  1. I was at that game but dont recall the incident but remember Huxford was in goal What happened?
  2. 1) Could be Ray Wilson as he was the best LB around in Paine's era
  3. The problem is that in every team somebody will be the weakest player should he suffer because of that?
  4. Yes I think that is a good idea but will our Loanees play because they will be cup tied?
  5. I voted not to join the EEC but would now want to remain in the EU. I used to work for a Paris based company and used to go there regularly I felt that most French people were more pragmatic than us saying they were French first but wanted a strong Europe to keep the US in check something I could not disagree with.
  6. I see what you mean Post 106 http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=17655&page=3
  7. Lets face it Notts County are much more high profile with Sven there so it is not surprising that Notts County were mentioned
  8. Yes I agree that is why I put one of the best Apart from Niemmi I cant think of a better signing since we have been at St Mary's
  9. I have never lost interest;) but I have lost enthuisiasm sometimes
  10. If we were nearer the playoffs I think it would a more interesting question. So I would go all out for a win against Bristol Rovers whose confidence is not high at the moment resting any players with minor injuries we will no doubt be without Antonio and Trottman as it is and then decide what to do against Charlton A couple of losses probably would not be good for morale.
  11. Yes you do have a point 1984/1985 5th 1983/1984 2nd 1982/1983 12th 1981/1982 7th 1980/1981 6th 1979/1980 8th
  12. I remember the Everton win really well I was working in London that day and it was the first win we had had in about fifteen games
  13. Does it in any way go on the quality of the teams beaten during the month
  14. The team seems to score more goals whilst playing 442 is an observation not a critcism
  15. 1960 until the arrival of the Premier League was on the whole a good time with a few poor seasons. Whilst since the arrival of the Premier League it has been generally a poor time with a few good seasons
  16. Perhaps if we had played 442 for the whole of the second half we may have won
  17. We were dire in 1969/1970 Pos Pld W D L F A Pts 19th 42 6 17 19 46 67 29
  18. Thats not the point. The club should be aware of its history and its players. Burnside was a really top class player and his goal in our 3 3 comeback against Nottm Forest in 1963 was an important moment in the history of our club as we went on to the Semi Final of the FA Cup for the first time in a long time
  19. I think the golden age was 1963 to 1969. A great cup run promotion to Div 1 consolidation in Div 1 - The start of years of success and great memories. The eighties which of course were great times were the culmination of the years in the sixties
  20. Looking at the poll results two out of three posters think 442 is the way forward which is pretty interesting but I doubt if many posters are really critical of Pardew.
  21. Yes I agree with you but NP is doing well at the moment as Fryatt seems to be scoring goals. With no money last season it was unlikely that we could have afforded a really top class striker so with any manager it would have been difficult to win matches unlike this season where Lambert is scoring lots.
  22. Yes it is very important that we win the League games like we did with MK dons as they are really six pointers
  23. I dont disagree with you that a playoff place is possible but we have to beat the top teams. By the way Bristol Rovers have lost five games as you say but four were against top ten teams including MK dons Norwich and leads.
  24. I am in no way critising Pardew I just prefer watching 4 4 2 as it appears to be more attack oriented than 4 5 1 . We may not have the players the utilise 4 4 2 at the moment as the number of fully fit and capable strikers is limited we do not have our own competant wide players . We also need a system to utilise Lallana effectively which 442 probably does not
  25. I have looked at our last ten games Leyton Orient 2-2 MK Dons 3-1 Oldham 3-1 Southend 3-1 Gillingham 4-1 Bristol Rovers 2-3 Carlisle 1-1 Yeovil 2-0 Charlton 1-1 Colchester 0-0 Points 19 avg 1.9 Points against Top Ten Teams 8 avg 1.6 Points against Non Top Ten Teams 11 avg 2.2 So it is still more than possible to reach the play offs but perhaps we need to do better against the top teams
