  1. You only have to look at the ludicrous number of games played by some of our players to understand that the cups were a giant distraction.40 games for Lambert, 35/36 for lads who are just out of youth team age group, it's far too much.
  2. what happened? AP didn't mention that in his preview, must be recent.
  3. I don't think many of you actually understand the role of the central midfield players. They are there to win the ball and distribute it. Their role does not include charging into the opposition's box and scoring shedloads of goals, they are the dustbin men of football, you need them but it's no good counting on them to cook up cordon bleu meals. That's down to Lallana and whoever the other attacking midfielder is.The rub lies in the fact that we have no effective second striker to score on a regular basis and that Antonio who is often used in League games hasn't ,as yet, scored a league goal. Lambert gets his share (a few from free kicks and penalties) Lallana has 10 on his counter but we don't have that second free scoring striker we need. Connolly was the man but as he hasn't played for weeks now he's just got 4 league goals. We need Puncheon to get goals, we need Antonio or Waigo to get goals because Lambert is doubled teamed all of the time.
  4. HMRC don't give a toss about where the money comes from, as long as someone pays it that's all they want.
  5. far too slow
  6. Yes but if FIFA allow them to sell players outside the window Gold could pay them 15 million for Belhadj and not even play him, just wait until the summer and sell him on to Barcelona. It would all be so easy for anyone to "loan" them money by the back door now. We probably helped them out by turning up in mass and letting the bastards win thus gifting them another half a million or so. They will not go out of business and will be above us for another year at least, probably more because they'll get parachute payments and "investment". God I hate those bastards.
  7. And they won't, they(apparently) have someone interested in buying out the current owners and Gold has offered to lend them 10 million to save the 4 points West Ham have taken off them. That won't be allowed but sooner or later by some back door process or other someone will bail them out rather than lose the points that they gained against Skate. I just knew it was too good to be true, the fishy few wiped off of the football scene for ever.
  8. Because they have scored 67 goals and we have only scored 47, true they've played 3 games more, still a lot of difference though.
  9. A truly hypothetical and academic discussion, they won't go out of business this season and we won't get back into the FA Cup.If they were going to go bust it would have been last week, they will wheel and deal and cheat and whinge until someone says righto then here's enough to pay off the Revenue and don't do it again you naughty boys. Then they will go into admin and follow a path very similar to our own.
  10. Because Norwich score a lot of goals and we don't get anywhere near as many. It's football, the reason one side is a lot "better" than another is all about the ability to put the ball into the back of the net at virtually every chance you get. We saw that last week, if we could do what is primordial in football, stick the ball in the onion net, we would have won about 4-1, we didn't and we lost 4-1 A player can be absolutely f**k awful for 88 minutes out of 90, if he does what he's paid to do for the other 2 minutes you win 2-0.We have far too many players who miss easy chances, it cost us in 2005, last year and will probably cost us our play-off place this year.We have missed a hatful of sitters of late, goals that would have gained us 6 to 8 points. It's something we don't do well and I presume it's because we don't have a coach talented enough to work on the finishing of our "strikers".
  11. I personally don't think it matters,as long as they sell us Belhadj that is.
  12. Surely the fringe players on the first team rota could do with a run out from time to time. Does it cost us more to play Gillett and Gobern in the reserves?
  13. Another loan I suppose. Pity looked OK last season.
  14. What youngsters ?? Those that are good enough are playing in the team every week, Morgan,Lallana,Antonio and James, younger than those there can't be many candidates.
  15. I had a look at Millwall's remaining fixtures, without any real trouble can see them getting another 30 points from their remaining games, that would leave us requiring another 48, ie 16 wins out of 18.
  16. But he really can't be all that good, otherwise he'd be a regular at Brentford who aren't all that good either. Dailly probably made him look a lot better than he actually is.
  17. no they just want you to gift them your money.
  18. As the old adage goes "If it's in the Sun it must be true" academic anyway they won't get wound up.......but we can still hope.
  19. still the 2-0 lead we threw away against Villa was probably the one single result that sent us down.
  20. Surely they'll be due some Prem money for this season though. The PP would be for next season, this season they get normal whack less the 7 million that every Premiership club has had in advance, I suppose it's easier for the Premier League authorities to advance them the PP because it's a known sum whereas this years premier league winning aren't, unless you assume they'll be in last place. They're going to wriggle out of this, probably aided and abetted by the Premier League, mark my words.
  21. we said that about a lot of our players when we got relegated to the Championship, think we said it about Saga in League 1 as well.
  22. Our current form is about as good as anyone's, our problem is the first 8 matches of the season, we took about 7 points from them.If we'd had the same sort of ratio as recent matches we'd have got 16 or so and that's the difference between our real points total and those of Norwich and Leeds. Edit : in fact we got 9 from 10, so that means that from our last 18 matches we've got 35 points, form as good as anyone's really.
  23. although the real target may well be 10 points from automatic promotion.
  24. Doubt it, I had a look at Ryanair from Grenoble the other day. Providing I can get leave this time I could do the round trip for about £40 but the Mrs will insist on going(but not to the match) and stay at the Lancaster Gate (because we always do) so I won't get any change at all from £300 and that"s without Le Café des Amis du Vin because we always have to do that as well. Still should be worth it.
  25. Is that the Austrian edition? I believe Morgan is of Austrian descent somewhere or other, might be a bit of chauvisim .
