Surely that means it is mathematically possible to get to the the playoff as oppossed to there is a realistic possibility of getting to the playoffs.

We are 15th in the league and not playing well If we had beaten both Millwall and Colchester then you may have a point but we did not so I cannot see us getting to the playoffs.
