I think the Premiership has done for SFC assisted by Lowe in appointing Wigley and Gray. Success today is paramount I was listening to a discussion on Radio 5 where managers are not giving youth a chance preferring to buy in ready made foreign players. Our success in the past was built on youth with buying players like Ball Keegan Shilton and Osgood but that is impossible these days as their wages would be so high.

You obviously do not understand the situation at SFC either because you dont or cant. Lowe does not want a team of teenagers he wants a team that can be afforded because I understand that I am relatively calm about the present situation and hope for the best. I agree compared with other SFC teams I have seen this current one is not very good But some luck would help

I have been supporting SFC since 1962 and during that time my enthusiasm for the team has changed from season to season but I am still a supporter and always will be Every week I hope for success but most weeks especially for the last few years success has been hard to find. But I am very lucky compared to the youngsters of today I started watching just as Ted Bates plan started to work and I saw some wonderful players in Saints Shirts and saw some unbelievable games something I am unlikely to see again

I must admit to not really being worried that Lowe and Wilde are there. It is up to JP and the team to win the games and score the goals I feel too much is being focused on the board. We just need a large slice of luck for a change.

Well in the game v Wolves we never scored after 60 mins although there was relentless pressure on the Wolves goal. I returned to the Dell the following Tuesday or Wednesday v Rochdale in the League Cup fully expecting us to score 12 but I was very disappointed that we only scored 4. How I wish we would score 4 in the remainder of November but I dont want us to lose tomorrow although I dont expect us to win.

Yes we did sign their goalie I never thought him that good when playing for the Saints he was a cheap replacement for Forsyth who broke his leg. .
-
In August 1965 I saw us beat Wolves 9 3 despite being a goal down after 1 minute to a Tony Knapp own goal at the Milton Road end But we did have George O'Brien and Martin Chivers to score the goals and Jimmy Melia to pull the strings.

The only reason I said let them get on with it is because there does not appear to be an alternative. Boycotting only makes the situation worse I would have thought. The only way to change the board for the good would be for someone else to buy Lowe or Wilde's Shares but is that likely. Even if the shares were sold and a new board formed where do we go from there Would we have any money to buy and pay wages for new players. However if Wilde is not prepared to sell his shares I think that is completely wrong but is this true or another bit of malicious gossip. If we do get another regime the plan of giving youngsters a chance should be kept but with buying more experienced and physically strong defenders and strikers

I am going to leave it to JP He knows who is fit

How to ruin a football club in less than 5 years
John B replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
I think you are being rather niave we had a team which luckily got to the Cup Final where they performed badly. The Defence Claus Telfer Le Saux were ageing and needed replacing but that was going to cost Millions We were not in a very strong position really -

But it is someting to talk about This is A Saints Forum and DELLDAYS has every right to post his comments. -
I would prefer Didier Drogba to sign tomorrow it would make the team better and increase the gate.

I think JP and Wotte are in a better position to decide on what to do with White in the short time. Seems a good move to me

How to ruin a football club in less than 5 years
John B replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Could be true but I cannot see where all this so called investment money was coming from although we did bring in Crouch But I do agree we were getting in too many second rate players I would have thought this was not all down to Lowe. -
Surely Wilde and Lowe know how fans feel Wilde even posts here. Look at the Previous Independant Board run but Hone etc they we acceptable and in fact caused the problem we are in at the moment. I think Lowe and Wilde should be given time to resolve the problem.
-
Another Mindless Anti Lowe Rant Try and be constructive and say why the Anti Lowe Hatred is not harming the club. If we only have a limited budget for Players wages we can only pay for young and relatively inexperienced players. If we were not in debt we would not have this problem

Ok you can blame Lowe but where was the money to come from to pay for Transfers and Wages. We also had no one coming in from the Academy to supplement the team or sell to bring in extra Revenue -

Yes I agree with you in some ways unfortunately we started going down after Christmas as we never really had any money to buy high quality players. I dont think that team had really top class players apart from Niemi the others were pretty ordinary I think the team over achieved Beattie certainly did we had no real stategy on going forward except for getting Hoddle back . Strachan was getting in second rate players and the defence was getting old or in Svensson's case injured. -

97 for 5 Better than earlier in the week -
This sort of thread is not helping the situation. Fortunately we are in a free society and anybody can buy shares in the club. The fact is Lowe and Wilde hold most shares so they run the club that is the way it is. Boycotting the club will achieve little as no one will want to buy shares to oust Lowe and Wilde. The better the club does there is more chance somebody will buy into it. Hating Lowe is really hurting the club

Basset : / Daily Echo : Lowe Did not pick the team
John B replied to qwertySFC's topic in The Saints
You raise an interesting point which I have often wondered about. How much affect does a manager have on a team and how long does it take for him to make a positive contribution and the team to gell. Take Dowie why has he been at so many clubs for such a short amount of time why will anybody employ him -
Basset : / Daily Echo : Lowe Did not pick the team
John B replied to qwertySFC's topic in The Saints
Yes I agree but we have no money to buy in some quality players and that is our real problem. Realistically we need a RB CB RM and a Striker but we cannot afford them -
Basset : / Daily Echo : Lowe Did not pick the team
John B replied to qwertySFC's topic in The Saints
Because that is the strategy I think Lowe wants in the long term A first team with a number of homegrown players plus other quality players from outside Like Rasiak Safri Davis I think that is a reasonable approach which as worked before. Buying a whole team is costly and with our finances has proved not to work both in the Premiership and now in the Championship. But in the meantime we have to survive the best we can -

Say we kept Mills and Cranie and did not recruit Powell and Makin. Suppose we kept Blackstock and Best and did not recruit Saga and BWP Would we not be in a better position both financially and on the pitch. -
If we are still in bottom three at the end of january......
John B replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Because we had no players coming through from the Academy we had to spend the tranfer budget on getting in the whole team as oppossed to getting in 60 percent of the team.
