  1. someone bought 1 share today, or sold one to a broker or something. 1 share for 24.5p, symbolism in it's purest form.Either because they want to be part of the Saints Revolution or they're so hacked off they felt the necessity to make this gesture.
  2. We've saved a lot to be sure but we need to save even more. As long as the banished don't come back at any time in the near future we might sell just one player in January and loan out one other. If Saga comes back (and I think he will because I think they have a winter break in Denmark of over 3 months, last game 7/12 next game, 1st of March) I can't quite see how we're going to get on. I mean he's been playing a high standard of football with Aalborg but just might not slot into our new system easily (on the other hand he might be perfect in tandem with McG). Whether we can stand taking on his salary again without having to send Skacel or Euell out on loan I just couldn't say.
  3. In that case there should only be 3 names on the ballot paper. Steve Mills, Mick Mills,Wayne Bridge. The fact that Benali is even an option is an insult to those 3.
  4. Maybe, I don't know any of them personally. I was thinking more along the lines Investco,Mercury Asset and Roger Everett. I'm not really au fait with the reverse takeover, I mean I know the basics but not exactly who was involved and who was on the outside.I think some people actually bought shares at the flotation price of 150p in the first place.
  5. I don't think it's even as cynical as that.Lowe has a dream, British Football played by British Players. He's really tried to get involved with the FA and all that (no doubt for his own political ends) but he really does believe that developing our own players and not exporting bagfulls of cash to the third world is the way forward. Or that's how I see his take on it anyway.
  6. Well not really. The best dividend we've had in recent times was 5.60p back in 2003 or 4. If you've a million shares which probably cost you 700K at least you get 56000£. The interest on 700K invested even at high street rates at that time would come to about 35000£. Since then there's been bugger all, maybe 0.5p in 2005. so instead of receiving good interest which would be quasi automatic on a high st deposit or even better offshore, you're getting nothing for the last 4 years or so and your investment is now worth diddly squat. Saints won't turn a profit for at least another 3 years so counting on dividends is a waste of time.
  7. Mills isn't in the squad (according to the OS) So Pearce for Mills then. Makes sense, if Pearce needs to come on Cork will go to RB and Pearce will slot into CD. I fancy a 3-1 for Saints, I would say 3-0 but that's unwise; Robertson, Gasmi McG in that order.
  8. Woodward already has a job until 2012, after that he's already said he thinks he has one big coaching job left in him.
  9. Depends if you count the 4 months and counting he's been on IR. Did get 90 minutes for Stoke reserves yesterday, don't know how that went for him though. Too expensive to run unfortunately, probably wanted to move on anyway.
  10. The problem is that our overdraft, even 6 million at 5% ,is increasing by about 840£ a day. So with home matches spaced at 14 day intervals each gap between home matches increases our overdraft by £11760, equivalent to about 650 tickets sold (cos there are a lot of concessions). We can't rely on gate increases alone to reduce the overdraft in any significant way. 1000 extra on the gate only knocks about 6500£ off the overdraft in a 14 day period.
  11. That isn't a very tall central pairing, must be one of the most vertically challenged in club history.
  12. I mean it wouldn't be a bad deal though would it, a bit of cash, and Baird to shore up at RB or in central defence depending on whether we can keep Cork or not.I mean Lallana is obviously a decent player but sometimes you've got to take one for the team.
  13. Yes things are better without a doubt but the fans aren't happy because we have no "names". The fact that when we did, they were utter crap and totally useless has been overlooked.
  14. Yes he did loaned out Rasiak and Skacel for a miserable total of 0.6 million in loan fees and increased our payroll in spite of that. Appointed a f*ck awful duo to manage the club, then Pearson, not so bad that though.Should have done it in the first place, I've nothing against Pearson, just the other 2 wannabees. I mean for the few quid that Skacel and Rasiak saved us or brought in surely we could have done without such fabulous loan signings as Pericard and Ian Pearce. Skacel could play left back freeing up Vignal to play in central defence where he has had some experience. I mean I thought we got serious money for those 2 being out on loan, "we have obtained good loan fees" was the word on the street at the time. For the ****y amount we got they'd have been better off here trying to get into the play-offs or at least beat Bristol Rovers and get some more cup money. Lunacy, pure lunacy.
  15. Well if you listen to some we're already at 8 million anyway . It is evident from the accounts that the 6.63 million financial debt is made up from the 5.69 million overdraft and I suppose about a million renegociated stadium payment. We had 1.256 million in hand at the bank so I suppose we had enough to pay our way for a while. We got a bit in for Davies and something on the Bale add ons. The AR makes no mention of the extra monies for the Crouch knock on,don't know what that means. Since then if we haven't been living within our means our overdraft will have gone up. 25 cheap players @16000£/month x 5 months = 2 million 5 expensive as f*ck players@40000/monthx5=1 million Normal everyday stuff, probably 2 mill more So out 5 million, in say 3 million from player sales, and 6000x12x20 on tickets =1.44 million.Bit of TV money, some commercial income, probably roughly even given that there was a league cup game or two and a couple of home friendlies. I can't see that we would be on 8 million pure overdraft though, perhaps 5.5 million on overdraft plus the other million probably on reported interest payment.Buit there again if all the ST money bar 1.25 million was already gone by the end of June and we had to pay everybody through July and August things might be different.
  16. That's what I said, you need to spend big to save big, if you can't spend you can't save; Now if VAT reduction on beer, baccy and petrol hadn't been compensated by a tax rise to keep their prices the same it might be different. The government want you all to go out and buy a lot of "empire made" trash to save money you haven't got. Basic things won't go down and it's just a load of trumpet blowing bullsh!t at one end so they can shaft the upper earning echelons a bit on the next government's watch.
  17. It just says to prospective lenders and investors-well If they go bust don't say I didn't tell you so; It's just ritual ass covering speak.
  18. No I read it, just thought I'd have a self indulgent comment anyway. I didn't ask why, I gave my opinion on the arbitrariness of the list that's all. Apologies for that.
  19. Better in the tackle in my opinion, probably faster, didn't need to get forward so much though; The whole concept of the role was different at that time so it's difficult to compare them really.
  20. It's a no brainer, Christiano Ronaldo it is then.
  21. Can't be much worse than Denny Hollywood to be honest. The list is purely arbitrary.I mean Denny played a goodly number of games over a fair old time but he was crap at best and absolutely dire at worst. Francis Burns (who replaced him) was 5 times the left back Denny Hollywood was.
  22. Quite right too, no point in giving a decent player away for roughly the same as you paid for him is there.
  23. So we'll make a loss then.
  24. Nah we'll get loadsa people tomorrow night. Everybody will start thinking they've arrived in Eldorado because a measly 2.5% has been cut off of VAT. Means nothing, you have to spend £100 to save(roughly) £2.50. If you haven't got a £100 in the first place you can't spend it can you, seeing that the bank won't lend it to you how can you get it to spend it in the first place. If the government cracked down on VAT fraud they could probably cut the rate even more. NB Tax on beer, fags and petrol up so they'll stay the same price. What a tosser that bloke is, it's all smoke and mirrors.
