It does appear very childish and futile to boycott the club because the Chairman is not liked. What does that really achieve - probably less points this season as players will have to be sold
-
I think 15 points from the next 10 games is achievable and would mean that we would have improved as at the moment we only have 19 from 18 games
-
The youth approach will NEVER deliver stability.
John B replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
You are correct in saying that a Youth Team will not bring us success I dont think stability is the correct term but Lallana Surman James White Gobern etc will not always be kids.. The best teams we ever had included home grown players like Williams Channon Moran Holmes Hebberd and Holmes mixed with Shilton Ball Keegan Mills Golac Armstrong etc. As I understand the long term strategy of SFC is develop players so eventually when the financial situation is resolved we can again start buy more experienced players and the two sets of players will form a reasonable team. Buying players like we have done in the last ten years proved not to be that successful However it is virtually impossible because of the money available in the Premiership to get in players of the quality I have mentioned and because of our financial situation and the rewards in the Premier League we will not be able to keep all our home grown players. That is why we have invested in the Academy -
What on earth are you talking about Live in the real world if we have no money we may well get relegated but on the other hand we may not. Nothing is certain except three teams will be relegated this season that are the rules
-
Yes I probably agree But if Surman or Skacel are to go in Jan it maybe a good idea
-
Please read carefully I was making two points I said that Lowe was not only selling but also investing in new players whether they are any good is another thing I was not saying buying Pullis and Gasmi was good as we have not seen them play. However I did say that I thought Lowe was a better bet in the transfer market than Hone and Crouch. Crouch having little experience
-
Get real the stuff happening at SFC is happening elsewhere as well Football Clubs go up and down. We do have a reasonable plan for the future and there is stability except for a rabble saying Lowe out for no sensible or intelligent reason Wilde and Lowe are not involved at Charlton and they are in a worse position than us

What if Bobby Stokes was offside at Wembley in 1976
-
Yes fair comment but I do find some of these posting sometimes extreme So how are we going to start winning at home When I went to the Dell we hardly ever lost when I go to St Mary's we hardly ever win
-
Of course there is the possibility of relegation and administration but it is not a foregone conclusion we are supposed to support the team not tell them they are a load of rubbish Surely it is better to encourage them so that they can improve. If we can critise the players perhaps they can critise us for being so negative on occassions. How many games have we won at home in the last two seasons?
-
Alpine is so negative I know we are not a very good team at the moment but I dont want to be told every day relegation and administration are near. These sort of comments upset fans and I would have thought get through to the team I feel we are making a little progress and with a little luck could finish outside the relagation positions. Your comments regarding Plymouth are important we need to be positive on Tuesday and the second striker needs to be well forward
-
You may be correct but the problem I see it is some of your posts are looked upon as over the top so posters are responding in like manner. You could always join the Charlton Forum as they appear to be in deep trouble and but as you would not be able to blame cannot blame Mr Lowe or Mr Wilde perhaps not
-
Sorry disagree a very realistic post. Just support the team at the end of the season you maybe as surprised as you were at 5 2 5 yesterday
-
Are you suggesting that Lowe only sells for the sake of it Surely not he will only sell to balance the books there is no evidence that he will not aquire new players by investment ie Holmes Schenderlin Gasmi and Pullis. His dealing in thre transfer market and with agents appears to be a lot better than with Crouch and Hone
-
It would appear that he chops and changes too much But they usually are enforced From the Wolves Game Pearce Lancashire Euell unavailabe so replaced by Perry James BWP Jordan Robertson fit again
-
Terry Paine was the best Saints Player I ever saw But he could only pass accurately score goals with head both feet tackle play on the wing or centre mid field. He scored the goal to take us up to Div 1

LAWRIE McMENEMY, the only Southampton manager ever to win a major trophy, has had his picture removed from the boardroom at St Mary's. McMenemy is persona non grata with the regime of Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde because of his previous support for rival factions at a club which has for years operated by the laws of the playground. The new picture is of a train, and the next stop for Southampton could be League One and financial meltdown. The comment about the playground is very interesting Why cant the shareholders be more responsible
-
What about Curbishley ?
-
The system we are playing at home seems to leave the lone striker isolated
-
I dont either but it does show that we are not in such a bad situation as Charlton
-
So Coppell thinks JP is a top quality coach it is surprising what football people think. Perhaps the comments made by numerous Posters saying JP is out of his depth and clueless maybe wrong.
-
Alan Pardew has lost his job as Charlton manager after the club failed to win for the eighth successive game. I wonder what affect that will have on next week's game at the Valley which I think is a very important game for the Saints probably one of the most important this season. So perhaps other clubs are in worse positions to ours.
-
Just because your team is not very good does not mean that you stop supporting the team. A friend has been supporting Hull for fifty years he is really happy now as you can imagine
-
A Reading Supporter I just texted said we were far the better team on the day
-
In the 46 years I have been supporting the Saints the only consistent thing about the team has been their inconsistency.
