Suppose no Askham/Wiseman/Richards/Salz et al Crouch and Mcmenemy were there to welcome in the new regime, if I remember correctly, but have obviously fallen out with the club subsequently. I have met Crouch on three or four occasions. First couple of times I put him down as a strange individual. Couldn't make him out at all and certainly questioned his prowess a a business man. Subsequently had a long chat to him about the club at an away game during the Burley era and he came across as very passionate about the club and keen to help as much as he could

I continue to be worried about Corp and his relatives Westwood (sic), Tally and Gung. Rumour is Corp is out and about (again) trying to rustle up another rescue package Some suggestion that the new Job****e Stadium will be built on one of the Solent Forts which is currently up for sale. Good site, no problems with neighbours and plenty of plankton in the vicinity for pre match meals!!

Unfortunately the green mould will be there for some time. The original paint spec was 'cheap & cheerful' and altho Barr's (the stadium builders) are contracted to undertake some 'snagging' work, its likely to cost some considerable pence to do a decent job. Guess the prioirity is spending on the team at the mo altho it is also helpful to have the facilities in good order too

Reminds me v much of George Lawrence (aka Chicken George). Strong, quick and direct but without much ball control or guile. Made more impact than Papa and contributed to our win. Reserve judgement for the moment. Hopeful that Mcglaggon can offer something similar when fully fit. Need something similar down the left flank, as an option. Unfortunately Lee Holmes/Fish Mills don't provide this option

It is a nice warm feeling being a Saints fan at present. Three League wins on the bounce (two away!!), 10 goals scored 3 against, plus progress in a Cup Competition (altho' let's forget the performance against Torquay!!). Decent crowd in prospect tomorrow plus 3k+ going to Orient next week. I suppose Saints fans are no different than others in so far as recent results have elevated the Manager and Team to star status rather than the underperforming bunch who struggled up to the start of October. I very much hope that we can look forward to the rest of the season in a more positive frame of mind. Key players avoiding injury and suspensions will be v helpful (as AP has recognised) as will keeping hold of saleable players and indeed strengthening the squad in January We will suffer set backs along the way that's for sure and, perhaps, the negative feeings will be worse as the level of expectation rises. Well done all of you who have kept the faith. Let's just maintain a collective level head as the season progresses and hope to see the team rise up the League and banish the thoughts of the past couple of years of dire results.

Remember seeing the Fleur De Lys at Sarisbury Green Village Hall. As I recollect it, the crowd for the 1963 2nd replay at WH Lane was 42,000 I was there and don't remember more than a couple of thousand Forest fans in the ground. In those days a few neutrals would turn up. But in my view at least 25,000 Saints fans were there that night, a fair proportion of whom didnt arrive until half time due to congestion on the roads

For the younger generation it is difficult to pass on the passion and enjoyment of the 3-3 draw and 5-0 walloping of Nottm Forest (in which Dave Burnside was a prime arcitect) and the following 1-0 Cup Final win v Man Utd. I played local football with Stuart Williams in his later years. An opposing player once told him he was a 'has been'. Stuart retorted by saying 'well its better than being a never wasser'!! Good times!!

I had a Dave Burnside badge (replaced my Don Roper one!!). Remember him first doing 'keepy uppy's' at half time in a rare (Black & white) televised game. WBA v some E European team. He would have been around 16 at the time. I was allowed to stay up to watch the game on our Radio Rentals Sobell 14" TV He then came to Saints with Stuart Williams & George Kirby. Not the fastest player but a lovely left foot which sprayed balls inside the full back for Syddy to sprint onto. Scored in the epic N Forest 3-3 game in 1963. Went on to play for Palace (I think) and didnt behave v gentlemanly when we played them in the Cup(?) Took the edge of my impression of him but still did v well dyring his timewith the Saints. RIP

Agree with you. What Murty lacks in pace he makes up with in guile and experience. However he may struggle for fitness. Hope not.

If I was AP, I would be looking to bring in another right back, a lively left footed midfielder/striker and defensive midfielder who could double up as a central defender. We need to ensure that Trottman (or similar) is in place come January, See no place for Forecast/Molyneaux/Lancashire/Gillett/Pulis/Saga and possibly Holmes.

I must admit at being surprised at seeing McGlaggon shown at over 6' on the Saints FC site Thought he must have shot up since last year which obviously isnt the case Some of the stats seem to be wrong Also looking at the saints team pic. some of the players appear to be standing on tip toes to look taller if you look closely.
