Yes that is true but he has been very inconsistent with two large innings where he was man of the match but with very small runs scored in other completed innings

I feel that the decline in the playing standard in recent seasons has ended and the future looks a great deal brighter than it did a few months ago promotion is a possibility but staying in the PL is by no means a formality

Exactly in our promotion season in 1966 I believe Chivers scored 30 goals and Norman Dean got 15 or so

I think you are being slightly unkind because it is quite possible for the team to get 90 points and still not get automatically prompted because of the form of both Ipswich and Leicester this season In 2011 we were promoted with 89 points with in my opinon a better squad than we have today and Adkins had already had had success with them the previous season, I think Russell has done really well to knit the team together with out a really top striker like Rickie Lambert and I lookforward to the the rest of the season

Also I would have thought cnsideration should be given to opposition we are playing against as Blackburn were hopeless and Coventry and Watford were not if today's results are anything to go by

Hardly surprising I would have thought as all of the attacking players are solid but not outstanding where as our previous promotion winning teams had some top class players Paine Sydenham and Chivers in 1966 Ball Boyer McDougal and Williams in 1978 Lambert and Lallana more recently

With the players we have we are a solid Championship team what is wrong with that? We just do not have enough consistent top class players to be an outstanding team and as yet I have not seen any evidence that SR are building one
