  1. Pompey have a got a decent team at the moment better than our 2003 team but of course anything could happen
  2. Although I thought Burley was a good choice it is tenure as manager which has caused the current situation you can blame Lowe for that. However under Lowe I dont think Burley would not have caused so much havoc.
  3. I am not saying they are right or wrong I dont know the true facts. I agree with your analysis of the team even in preseason goals were not being scored. I feel the system maybe OK away but is too negative at home the lone striker or in some cases loan striker has little chance
  4. Your interesting post would make a good film. Who would play Rupert?
  5. I dont really think it matters if Wilde and Lowe are supporters - I think Wilde maybe. I was surprised Lowe came back but he is there and has to be accepted but not admired or liked. It is not the board who win matches it is the players and most are young and inexperienced and need support and not slagging off. Without any money and a large mortgage cost cutting appears the only approach to me. I dont like it but what can be done? Spending lots of money does not guarntee success but does help.
  6. Unfortunately I dont see it like that. We failed in the last few years in the Premiership because apart from Bridge we were not bringing home grown talent like we were in the past and having to buy a whole team including dross like Ormerod Jacobson McCann etc and getting in very few top class players. With new approach I thought in the future we would have a team half of home grown talent and then we would have more money to spend on better players . But at the moment the plan is not working but it may do.
  7. Yes but it does not mean what they are doing is not beneficial to the club in the long run. They are not stupid but successful intelligent people
  8. I do agree that lots of people think that Lowe and Wilde are the Problem and that causes a problem. The problem as I see it is that we were too arrogant and assummed we would get back into the Premiership. If we had just consolidated instead of bringing in players who were overpaid and who underachieved we would not be in the position we are now. But you dont like Lowe and Wilde (and probably me ) thats fair enough but what is anybody else going to do
  9. I was only pointing out that it is not only at Southampton that things go wrong. By the way how do you feel. I feel OK as I have accepted that SFC are in decline at the moment and we will probably get relegated. If we dont get relegated I will feel even better but as I am in my sixties I dont think I will see the Saints in the Premier League unfortunately
  10. I like you have seen the good days but football in general has changed out of all recognition with so much money about in the top clubs players like Paine Chivers Shearer and Davies will never play for us. It is all about money these days and SFC has none. We were lucky to watch the Saints in their prime our children and their children are unlikely to see great players playing regularly for the Saints that is in the past. Although Lowe has made mistakes our situation is down mainly to money going to the top clubs I wonder how Nottingham Forest fans feel - Champions of Europe in the 1980s.
  11. Seems unrealistic to me. Lowe and Wilde are not the real problem but their presence is not helping the situation If the club had been run properly by Hone etc we would not be in this situation. Who ever runs the club will take out large salaries which cause great resentment within the fanbase. When Lowe went Wilde was supposed to take the club forward but failed miserably.
  12. The simple fact is that there are over 30 games to go. There is a remote possibility we could stay up . Protesting is likely to undermine the team and it is the shareholders who appoint the board anyway not the fans. So what will protesting actually achieve not an upturn in results in the short term
  13. Neither have I I just think they are probably not up to the job at the moment. The injury to Holmes is not helping and confidence is low. A bit of luck for a change may help

    Hypocrites

Sorry my point is it is not the board that is totally incompetant it is the players as well.

  16. You may meet Mr Fulthorpe and become ITK somebody met him at Doncaster

    Hypocrites

Nothing to do with the incompetance of the players then. Not playing to the Whistle at Cardiff Giving a stupid penalty v Blackpool Missing two penalties against Watford Getting sent off at QPR etc etc
  18. More interestling will we score any goals in the next five games
  19. Yes of course you are right. But things of course would have been better if we had actually sold two or three of Skacel Saga Rasiak John Euell Thomas . The lack of tranfer income is causing serious problems
  20. I dont believe Fans are always right. Look at the abuse given to Davis last season.
  21. I know you think relegation means administration but it might not . I dont know and neither do you Not every club that gets relegated goes into administration we just have different opinions there is no need to be rude I think I am a lot more pragmatic than you. If we get relegated it will mainly because the gamble by Wilde Hone Crouch did not work and we spent too much money on players fees and wages not on the latest decisions. We both want the same thing but not knowing all the facts is not helping either I want evolution you appear to want revolution. I dont think Lowe and Wilde are in it totally for the money as they have other vast incomes to survive on unlike me.
  22. I think Lowe was trying to balance the books in the first season down. The problem is that nobody did it after him. If we get relegated it will because the gamble by Wilde Hone Crouch did not work and we spent too much money on players fees and wages. We probably would not have got to the play off with Lowe but would be probably been in a better position if Wilde had not taken over and may have been taken over by somebody. I still cannot see anyone taking us over in our current state and in the current UK financial situation but we can hope.
  23. A very balanced and realistic post compared with lots of over the top ones in other threads
  24. Yes I think you are right I totally agree with your post. The board appear to me to be planning for life in Div 1 but the repayments on the Stadium are a major problem.
  25. Although we have not got relegated yet with the team totally lacking confidence it does seem likely that we will be relegated again. I know people want Lowe out and I would be surprised if he really wants to run a failing football club I certainly would not and other people such as Hone Wilde Hoos and Crouch have failed as well. That I think is the problem with the country in recession it is unlikely that anybody would want to invest in SFC as it is not an attractive proposition. Boycotting the club and demonstrating although very popular I think would have an adverse affect on the team and its players as well as the finances. Administration would seriously affect the non playing staff and local businesses which supply goods and services to St Mary's as well as fans who would have worthless shares. Of course Lowe Crouch and Wilde would lose money but as they seem to various other incomes they would probably be OK. Whats more the grass is always greener on the other side Wilde ousted Lowe and has made the situation even worse. I am just totally depressed and reading this forum makes it worse but what can realistically be done failing to beat Derby in the play offs has turned out to be an utter disaster.
