  1. When was that? wasn't it Rudi who didn't want to lose money by going to Ipswich? Did another of our "stars:rolleyes:" turn them down over money as well?
  2. Those would be the contracts that Hone got one of the SFC board members to sign because as he explained the money wasn't there to finance them. He knew it, just the football 'fans' on the SFC board just wouldn't accept that it was true.
  3. Could be the aptly named Surrey Docks I guess. There is also the Moby ****, not a very salubrious place in my student days but probably more up market now. Reminds me of a very infantile game we used to have when I was at Imperial, took it in turns to find the most dingy downtrodden pub that we could and take everyone there of a friday night for some slumming. Most of them were more friendly than yer upper class watering holes.
  4. Amateur and unprofessional aren't the same thing then?
  5. I don't know anything about odds but I would have thought that obtaining 50 more points from 22 games (as we've only got 38 from 24 so far) and beating 2 other top League 1 sides to boot would be worth far more than a 7/1 chance. It's just the bookies being stingy. They'd far rather you bet on a 10/1 managerial shot who isn't even considered for the job in question. Like MLT being Chairman of Saints for example.
  6. Yep, I really don't know how many times the true history of Jackson's Farm have been explained on this site (and it's predecessors) Even Mary Corbett confirmed it. Mr John Corbett loaned SFC £15000 to buy JF with the prevision that it would be paid back over time, which it has been.
  7. Perhaps the "Ward deal" was just used to drive down the terms of the Seaborne deal.Anyway it really doesn't matter. The OS warned us only last week "if it's not on here (the OS) it ain't true"'
  8. Nope I've been there, had an ex-fiancée from the dump even. I would never knowingly go there again. Anyway I didn't blame them for choosing him, Delia's fault that but they thought he was a good manager all the same.
  9. Sir Arthur Harris if you want to look him up and find out something about the recent history of your nation.
  10. where will get the money from for that then Ron? Liebherr isn't going to chuck money at us you know. That's why we've signed Seaborne and Otsemobor instead of argentinian starlets costing 30 million a piece. We need to get up, consolidate, get some TV money into the coffers and then move on up.
  11. Unless of course we are going to use him in front of Lloyd James. Let James do the donkey work at the back and use Jon's speed in front of him. Unless we go to a back 3 of Fonté,Seaborne with Perry sweeping.
  12. I don't doubt that they already have better offers, probably just loyalty to the club keeping them here at the moment.I hope we're not paying Fonté more than these 3 cos if we are, well bye lads.
  13. Yes yes be pedantic then, Huddersfield and Swindon have games in hand, one of them will get points from them.We are effectively 13 points off the play-offs at this moment,in the words of Carol King-it's too late.
  14. We have been trying to shift Saga and Thomas for 18 months (or more) now. Neither of them will leave unless we either pay them off or subsidise a loan move for them. They cost too much for their ability, football wise they are not in the "value for money" bracket. No player is going to wander off for a 3K a week contract now whilst they can still collect big swans from us and sort something out at the end of the season, which is just 4 months away. 24x4000 £= a whole lot of cash.
  15. We won't make the play-offs this season, even with Rooney,Ronaldo and Vidic it would probably be difficult. There's no way splashing another 5 or 6 million will change much because we have a 13 point (or so) deficit on the last place and 2 (or even 3) of the places are already as good as signed ,sealed and delivered. Plus there are plenty of sides in between us and 6th place, they won't all go into free-fall.
  16. Norwich is a crap hole, anyone passing within 10 miles of the place probably contracts severe clinical depression. Norwich fans also thought Brynn Gunn was a good manager,in reality probably one of the worst choices ever known to football.
  17. Lloyd James will get the job, I really don't think that there will be any more "big money" signings this time round. Perhaps I'll be surprised but I tend to think not.If no core player leaves I doubt that we'll spend much more this time. If we are really interested in Stock or Danns then it is probably because someone has asked to move on; Lallana or Schneiderlin take your pick.
  18. the midfield is fine as it it, when they stop having to nursemaid the defence.
  19. Why is it disappointing, we've got what we needed, new defensive elements to enable us to stop shipping goals. We score enough anyway.
  20. Great a right back and two centre backs, just what we needed. The FA can close the window now, we're done.
  21. I bet we don't though.
  22. I bet Antonio starts in place of Waigo though.Illogical, Unexplainable but that's what happens anyway.
  23. not the sort of thing you should say without certainty or proof really.
  24. Probably had more money available than he could handle. It's an art being manager of a rich football club you know. viz Mark Hughes.OK in a way but Mancini is obviously better, some managers do better with scraps and dog-ends than they do with bags of cash.
  25. But he says in his interview that he hopes to play at Millwall. What's all the Jaidi was fine in Oceania about then??
