That was my first season too Although we did not do very well to start with getting in the three players you mentioned helped. But it was slightly different from today as fans expectations were a lot lower and we did score over 70 goals that season and were virtually unbeaten at home
-
I agree Why not buy tickets for two games and get the third free
-
Yes Herb Elliott the famous miler of the 1950s did
-
Is it not possible for someone to mediate between the two parties so you can eat either party's hay neither party seems to be entirely in the right or wrong A cease fire surely is called for as the bickering is causing great distress the fans and the financial stability of the clubs. Because the club is divided it appears to be lurching towards relegation and possible relegation. Surely we need large crowds and united shareholders to make sure this does not happen

David McGoldrick - one of the top 50 rising stars?
John B replied to SaintDonkey's topic in The Saints
This under the thread Really -
In your Opinion but not in the Opinion of the person who wrote it. Mind you I agree with you but I do think McGoldrick is a good prospect . He did score loads of goals for the Reserves when they were clearly a good team maybe McGoldrick would score a lot for a better team say Reading.

The Biiterne Brewery is now the Big Cheese where Mousehole Lane meets West End Road

I read today somewhere that Bale may be used in the deal to get Downing to Spurs. Harry is not very Happy apparently as Spurs keep letting in late goals something I remember happening with Harry at Saints I think Downing was involved with one of them too

Bitterne Brewery dont live in Southampton now but I did live in Bitterne
-
Why not If they think he looks good and he is Scottish it may seem a good idea to them

Who would today's celebrity be I wonder?

Yes I think this sums up the situation well Crouch as you say never puts forward a consistent strategy Lowe does but whether it is the correct one time will tell probably. Football is not like a business where it may not matter if there are two bad years in Football two bad years may lead us to Div 2

We did have a lot of injuries during his time as coach I remember one match where Best and Blackstock were the strikers

Time for some good old fashioned name dropping
John B replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
The forum is discuss SFC matters and recalling the past is better than thinking about the present. It is not the place to post offensive comments about people who plainly rightly or wrongly do not like Mr Lowe -

I went to live in London in the 1960s and watched Chelsea a lot Ossie had fantastic skills scored lots of goals he was not quite so good after breaking his leg Probably slightly better than MLT for me but not by very much . -

I also met them in a pub in Lodge road after a couple of games around that time I also Spoke to Ossie on the Train down from London one match day. Also used to serve John Sydenham petrol pn West End Road Bitterne 45 years ago. Footballers in those days seemed more normal than those of today -
Arlott born and bred in Hampshire was originally a Policeman in Basingstoke I think Used to live in Alresford before moving to the Channel Isles
-
Ted Bates was my favorite manager by a long way.
-
So Lowe may have been right?
-
I agree
-
We have only had one striker this season and he is learning his trade. The others Pekhart and Robertson have not been good.

You could say it was unlucky to miss two penalties
