  1. I agree that the team should be good enough for the CCC but we need it to be good enough for promotion . We may lose Lallana and Schenderlein to bigger teams. Wotton Jaidi Perry Thomas Murty Connolly maybe too old or not fit enough to hack it. Trotman Waigio are loanees. As in my mind we will be promoted this year or next I am planning for the future
  2. I agree but I think he was right in that the club could not go forward in the way it was functioning under Lowe without a serious amount of investment. Lots of fans said we should have invested after 2003 which was probably a correct call as the team especially the defence were ageing but that was not realistic as the club did not really have the neccessary financial clout Wilde tried but failed to get the investment which contributed to us going into Adminisitration. Now thanks to Administration we have a wealthy owner no mortgage on the stadium ( which could be said to be a £30 m investment in itself) and hopefully a bright future so despite all the frustration of the last few years he may have accidently caused the club to prosper again.
  3. Considering we lost John Rasiak Skacel Surman Saegis Euell BWP McGoldrick it is not surprising that they were replaced I would have thought. The new players of course are all playing well in Div 1 but once we get to the CCC what will happen then I wonder
  4. Because we have no money concerns we can buy good players that helps in building a good team
  5. Sometimes clubs have injuries and need replacements we have been very lucky this year with injuries I would have thought. But players come and go all the time
  6. Just because Pardew and Saints have won three games on the trot and may that continue it does not mean every Championship club will be after him
  7. Pigs in the trough is nothing to do with the Post Office loads of people get huge salaries compared with the average person including footballers
  8. Only when it suits him unlike you and me who are in it for life
  9. It is you that is the silly irresponsible person I would have thought
  10. Well said Wes
  11. I see Euell has just scored for Blackpool again
  12. I would have thought the more James played the better he would get
  13. I think Lowe did a lot of good for Southampton FC like Garside at Bolton. However a lack of money to invest in the club and his perceived personality caused his eventual downfall. He is now gone and the new regime should with major financial resources behind them make the club successful
  14. Well I must admit I never thought of Ron Davies when I saw the goal with two defenders watching him head it in. I agre that Ron scored from Sydenhams crosses from open play in similar positions but not so sure about corners
  15. the first goal looked pretty soft to me if we had conceeded it i would not have been happy
  16. Yes at that point I really thought the club should fold as I did not really want the club being run by Pinnacle
  17. I agree it was just the goals I thought were not good not the performance
  18. Sorry but I was slightly disappointed felt that Oldham gifted us the goals. That said it was a very good result probably the most important of the season showing that we can beat reasonable sides away from home. Things seem to be going well no real injury problems and with a big crowd behind the team I think we will win on Saturday too.
  19. He did not play for us for many games as he was sold when Ted Bates bought Jimmy Melia in 1964 who helped us greatly to get to Div 1. However I will never forget Burnsides goal against Nottm Forest in 1963 QF Replay when he equalised after Saints were 3 0 down with 12 mins to go. An excellent player though I do remember him coming back with Crystal Palace in an FA cup match and upsetting us fans greatly
  20. It is a standard Website used by lots of Clubs like Ipswich Stoke City and Nottm Forest
  21. I am not sure there is a place called Wycombe Wycombe Wanderers play in High Wycombe Bucks at the Adams Stadium I believe
  22. I was listening to something on Radio 5 live this afternoon where somebody suggested that sports fans are open to wishful thinking. Which I think maybe common on this thread
  23. Yes I remember I went to that Test Match Viv Richards scored 291 and Holding was awesome it was in the very hot summmer of 1976
  24. Brian Johnston In the Oval Test of 1976, England -v- West Indies, Brian Johnston refers to the players Michael Holding and Peter Willey: “The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey”.
  25. Like Lillie ct Willey bowled Dilley in a Test Match in Australia
