All successful managersv need successful strikers Man City are doing better now that Haaland Even Russell did OK when Adams and Armstrong were regularly scoring Still has little chance of success with our current strikers

I think they have had over a dozen managers since 2020
  4. The club wants to make money on transfer deals I am not really sure it is driven by results on the pitch
  5. I have been watching and following the Saints fpr over sixty five years and have seen four promotions to the top Division and I just think it is unlikely that we will get promoted this season and if we did we would be awful in the PL I always hope that we will do well and at the moment hope we can finish a high as possible in the League this season and we will probably finished a great deal higher than we are now SR seem to want to buy young and inexperienced players who hopefully can be sold at a profit and the squad has hardly played together and has not gelled in anway I know they have bought a couple of relatively expensive Championship players but as yet they have not proved to have enhanced the team hopefully they will but we do not have a fully fit set of strikers to score the goals. We have a young manager with no experience of English Football in a very competive league. There do not seem to be any stand out players so he has been chopping and changing until recently. In the last week or so results have been better we drew with the league leaders beat Sheff Utd away and drew with an average Derby County I feel that SR have got us into a bad situation with their strategy recruitment of players and coaches which will have to live with especially as we have so little fire power with our strikers We could get another head coach and get a few better results but I just cannot see how SR are going to lead us to the PL where the standard is so much better than when we were relatively competetive there with teams like Bournemouth and Crystal Palace being really good,

Can anybody really believe that Will Still will ever lead a competive Saints team in the PL
  7. Well it was at least we had a few decent players but apart from Macca there are not any We have a few adequate players but no where near enough to get us promoted but apart from Coventry and Leicester there are not many teams who I can say are possibly going to get promoted either Why Still was selected to be manager beggars belief
  8. According to the BBC If there is to be a winner, it's not looking likely to be Saints, they haven't mustered a shot on target in the second half.
  9. Half the points were won when Tilak was playing without him we would be relegated so he is my player of the season
  10. I agree with your sentiments but he probably has contract to play four day cricket with us
  11. He is definetely in my Hampshire Team of best players I have seen replacing Derek Shackleton
  12. I do not think the bowling department is OK as it relies on Abbott and Dawson who together with Fuller are near the end of their careers The others Turner Jacks Baker Currie and Wheal are erratic to say the least
  13. Like the Saints get a decent striker getting a Div 1 number 4 is going to be pretty difficult I would have thought
  14. I see Tilak Varma is playing for India in the Asia Cup Final
  15. Ask Nick Gubbens I do not think he was happy about his dismissal
  16. Or turn up with a decent team
  17. He would of been found today too many not outs would have been proved to be out
  18. We do not seem to have any young seam bowlers who are regularly particularly accurate
  19. We just need time to rebuild we are not going y#to get anywhere in the short time with this group of players
  20. It is the fucking players but the appointment of the manager is a bit bizzaire with no appropriate experience
  21. I think that for a team to get promoted there needs to be a nucleus of decent current players which can be added to with new ones Two years ago we had KWP Bednerak Smallbone S Armstrong A Armstrong and Adams and possibly Eidoze to which we added THB Manning Downes and Fraser and later Brookes and Rothwell and used other players which we already had such as Stephens Bree Airibo etc Today I feel we do not have a decent nucleus as Downes A Armstrong and THB have lost form and no one else apart from Fernandes and Robinson are guaranteed starters although THB is likely to improve with more game time So it is very difficult to try and recruit new players to gel in with what we have already got to get a promotion team so I think we will end up towards the top half of the table Just buying players like we have done recently has proved to be a failure so what is the point of wasting money
  22. I agree with your comments but I see little evidence that the current recruitment is based on new players who will enhance the team instead they seem to be low cost players who will develop a bit and then will be sold at a profit But if wages are low not many talented players will want to come to St Mary;s
  23. I expect they did that but getting players to St Mary's is not easy these days as our squad continually Deteriorates
  24. I was quite surprised that we got promoted that time but we did have a top goal scorer in Rickie Lambert and Martin Chivers in 1966 and MacDougal and Boyer in 1978 Last time Armstrong and Adams must have scored over 40 cannot see the current strikers scoring loads of goals with their current performances
  25. They are not good enough to get promoted we need at least one top striker it is just fucking obvious
