Surely we're not that far from having a decent team
John B replied to ExSt Peter Saint's topic in The Saints
I would agree with your post but I think we are less than a million miles away from a good team maybe two years or so -

What actually do you mean knows the Championship Scholari Ranieri etc surely did not know the Premiership Keane at Sunderland did not know the Championship and I doubt whether Pearson knew the Championship or Div 1 either. -

Are you sure Dowie has been sacked from lots of clubs? He cant be that good -
OK Robbie but without out any money it is unlikely that SFC will be in the Premiership in the long run. Mixing home grown players not kids with quality signings was why SFC was successful for 25 years. Not Mixing home grown players with quality signings was why SFC was have been unsuccessful for the past 20 years. Now Mixing kids with old pros is why SFC is today unsuccessful . Without Investment which has never been forthcoming in the last 50 years we will have to wait for success until our home grown players are no longer kids
-
Why cannot posters accept that we have no money and therefore cannot be successful.
-
Another load of complete and utter rubbish. The posts you were referring to were realistic and sensible we are in a diferent era and have no money
-
Daily was a Burley signing If we replace all the kids I do not feel we will succeed long term. I agree we should not have all kids but a team of oldies is just a short term solution.

Yes it was a bad tackle but probably the ref was right

I think they are in the defence

Was Rupert Lowe set up by the remaining Shareholders?
John B replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
I think Lowe was chosen because hard decisions had to be made which would be unpopular to the fans. As he was unpupular anyway he was used to the abuse which the fans were likely to give to the chairman so he took the job. I dont think anyone else fancied sorting out the mess -
Yes but I have been praying for a chance of fortune for nearly five years now so I dont beleive many of these rumours
-
Yes I agree with all that but why buy if we are heading for administration as he could then buy the club?
-
So why would Crouch buy them if we are heading for Administration? Why pay so much? But the idea seems good to me but I do not really beleive it.
-
I apologise for my smart alick remard regarding your ability to run the club. I did have a longer response to you and under weststand but the broadband went down and I lost it I may respond again when I get back
-
Yes I agree with what you are saying we have to get it right on the field first I did have a longer response but the broadband went down and I lost it
-
But it nearly bankrupted us didnt it? Yes bring in players when we can afford to do so
-
You may well think you could run the club better but if you could you would probably not be on here. I am sorry but the club is in a terrible state and changing direction after only a few months is not a good idea. I dont care if we get relegated we were in the Third Division when I started being interested in Southampton so I will always support them. What I care about is that the club gets onto a sound financial footing and moves forward from there it is going to take sometime and it is not going to be easy but the move forward has started.
-
Buying in a few second rate players did not work either. We are not in a very good position and it is just not possible to get into the position you crave immediately. I am more than willing to listen to alternative solutions so what can be done
-
I dont think he is doing a bad job. If we had sold Rasiak Saga Thomas and had a settled team with say John and Svennson Holmes and Schnerdlin fully fit and playing in most games and a little luck I dont think we would be in the relegation zone now
-
The start winning phrase is the one that worries me. There is no guarantees in football and the wages have to be paid. WE bought in lots of players a couple of years ago and they did not help us to win many games
-
It was just a comment in the Annual Report which seemed to suggest that money would be found in the last resort Also in the current economic conditions banks have been told to try and protect small businesses
-
I would have thought Lowe had little or no input. Clubs would be trying to get us to take loan players. This years loan players Smith seems to have impressed the coaching staff Cork and Pearce Good. Robertson was no good but was recruited to get Dyer off our books. Pekhart who appeared to have lots of potential scored lots of goals for a Premiership Reserve side was found wanting like Euell Thomas
-
Yes it is a dilemma but I dont think we will go into administration because of your last point. However injuries do seem to be causing lots of the current day to day problems as we do not seem to have a settled team
-
It is because we have been unable to recoup transfer money for John Saga Euell Thomas Skacel and Rasiak we are in the trouble we are. Their involvement at SFC has not been a success in fact a disaster probably sums up their involvement
-
Unfortunately we do not know all the facts although I would have thought Smith to be surplus to our requirements. However he a little more experienced than our other youngsters and may have shown the coaching staff that he has potential. Also our other youngsters maybe going to be loaned out. I would have thought between them JP Wotte Hockaday and Henderson would know what they are doing
