  1. Wow! What a debacle. 57 all out. Need to sack the groundskeeper for this snorter of a wicket😚 . All they did was bowl quick'ish and straight'ish and we just folded. just unbelievable really.
  2. Belay my last. 100 would be a good score for us here. The inevitable batting shambles just when we don't need it. The "committee" need to apply themselves this winter to obtain a solid batter who's got the technique to see off fast, accurate, new ball bowling on a regular basis.
  3. Terrible start to our innings as well. As I was saying the other day, maximum batting points looks a tall order. As it is now, 200-250 would probably be a good score for us here.
  4. Good start for Hants, Kent 2 down already. Donald keeping again it would seem, not risking Brown's finger perhaps. He's in the side though, just to bat I suppose.
  5. Indeed, I seem to remember David O'Sulllivan playing a major part in the 73 win. Sainsbury took a good few as well, completing the work of the front line bowlers and the fabulous batting. O'Sullivan was a slow left armer, often really useful when the ball is doing nothing at all. This is why the loss of Dawson chagrins me so much. Good job we're only playing Kent and Warks because real quality batters would go to town on our part time spinners and Crane.
  6. Maximum bonus points eh, that means scoring over 400 in the first innings twice over. Think we may have to be satisfied with about 45 points from the two games, and that's a tall enough order with the weather for the second fortnight of September. I think though that losing Dawson to some silly asian bash or other may be a handicap for us. Surrey may even get a few test players back.
  7. Surrey don't look at all interested. So that will be a draw then. Going into the last 2 games there'll be an eight point advantage for Surrey and they can't win more matches than us.
  8. Won't get them. Game will end with about 20 overs to go. Unless there's some really silly batting and Surrey slump to about 60 for 5.
  9. Oh no they aren't😐
  10. Looks like Surrey would need at least 300 from at most 50 overs. 6 an over is a big ask, especially if you'd not want to lose. Looks pretty cloudy so I'd doubt if they'll even get all of the scheduled overs in.
  11. Nothing much to hope for from the Surrey game. Northants bowling is pretty poor, as we saw last week really . They did have Surrey at 80/4 yesterday but now Surrey are about to move into a first innings lead. Why do poor, average seamers keep bowling short to big hitters like Curran ? It's just free, quick runs. Best issue for us now looks to be a draw with maximum bonus points for Surrey, leaving them 8 points ahead with 2 matches to play for each side. No Dawson for Hants though so that's an extra bummer.
  12. Not too bad though. Northants 157/3 last time I looked. Gay looks to be an excellent opener. Don't think Northants will be able to hold on to him for very long.
  13. Excellent. Especially with Abbott unable to bowl today. What ails him ? 8 points ahead of Surrey now. Don't think Northants have much chance of actually beating them next week, but with a bit of bad weather and a great need of points perhaps a draw.
  14. Probably need at least two more wickets before the close. Not sure that we'll get them though. Bowling looks pretty inoffensive and Northants are obviously playing for the draw. Works every time, Barker suddenly produces a snorter to get Procter caught behind.
  15. Quite a good start today, Northants now 5 down. Donald not at all bad behind the stumps.
  16. Wicket looking pretty innoccous so far. Seem to bowling a bit wide as well.
  17. Weather forecast looks distinctly unpromising. Tomorrow and Thursday no better. Might not get much more play at all in this game. Pity, we look to be in quite a good position. Might not even bowl at all.
  18. Still no play for us. Most of the other games seem to have avoided the rain.....so far at least. Not a good toss to lose. Northants would probably have been 3 or 4 down by now. Can't see us making very many batting points. Wicket is green and bounce seems a bit uneven, runs are hard to come by.
  19. Hmm, no Brown in the side today, he was in the group announced yesterday. Seem to remember that Donald kept wicket on occasions at Glamorgan, but that's a long time ago. Don't remember anyone else in the XI announced ever keeping wicket, could be wrong though.
  20. Rightyho, back to the serious stuff on Monday, Northants at the Aegeas. Should have all of our players available after the shorter format interlude. Don't think many of them covered themselves with glory in the Hundred, although Dawson did seem to have bowled fairly well when I looked at the scorecard. Got himself included n the group for the Pakistan T20 series and is travelling reserve for the WC. Vince ,I think had an atrocious series and Brave got dumped out quickly. Presume it will be about the usual CC eleven , unless the wicket is expected to spin a bit and in that case Crane may be included.
  21. Extras were among the problems. Then again we've been bowling short and wide throoughout the competition, luck just ran out a bit too soon. For me the lack of a front line spinner was a biggsh factor. They probably wouldn't have hit Dawson for 72 off of 10 overs. That said Currie and Campbell were too expensive as well. Have we not a full time spinner in the younger players? If that's the case it doesn't bode well for the future. Prest bowls a bit but obviously his type of spin wasn't thought to be worth much.
  22. Good game, lacked a experienced bowler today though, real spinner too maybe. So onwards to the CC now.
  23. Need to get Robinson out soon, if not we'll be struggling.
  24. Probably be enough. Good start, got bogged down a bit in the middle (well only 5 an over that is) and then we saw some pretty innovative batting from Albert and Organ, including a sort of reverse pull from Albert that went for 4. Must be noted that 4 of our batters got out to reverse sweeps, 2 bowled, 2 lbw. No commentary on the stream today, well at least on my stream, what's that about then ? Strike, price of gas or Sky diffusion ?
  25. Although they kinda did. Glamorgan finished above Yorks as well.
