid of them for players to leave they must have a decent contract to go to I get the impresssion that ABK is a knob and no one wants him Airbo apparently is on a decent contract with no other clud wanting to match it So it is not easy to get rid of some players
  24. The conditions changed completely after the rain break with the ball swinging and Worcestershire bowling well
